    Damn I love this one, like most your mixes, some are just instant love and enjoyment, and even though this and the accompanying GST Mix were and are shorter than most the other mixes, I think that helped make this one so good with having a super tight tracklist on this one! I knew their would be the inclusions of Side Pocket and Minnesota Fats, Side Pocket is just one of the most relaxing and grooving soundtracks you could ask for and for being basically a "gentle" Genesis OST it's pretty impressive for achieving that, Data East was just on it with those two pool games, and the fact they put in effort for a Jukebox is so appreciated, I wish many more developers made time for something like the way it was done there (especially for Fats showing the VU Meters), but sometimes just having a simple soundtest in general was the best we got.
    All the other tune inclusions from Viewpoint, Super Hydlide, Outrunners, Sonic & Knuckles and even Dick Tracy just worked so well, and that cover at the end, just cements it perfectly, and always nice to see the actual performance from those cover groups! I've enjoyed seeing your work grow and hearing these specific themes for the Mixes as I formulate my thoughts here after letting these mixes sit with me for awhile, always enjoy giving my silly thoughts here so hope the kinda lengthy comments here aren't too much, haha! Keep it up GST! :D

    A lovely accompaniment to the original Jazz mix; it's a neat genre to hear in FM form, and the selections in this mix are all fantastic (I especially appreciated the Dick Tracy MD rep; I dig that game's score a lot). Again, thanks for all that you do on this channel, and I greatly look forward to the next mix~! c:

    You'd do an amazing DJ man, I wish there were nightclubs that made megadrive-specific events.

    Thank you fox this mix! I listen to it almost daily :D
    O.M.I.S.E. sounds unreal for Genesis... The flute/recorder sample is so nice.
    Also 4:03 reminds me of Tatsuro Yamashita's Funky Flushin' a lot :D

    Did you mean to do that? That shot was pretty nice.
    This is definitely my favourite mix of yours. You've basically taken everything I love about music from '90s videogames and bundled it up into this nice little package.

      lol, no, I was trying to get the red ball in the pocket but I managed to get a neat trick shot instead. and of course I had to include it in the video!

    Cool. Some nice jazz sounding tunes in these as well if you're making more parts: Dynamite Headdy, Shadow Dancer, TF4, Star Cruiser, Shinobi 3, Treasure Land Adventure (Cave) and Jewel Master.

    Ahhh, Side Pocket, at least :D A game I love listening to anytime.

      Huh, wait, isn't Side Pocket tune slowed down ?

    • @GSTChannelVEVO
      @GSTChannelVEVO  7 лет назад

      Yep, I try to keep the tempo fairly stable if possible, and was aiming for 114 BPM here. The original Side Pocket tune is closer to 126 BPM.

    Geez, GST, I wouldn't miss that first ball xD
    And well, I have OutRunners on my Genesis (a great game of course), thanks for mentioning it!

    What can I say, perfect visual company, great mix and awesome selection. Subbed for sure! Do you have your collection sorted in tonality, scale?

    • @GSTChannelVEVO
      @GSTChannelVEVO  7 лет назад +1

      haha, that would be a good idea, but no I just wing it every time I make a mix.
      I do have some tunes sorted into rough categories like "you can dance to this" or "you can chill to this" but that's about it...

    After the Warehouse stages, you should've added In The Bar from Streets of Rage 2. Would've blended perfectly.

    There's something about Data East and FM synths that goes hand in hand. They just -get it-, ya know.

    Reminds me of Casiopea's 1st homonymous album from 1979

    I love this, but was surprised to not hear ATP Tour Championship Tennis in it.. but maybe that was too fusion for this mix.

  • @ShapeyFiend

    Side Pocket is a very middling game, and impossibly hard past the midway point but the music is something else. Reason I kept renting it.

    Why Super Hydelide theme sounds so musch familliar? Like from mario or Zelda, can't remember, but it's deffinatley was "stolen"

    Holy shit how do I get the rip you got for some of these songs? The very first one sounds so much better in your video than anywhere else on RUclips!

    • @GSTChannelVEVO
      @GSTChannelVEVO  3 года назад

      I usually render Genesis music straight from VGMPlay. for some reason, there are a handful of youtube channels that use some other renderer that doesn't sound as good.
      quadfactor's 30 minute version of the song is good

  • @kappuru

    viewpoint was such a weird little shmup on the megadrive. the music might even be a little better than the neo version!

    Great mix... although I'm not sure the bit at ruclips.net/video/MnJC2k9f7FA/видео.html works. What happened to the bassline there?

    • @GSTChannelVEVO
      @GSTChannelVEVO  7 лет назад

      I thought the bassline on that tune was a little overpowering, so I mixed it down and EQ'd it a bit. Maybe it's too overt of an edit?

    • @happyspaceinvader508
      @happyspaceinvader508 7 лет назад

      Not a fault with your mix at all... just some bizarrely atonal musical ideas from Sonic Team. I had another listen to this music in the original game... the bassline in parts sounds like its playing in a completely different key to the other channels (and IMHO, not in a legitimate Jazz kind of way). On first listen to your video, I thought you were mixing in some different bassline alongside! My bad.

    • @GSTChannelVEVO
      @GSTChannelVEVO  7 лет назад

      I always though that the bassline in the original Mushroom Hill Zone was a bit overdone, so to speak. (Hence the attempt at toning it down in this mix!)
      but yet it's such a classic song that it's hard to change without resulting in a completely new feel.
      Kinda funny how that works out.
