An incredible Mix as usual! The Bossa Nova is so strong on this one and I'm here for it, it's fantastic showcasing these kind of vibes from the Genesis/Mega Drive, I really feel it's something people don't give enough credit for with this console, but of course it also hits home just how much Japan got the good stuff for music, so makes it even tougher for people to have taken a look into these. But pretty much the mid Golf section is one of the my favorites of the Genesis mixes, and it's great with all the info about these games, as Golf games are practically non-existent in my mind of what I know (pretty much just Mario Golf), but the 3D Simulation series is really cool, even with the framerate, sometimes the technical achievements are just something to smile and appreciate. And yes the 5:20 transition is a serotonin hitter, I love direct cut/transitions into another, and that Wimbledon track is such a feel good winning track it nearly brings another tear to my eye (gosh anosci, why you have the Genesis Mixes around this time make me so emotional, lol).
It's also interesting how dominant this mix was with the Sports & Simulation games, and those composers that did the "New 3D Golf Simulation" games are truly to be applauded, what an outstanding score on those games which help make their legacy last even longer, I truly hope those composers see stuff like this and how much we greatly admire and respect there work, definitely composers I'm sure you've contacted and had Artist Features have that feeling, but the ones that did these smaller/obscure games and likely saw this as simple and temporary work for themselves in a VGM career know the music they provided to these games help in so many ways beyond just being remarkable bangers, jams and just chill tunes. Thank you as always anosci for your work making these and what you do here!
most underrated channel on youtube
The Nikkan Sports Pro Yakyuu VAN track is really something special
New 3d Golf: Devils Course is kind of a meme / motif among myself and my friends, made me very happy to see the title of this video
4:25 is probably the smoothest tempo change I've ever heard
my favorite yet, i cant get enough of bossa type music
The Championship Win theme is actually one of my favorites in this mix and I can't think of a way I would have heard it otherwise! Appreciate this chill mix 👍
Soothing music for sleeping time, thank you!
I agree, that's actually why I came here!
Hey! I'd like to take a moment to make sure you've voted on what console I should cover next!
see this video for details: ruclips.net/video/LiforP9lvpk/видео.html
Voting ends next week!
Dude, that last track (8:21) is super ASMR music like nothing else in this world.
GST your work is permanently amazing. You're doing gods work for all YM2612 addicts out there
nice, perfect for a work session
Another solid mix, GST.
The yellow thing from Toxic Crusaders looks exactly like the cursed toothy Pac-Man meme.
Love it! Great idea for a mix...
more mixes like this please! i need more bossa/ smoove jazz
mmm, dank chords and dithered grass.
Ah yes, Frederic Mentzen, one of my fave composers. He's actually has a youtube channel with original music on it (but none of his game sruff, from what I can tell).
got some legacy music hour-approved classics in here i see
Nice mix! I'm playing through the T&E golf games at the moment so it was a nice surprise. A shame you didn't include music from the Pebble Beach game (which was the only one to get a Western MD release, not Waialae). I play the games using the Picodrive emulator with CPU set to 400% and power meter set to slow - they feel like a modern golf game.
Oh whoops, that is indeed a mistake on my part. It should have read "this is the only New 3D Golf game *from this mix* to ever see a port outside of Japan", and even that is a little confusing. I'll add a note in the description!
As for Pebble Beach: that's a really good soundtrack for sure! Hopefully I can fit it into GST++MIX #6 as more than just a cameo.
7:25 CONGRATULATIONS CHROME DOME!
Hey, only tangentially related to the video, but people on youtube have found out that some of t&e soft's later golf games may have stolen music from former Jaleco composer Atsuyoshi Isemura. I wonder if you've heard anything about this?
I've heard *of* this, but haven't dug into it myself. Some of the evidence I've seen [from TJams3's video] is pretty damning. I'm not sure if that extends to the 16 bit era, but it seems perfectly plausible. I'd love to hear if someone more familiar with the DTM scene has something to say.
Really enjoyed this.
I'm slightly obsessed with the jazz fusion OST for Pebble Beach Golf Links for Sega Saturn (you can hear it here www.zophar.net/music/sega-saturn-ssf/pebble-beach-golf-links). So I went hunting for more by Yumi Kinoshita and here I am.
