Well, I don't know if you trust MKleo fully, but in the interview after Genesis he was actually asked why he never went Corrin.
Basically he just answered he wasn't "feeling it" with his Corrin. He was "feeling it" with byleth.

Sparg0 has made so much progress to fight neck and neck against Leo like this. It's such a treat to watch!
And I'm sure Leo has spent a lot of time studying Spargo's game, and still has a hard time playing against him, almost always making it to game 5 if they play.
Instead, look at his game against Light, obviously Leo studied the Matchup and brutally contained it.
It's rare for them to beat Leo, and not to mention 2-3 consecutive tournaments is almost impossible, because you're going to meet an even more refined Leo.
Leo is given alot of frogiveness against Fox.

this match was so close man, these players are so close in skill level its insane. they stayed hit for hit, stock for stock almost the entire set.
i honestly wouldnt put them so close in skill, might have been the different ways they played but gluto was able to 3-1 spargo while getting 3-0d by leo twice, honestly might be the stress getting to gluto or maybe him finding it easier against spargo than leo, but im honestly not sure
this whole match was intense asf
@@MasterPojoway Smash doesn't work in a way where A > B and B > C then A >> C. Experience against an specific player and character matter a lot. Leo and Gluto practice a ton together so he knows the matchup pretty well and Sparg0 has traded sets with Gluto before but he isn't as practiced in that MU. At Collision, Leo lost to Sparg0 and Tweek, and Sparg0 beat Tweek, did it mean that he was far better than Leo? Of course not.

I always love how the crowd is sort of against him on almost every match because they want the underdog to win but they end up cheering him in resignation due to plays/interactions like this (11:40) its like, well what can we say against that? Just clap, sheer respect haha

Absolutely crazy looking at how this set was played compared to others in top 8. Gluttonny vs Kola was so punish-based, where they'd hit each other once and rack insane amounts of damage off it. Then on the other side of the coin you have these two, nickel and diming eachother in a chess game of neutral. You really can play this game at a top level with emphasis on whatever playstyle you want.

I think the same, there is a very marked difference between both clashes.
Leo vs. Tweek is almost always one player dominating the other, and usually in Leo's favor, although diddy kong is tough for Leo.
Instead Leo vs. Spargo is a war to the death, where neither one can overwhelmingly surpass the other, even if it ends 3-0 in favor of either, they are always very close battles.

Leo defeated Sparg0 in a very dominant fashion with corrin last time they faced. He could have done the same again but choses to go Byleth to assert dominance and make it clear that his Byleth has not been “figured out”. The amount of confidence this guy has is just astronomical. On a side note, Sparg0 gotta have the best DI in the business. The amount of time I have seen him survive situations where 99% of other players would have died is just ridiculous.

I feel like a weakness spargo has in this rivalry is prepping for multiple characters. Once spargo takes a set Leo just switches up characters and he isn't ready. Last time wasn't ready for Corrin. This time was expecting Corrin and wasn't as ready for byleth again
to be fair, his win against Leo at collision was also very close. I think the way he played here wasn't much different than before. I don't think he underperformed against the byleth, it's just leo was able to clutch it out this time around in more last hit situations.
I dont think its that. With Corrin specifically they are so good at whiff punishing Cloud. Something Leo never did consistently with his Byleth vs Spargo. So i think playing Corrin has shifted Leos mindset and he's applied it to Byleth. Notice how Spargo and Light didnt get as many bair kills on him like they did at Summit and Collison. Leo has adapted significantly again.

OMG Freakin Leo just loves to suffer... Why the heck does he go with Byleth against Cloud? Where is the reasoning behind it? Corrin VS Cloud is a way better matchup for Leo. He won this time and I am very happy about it but like past sets, Sparg0 could have won and by much.
Byleth is his best character. He felt like the Byleth could do it
He also has the most fun with Byleth and that motivates a player to be their best
I agree with you. Corrin does way better than Byleth vs Cloud. But I think to some extent Mkleo just gonna pick the right character instead of the correct one, and thats how everyone should deal with life.
He is playing Byleth because he wants to play Byleth and is confident he could win. The best player in the world knows what he's doing trust me.

Marss as of late is proving to be just as inconsistent as esam and wadi, tweek only did bad this tournament.
