New 3.0GT6 diesel xdrive arrived in September - so far completed 3,000 miles in total comfort and averaging 42 to the gallon. Love it!
Love it. I'm a chauffeur, and SPACE is so important - the 6GT is sedan-like enough to use as a limo, but with a fantastic boot. Even if BMW lowered the price of the 7-series to match it, I'd STILL prefer the 6 GT due to the practicality. Well done BMW!
Greg Sullivan Eh the 7 series is more practical than one may think. Rear legroom is better in this though but it’s still a lot cheaper. Going from a 7 to a 5 for example really lets you see all the cost cutting between them

In the states, these are getting heavily discounted to the point it cost basically the same as a X3 M40i. I would definitely pick this over the X3
I really like this car, it’s a 4x4, a little sporty and a fantastic cruiser. A used car bargain.

Seems more suited for Europe where hatchbacks are more popular. But, huge. I saw one in Brussels and it was a hulk in traffic.
Excellent car and as fast as you like in 640i version. I sold my 7 series to buy this as I did not like looking like a chauffeur and I appreciate the huge load space -more than a 5 series Touring - for real world driving. I would direct serious buyers to the ‘savagegeese’ review of this car which shows the technology of the underpinnings of this car.

Nope, it was the F07, which was the first launch of the 5 Series F10 platform.

The F07 was 100% based on the 7 series chassis and platform. Even the dash was from the 7 and used tech not available in the 5 series at the time. I have one in the driveway 😂

Yep it was, the inside has the spaciousness of the 7 series, I should know I have a f07 5gt also and it's awesome. Im loving the performance and all. Full double lumbar ssd's support. This seat will hug you in many ways Rebbeca won't lml.
I owned one and I liked it but with the run flat tires the ride is awful and the car feels toyish.
Make sure you get regular tires for it.

This is a family car for hauling bulky items. It's not a A7, CLS or Panamera rival.
Agreed... although I'd argue it is a Panamera ST (wagon) rival. I think of the 6-GT as an alternative to an E-Class wagon or one of those hideous SUV-Coupe things.
If you drive one on a long distance cruise - you will see the A7 and CLS are simply not in it's class. Both are better looking ( perhaps personal opinion ) but neither come close to the 5/6 Series GT for comfort. No contest..

I know its an old video, but why would you make a shaped centre rear seat section- instead of it being flat-so the 5th passenger could actually sit more comfortably. Still to this day car companies get this so wrong

The 5 Series GT ( which is what this re badged car is ) was based on the 7 Series platform and was never based on the 5 series platform - so nothing new here.

But for me aesthetics trump practically
Beautiful and so much more practical than Mercedes CLS - not only Merc is built for minions, at the back your head will hit the ceiling if you're taller than average 13yo plus the boot doesn't open hatch back style. Completely impractical, not to mention some poor quality interior elements like scratchy plastics. I've owned 5GT, which looks much better interior quality than 6GT but still a very decent substitute.

ZS K I do like SsangYong, especially the newer models. The older ones are also likeable for offering so much for little money - but the Rodius and Musso were spectacularly ugly. I'd still rather have one of them than spending £50k on this godawful BMW!

@@alexshe9552 I'm planning to get one next year. I think this 6 series GT looks very good. Previously I was a big Audi fan but what they've done with the latest models of A6 and A7 its just a joke. They look like christmas trees inside with all the displays around.
Ace review as always Rebecca. I have never been a fan of this GT series and this one is no different. The front looks typical BMW but the back and 3/4 back looks horrible and lardy. The CLS looks much better and the A7 better still.
The 5 Series GT is not 5 Series based. It's just as much 7 Series based as the 6 Series GT.
They need to stop trying to cross a saloon, SUV and coupe, and just build a pure coupe again.

More leg room, and a more sedan-like appearance. I love it, and will be seriously considering it for my next limo. (I'm a limo driver). I think it will sell very well here in Australia, due to the demise of the Holden Caprice.

Had 2 5GTs... Brilliant cars. Looked at the 6GT - not as good, so I've got a 7 series instead. Much better!
The new relaxed presenting style is worlds better than the old top gear style. Please keep it up, the fake presenting didnt work. But PLEASE, stop encouraging dirty diesels. They will be gone soon.

Andy S have a look on car throttle at how long diesel cars can last. Name me ONE electric car which can last that long. Let’s see if you change your mind in 10 years time when the world is polluted with thousands of tonnes of batteries lying around that cannot be recycled. Building electric cars is much worse for the environment than building diesel cars which inevitably last longer and have increasingly advanced technologies to reduce Nox emissions. Electric cars are not the future, yes they are great in towns and cities for reducing emissions, but overall diesels last longer and are better for the environment with high MPG and emissions lowering every single year. Dieselgate has made sure of that.
Of course they are the future. You have none of your facts correct. Not a single electric car produced has had to be retired due to its batteries. But when they do they will be used for the mega chargers by the side of the road to charge cars. How long do you think the Jag ePace will last? As long if not longer than any other ICE car produced. Diesel car emmisions literally kill people. Thats why they will soon be phased out. If you dont realise that then its you who needs to question how much you know about cars. Try investigating electric cars and diesel emissions yourself instead of reading the daily fail for your info.

JR S Perhaps you have been deluded by dieselgate and other news reports, not all diesels have to be dirty and emissions laws are being lowered. New technology is reducing nox emissions and diesels are capable of more miles and better mpg. Fact. Using petrol and electric cars can be more damaging to the environment in many circumstances.

Rebecca is charming, but the number of incorrect facts at first minutes of this video is shocking. The statement that 5GT F07 was based on 5-series F10/F11 insulted me, as previous owner of 5GT 530d and 5GT 535i X-drive. "Only beaten by Mercedes 2.9L diesel" - sorry what?? "A7 and CLS" - should not be mentioned in this review.
