- What if you suddenly woke up in a dead world? How would you react? How would people around you react? And why is the apocalypse relevant today? Herman Geijer is an expert in surviving a zombie apocalypse. In his talk Herman uses zombies as a metaphor for any external threat to our existence. The lessons learned from preparing for the zombie apocalypse can thus be used to better cope with power cuts, personal crises, natural disasters or pandemics. This, along with analyzing how people actually behave during disastrous circumstances, certainly boosts your chances of survival.
Herman Geijer is an expert in surviving a zombie apocalypse. In 2011, he created the first ever Swedish study circle on the topic at the Workers’ Educational Association. In 2014 he wrote the book “Zombieöverlevnad - din guide till apokalypsen” (Zombie Survival - Your Guide to the Apocalypse), which was the first zombie survival manual written for a Swedish audience. The book was in part based on his blog, “Nej Tack Zombies” (“Zombies, no thanks”), covering everything from zombie culture and zombie movies to guides on how to survive disasters and articles on Sweden’s preparedness to respond to incidents.

Do this to survive:
-Avoid large cities
-Stay healthy
-Have a well stocked supply of food, fuel, supplies
-Be able to produce, preserve, and secure food with the correct nutrients
- have a good source of clean drinking water
-Have valued skills and be able to produce items of value for bartering
-Have an isolated fortified homestead
-Have multiple means of communication
-Have good sources of useful information (I.e. a library)
-Have good medical supplies and know how
-Have the necessary tools to be self sufficient
-Be able to defend your home, food, family, and support structure.
- have ways to stay entertained and mentally sound (music instruments, books to read, games to play, etc...)
- be prepared to isolate, yet have well developed support structure of useful allies
When zombies actually show up, none of this will be going on in our minds

I can see, yeah survival is so little if the zombies are like wwZ ones. People need to prep now a bug out bag and survival equipments, what to do in case these things happen. Mostly on defence, how to keep warm, what to eat in the wild, stay in close groups.
I wish I was older cuz if this really happens...... I would die at the age of 10

The speaker looks very much like Dwight Schrute on television's "The Office". But, a "zombie expert"? Who bestowed that label on him? Did he go to zombie college and get a degree in "Necrobiology"? Luckily, I was born and raised in the American South, where everyone has lots of guns (they are such a big part of our culture here that gun ownership is a matter of course. I own many firearms, have a concealed firearms permit, carry a handgun pretty much wherever I go, and have loaded guns within reach wherever I am in my home) and basic wilderness survival techniques are known by pretty much everyone. Most Southerners can hunt, fish, navigate the forest at night without getting scared, build a fire and keep it going good, handle, maintain, and be proficient with firearms, grow fruits and vegetables, raise livestock, and many useful survival techniques. This is especially true of people who live in rural areas, where it can be miles to your nearest town or city and you may have to rely on your own skills and ingenuity to survive.
I believe I would thrive in a zombie apocalypse, even in some realistic scenario like a pandemic or some natural disaster like a flood, I believe that I would keep my cool and have my wits and employ them and my general skills to survive in a scenario where many others are running around like scared children that are trying somehow to figure what to do. Even if zombies were real and we had a major zombie pandemic, I would thrive. I would sit back in my fortified house in the mountains (another plus, I live on a mountain, so I have command of the high ground with good fields of fire in elevated positions. Any military strategist will tell you that commanding the high ground and fortifying a solid, defensible structure/area is a top priority in a combat zone). There is one road, up a steep hill with many yards of completely open ground, leading to my hose's front yard. The rest is surrounded by woods, again with yards of hilly, open ground as soon as you reach the forest's treeline. I could snipe anyone approaching my property with impunity. Large numbers with heavy firepower would be required to overwhelm my defenses and concealed booby traps.
I'd be ok. I'm with the zombie outbreak response team.

The walking dead zombies are easy to get. But there were zombies which were like rabied dogs in other films, strong and fast- like killing machines. Those are not easy to get. those things need a huge gun p0wer to take on.
