Was just gifted this for my birthday. Great review, I’m excited to use it! And good on you for donating to a cause for veterans. I subscribed after hearing that. 🤘
Great review! I am a huge fan of LR Baggs gear. I’ve had the Anthem SL installed in 2 guitars, and they sound amazing. I also use their Session DI. It is a subtle but amazing little pedal that makes the sound you thought couldn’t any better even better. I’m a solo gigging musician so all of my eq is done on board my on PA, but if I were to do more gigs using other people’s sound then I would definitely have the Venue DI without reservation. Thanks for all of your work over the years. I feel like this has been my education for all things acoustic. Much appreciated!
I've been using the Venue DI for years now and wouldn't be without it. I don't find the tuner to be all that accurate, and I like the Fishman Pro Platinum EQ for the compressor, but if I'm picking one DI, it's the Venue every time. Can't afford the Grace Felix now how !
John Gallacher it’s very realistic like you have a real microphone in front of it! It’s not 100% the same but it’s pretty damn close! I even got to test out the phase button live because there came a small feedback out from the speakers, but when i pressed the phase button the feedback went away.
Great review!!! I´d like to ask you a question if I may: I am looking for an acoustic amp solution for my Taylor guitar. I am using a NUX Optima Air (IR signal technology) connected direct to my PA system. Well it sounds better than plugging the guitar directly to the PA but even so I am not happy with the sound I get. I have a very good PA system (mixing console and power speakers), that´s why my first idea was to get a good preamp/DI as the only solution. But what´s best a good preamp/DI, as the one on this review, or a small dedicated acoustic amplifier? I can alway connect the amplifier to the PA system if I need more power. I would appreciate your feedback, thanks
I have a Takamine TNV760N with Cool Tube Preamp (piezo) and I plug it into an Unico amp passing trough the LR Bagg Venue... do you think is actually worth to sell the venue and buy the Session pedal with the Equalizer ore the Venue is still better than the single pedals they made now? My only complaining when I play live is that the piezo is not very warm. I can actually bring up the valve on the CTP but if I bring it up too much become too much compressed.
I have the LR Baggs Lyric (mic) in my Larrivee... what do you guys think of this for it ? I was looking hard at the T-Rex Soulmate Acoustic....comp, delay....built in tuner....etc, but I am not sure.... If I got this, I would need to get a delay as well...
Thanks for this - maybe ask a stupid question? I don’t know if i need a DI like this. I do small gigs, I have an active pickup in my guitar and a great AER amp with built in EQ. Does this mean I don’t need a DI box at all (ie I already have a preamp (in my guitar) and some EQ (on the AER). Thank you.
Depends how picky you are about your sound, and what you are going for. I like having the additional layer of eq and gain control especially coming before my effects pedals. Really cleans everything up and gives me some extra refined tone.
I have a Guild OM120 that I love and a Seymour Duncan sa 3hc Woody that I use through my PA around the house. Do you think this would boost my signal loud enough through a PA for integration to a band setting? Thanks Heath
My wife just got me this for my birthday. I use an LR Baggs Radius on my mandolin and am excited to see how that is going to sound through this. You're already right about the tuner. I'm noticing a lot quicker response than I did through my Snark pedal tuner. I'm still trying to figure how I feel about the boost. I'll have a better idea of how I feel about it after my first show with it next week.
@Stinky5522 honestly I didn't like the radius after a while. It just didn't cut through when I played with my rock band. I replace it with some K and Ks last year and it's made an absolute world of difference for the better!
Would be so nice to see a Handmade Japan Takamine on the channel ! I have played them on the road as a full time artist for years ! And love them Also use the LR Baggs Venue and Love it Enjoy watching the videos Tony ! Appreciate it
@@tonybhoy1881 ...Hi Tony. My Headway ECB-2 Notch filter "Q Width" is set almost at the 12 O'Clock position. The "Freq" dial is around the 11 O'Clock position. I sometimes D.I. right in to my mixer, but when I use my Genz-Benz amp, I sometimes fiddle around with the adjustments, especially if I change out guitars. My main 'go-to' guitar is my Gibson SJ-200 with the L.R. Baggs passive pick-up. I used to use the L.R. Baggs Para Acoustic D.I. until I got the Headway EDB-2 which gives me SO MUCH more control over my sound. I also usually use that rubber sound hole plug too most of the time on the Gibson. I hope that helps. Also, I hope Tony Polecastro gets a hold of the Headway EDB-2 for review. It will blow him out of the saddle when he gets one!! ......Russell D.
KB6YAF Thanks so much for getting back to me. I’ll give that setting a try. Nice set up you have! I use a K&K pickup with my Martin HD35 and LR Baggs Anthem with my Taylor 410 into the Headway through an Allen and Heath fx10 mixer the n into a Bose L1. Hopefully your advice will finish it all off nicely:-) I agree. Tony would be blown away!
@@tonybhoy1881 ...Tony, ....as a retired music educator, I used to tell my students that the most important part of their instrument is not on the instrument.....it is your 'ears'. Arthur, I should have clarified. My comparison is against the tuner in the Fishman Aura DI which is extremely inaccurate. The Baggs Venue of all of the DI's with tuners that I have tried is the most accurate (although it can be slow to display) which definitely gives it a point in my opinion :-)

Hello. What preamp is better? Venue or for acoustic di? I don't know why to go

I ordered mine last weekend and can’t wait to try it out on my Martin D-35 with the LR Baggs Anthem tru-mic pickups!
How do you find the anthem tru mic pickup? Thanks.

Just got this last month! Love it!!!
Hi Tony, I have a LR Baggs installed in my Martin but it has very low output. Would this be a good investment for me? Thanks
If a channel like tours took a serious look at Jars Of Clay's first record with their heavy use of acoustic guitars, I'd be happy!
You neglected to mention that it has an FX loop as well. Very useful.

Absolutely Heath :-) The Venue is an incredibly flexible tool and very useful for getting heard above any band situation :-)
Almost got the fishman but the tuner and mute sold me on the venue
Has your opinion changed these many years later?
What's a toooner?
Would you put this first or last on a board? 🤔

I’m just curious if Tony has any electric guitars
There have been a few that have been a part of my collection, but none ever stuck. So currently no electrics :-)

These aren't cheap though. Most people use an acoustic guitar with a under-saddle piezo pickup.
Have you tried the Headway EDB 2 Tony?
I use the Headway EDB-2 and LOVE IT!! ....Russell D. in Olympia, WA
KB6YAF It is a nice piece of kit. What position on the face of a clock are your Q width and frequency notch filters?

What does “DI” stand for?
Direct injection
"Gross rumble down below" = Last night's Taco Bell run...
Does this have stereo Input (tip and ring) to run two pickups through one 1/4" jack
To the best of my knowledge it does not.

Thanks, for the reply. I appreciate your show keep up the good work. I tried to look it up but didn't find anything.
strange u said the tuner is decent.. it’s slow and not accurate at all!

Makes me wonder if you have used this thing at all. The tuner is not very accurate at all..
Sponsored review, what else is he going to say. The DI is great but the tuner... ah.... not so much...
