The FF characters floating when they dash signifies their intense initial dash to their enemies. Kinda the same with Sora, but he's got the magic to enable it.

Sephiroth is poorly balanced due to being balanced to be "fair" for lower skill casual players, than competitive ones which is why he hardly sees high level competitive play these days and is also partially why he can't win majors, or even consistently. Sephiroth's flaws of being really light weight combined with a tall hurtbox, so-so ground and air mobility(Without wing), some lackluster frame data and poor out of shield options, and having to play around two types of sweetspots for his sword attacks to be effective, on top of that, dooms him to bottom high tier status at best, which is far from the top. I wanted Sephiroth to be great, but the balance team failed him, and a lot of other characters.

I was rooting for Ned even if I'm also an Mkleo fan! But good set regardless! The hard thing in this matchup is that Byleth is really difficult to edgeguard, and that's where Sephiroth shines. Also Seph is too light for no reason.
ngl ned got one of the worst brackets I've seen having to play leo for the first time is one thing but having to go through a top player gauntlet for top 32 is pretty bad

Flare is too slow yes, but Scintilla is busted. It is risky, but it is one of Seph's best tools and should definitly be used at the right moments, especially when edgeguarding.

Not happening. The balance team quickly disbanded after Sora the last DLC character was released. Probably because Nintendo / Namco Bandai had no other DLC content to sell players to keep the money coming in, so they dropped support of the game so they could move on to their next project(s). Would have been nice if they supported the game for at least 6 months after Sora so they could balance it better, because even though Ultimate's overall balance is the best a Smash Bros. game has seen to date, it's still not really good and a lot of characters are bad and are unviable, or are poor and require too much work and luck to have a real chance at being successful in competitive play.
Sephiroth's neutral B isn't good against high level players and some of the characters they use due to how telegraphed it is. He tried it a few times like Leo to edgeguard and pressure at the edge but Leo got around it. Sephiroth's down B counter is incredibly risky to use against Byleth because if Sephiroth misses he leaves himself open to Byleth's various hard hitting attacks which can take him out at even middling percents. Sephiroth just isn't that good.

Byleth has faster frame data, consistent kill set ups, a broken recovery, two out of shield options, tech chase kill set ups with terrible mobility and y’all say she’s bad. Seph literally has slower frame data, no out of shield, dies so early and has sour spots. His neutral is grab and side b. There is no way people can think seph is more consistent of a character than Byleth.
Seph has better mobility and projectiles He has kill confirms and set ups and tech chases The counter could stop the up b recovery The wing can be inconsistent but it can be a great comeback mechanic, he needs more weight though since his frame data reflects more of a heavy Seph has the better ftilt, that and fair and nair and juking out with soft cancels of neutral b are also part of his neutral MKLeo is the best in the game and although Ned lost 3-0 on paper two of these games were dead even

Flare is horrible in neutral and very situational in disadvantage. Mkleo did not leave any openings to make Ned feel confident in using neutral b
