Many people don't understand Scaler 2 and find it too complicated. Just what the different areas do and how you can use them is not so easy to understand. Perhaps we need more videos like this one, which explains Scaler 2 in a practical and simple way.
I want a video where i easy and direct see how to overworked a chord of a recorded melody in a vst synthesizer and how to improve in scaler, now i understood the capture button. But the output is not sitting correctly for the melody part. Boah boring. i want an easy plugin thats recognize my melody and make me a chord directly as midifile in my cubase or whatever a daw someone uses...
@@SchoolofSynthesis I agree with @devarni. Thanks for the video. As I watched the video I kept thinking "hey how can I balance a journey of learning that gives me enough practical knowledge to apply it to my song writing and keep me learning more about not just scaler 2, but musc theory in general.
Such a powerful plugin. I'm really glad to have this particular video, because i lost touch with Scaler since it was first released and i've missed all the updates and i need to start my learning curve from scratch. So, perfect video for me! Thanks
No matter your level of musicianship or theory, this seems like an amazing tool and something to keep yourself from getting trapped in a box and keep the creative blood flowing consistently.
You're welcome and thank you. You're not alone! We thought it was time to make an up to date recap video to run alongside the course so really between the two you can learn absolutely everything you need to know about Scaler 2. Hurts me to think that thousands of people aren't realising its potential because of its complexity.
@@davidecarbonemusicGood to know about the update video and the course (which I'll purchase) goes hand-in-hand. Sure it can be a complex piece of software, but on the other hand we can use what works for us and then build upon them. Until I learn music theory via the keyboard myself, I look forward to Scaler 2 as being one of my aids toward getting there. Keep on pushing!
Oh my!!! I am currently working on a song, and I'm having a hard time figuring out which chords to use for the verses. It's going to be fun. I'm buying this right now. Thanks so much for this guide. 😎
One surprising and interesting application of Scaler 2 has been letting it control Drums. I route Scaler 2 into a synthesizer VST with a drum kit mapped to the keys, and then explore Scaler's Performance modes. I've had some radically inventive and catchy rhythms drop out of it! It's really flexible too, as you tweak drum sounds in your synth, change performance modes, performance playback settings, etc. Try different chords for different hits!
We have a few of our users do that and wield some great results using the performances as you mentioned. Funnily enough I have never tried that myself but will do!
Good idea. I use one drum program to trigger another for example I turn off the sound on drum computer and turn midi on gadget and let the drum pattern trigger the different drum machines on gadget or Any Daw and hit record and it records the pattern..then I run through the different kits with amazing results. If you use two or more drum kits linked together you get pretty sophisticated realistic drum patterns. Sounds like you are doing this already.. I like two have two genres playing on two kits synced like rock/Latin.. or disco/house with clave.
David, you are the best instructor i've seen so far - clear and very engaging to watch - so much that i bought the plugin cause i watched your video. thanks!
Hi👋 & Thank you so much. Today, I will be using Scaler 2 to help with songwriters block. The last few days, I have had zero inclination and wherewithal to be creative. Absolute apathy. The performance features in Scaler are next level. Slaved to a sequencer like Stepic you can make some amazingly complex semi-generative music. It would be nice to have another layer or two of randomization inside of the performance menus though and the chord playback duration settings are a bit challenging to work with. Maybe I just haven't fully figured them out but it seems like they don't quantize to the timing options properly. Perhaps a graphic that showed where the notes fell in a measure as you were setting the chord duration would make it clearer what was going on. Sounds like a lot of work to actually pull off...
