This video was part of my decision making process and I can report that I would not trade it for any other family car. There's a compromise with any other option, and that's still amazing to me after almost 2 years. We're almost out of warranty, so the B58 hasn't even woken up yet. 500WHP on E85 here we come. Massively impressive that you nailed so many aspects of the model in 45 min.
much better fuel economy than our X7 and faster/quicker. Doesn't corner as well though but no less roomy. Wish there was something in the aftermarket for it to help turn in and less roll. Maybe the ARS and twin axle version don't have that problem. Trouble is we didn't get those options in the US
I've had this car from new for about 4 years now and I absolutely love it! It is not the greatest looker, but not much beats it in practicality. Rear seat legroom, wow!. Nothing out there in its class beats it. Boot space with or without back seats folded is exceptional. I've decided to keep it as I have not been able to find an adequate replacement with everything new out there. The comfort levels on the motorway as well is very good indeed. I decided to comment on your video because it was the one that swayed my decision in getting this car 4 years ago. Many thanks for that really as it has been one of my best motoring decisions. I quite like the fact that it has been discontinued too. Makes it more unique in my opinion.
Your're absolutely right - I'm strongly considering buying it as a family car. Now I have 5er F11 and it is just to tight for my family in the cabin (although boot of course is spacious enough). But soon I won't need to travel with a stroller so I don't actually need a touring and I want to have comfort in puting my kids in their car seats in the the back and taking a seat as a driver, so yes, this is a great alternative for an SUV :)
Absolutely fantastic vehicle. Last year I debated between X3 and 3GT and finally went for the GT. No regrets at all. Nicely configured in spline white with black 18 inch rims and stylish details. I observe many drivers turning their heads after it on the road. Great review Joe.
Best 6 GT review so far. I just wish you guys would stop using the word 'ugly'. Ugly isn't this. Anyways, of all other reviews, I think you 'get' the 6 Series GT. Kudos.
I’ve had my 2018 630i for about 2 weeks now, coming from a 2015 520d GT which I had for 4 years and loved it ! This has been a fantastic replacement, thought it would be much more juicy on fuel being a petrol but is turning out to be better around town so far, its got loads of power when I need it and its nice to open the widow and not hear the sound of the diesel engine to be honest, the tech and the overall improvements from the old shape are next level and the headroom and general space is huge !! Oh and the Harman Kardon sound system is relentless and has great sound quality all the up through the volume range. Coming from owning two 5 GTs over the years I’m loving the way it looks too.
Looks like a big improvement on the old car - literally! Good review. Watched your channel for a while now as you seem to have similar likes in cars to me, so it's always good to hear your view on something I haven't driven. You say the car is not particularly your sort of thing, but don't then just slag it off as many would. As enthusiasts we have to try and remember people buy cars for many reasons, as you point out here. Like you I'm a huge BMW group fan. I think for the money they are hard to beat, especially if you value how a car drives. I've noticed a steady improvement in your vids btw - better camera angles and sound, tighter editing and script that is still natural but less repetitive. Keep up the good work!
I think this will sell well over here in Australia, to chauffeur drivers. We used to have a very large and cheap locally made sedan - the Holden Caprice. Now that it's no longer made, the only way of getting a sedan with the same interior and boot space is to spend about 4 times as much, on an S-class, A8L, 7-series, or LS. The 6-series GT is probably "sedan-like" enough to get away with for most sedan work, but costs a lot less than the aforementioned alternatives - particularly the upcoming 620d model. I applaud BMW loudly for creating this very interesting vehicle.
Nice review Joe, I have the 2013 face lift 535d M sport and it’s a great family car, my kids are tall and enjoy the rear seats. The Diesel engine is smooth and economical for its size, great 2nd hand bargains.
Am looking at changing my 2015 Mercedes ML (Which as been amazing over the years I've owned it, definitely recommend them ) & a "640i GT" is on my list of considerations there's nothing on the road like it !, Great video Joe !
Your review encouraged me to get one, so far loving the car. Went from an X5 to 5 series (530e) however quickly felt the 5 series wasn’t for me, however I feel the 6 is a great fit !!
I really hope that BMW would keep 6 GT for future as well, it's very underrated and my personal fav. If anyone from BMW is reading this, just give the customers of X5 and 5 series a complimentary test drive of 6 GT. It will help boost the sales for the 6. Maybe even launch a M6 GT.
Not many people I've watched could carry a16 min. review on a 640i gt. But the whole video was worth watching. Great effin job. I now love this car & am getting one Boston USA cause it blends in. Subscribed. Thx
Cheers Pete :-) Not many UK press/RUclipsrs turned up to this 6 GT Launch, I literally had 40 mins with the car so was all a bit rushed. Thanks for the sub, have a great Christmas!
Hello Joe & all tuned in, his reviews are spot on, when I lived in Europe I had partly the same jobs, along with racing. I'm looking at the gt6, no BMW touring in the US. The AMG touring rides to hard for passengers. Now Audi etc...
I’ve had a 640i for 2 years. It is incredibly powerful and fast for a 2 tonne plus family car. The rear spoiler can be left in the ‘up’ position and improves the rear end substantially. Comfort plus setting is great for relaxed driving and for spirited driving using full air suspension option ‘dynamic’ uses GPS to read the road - I believe this system is used in the Rolls Royce Wraith along with the ZF 8 speed auto, I could not tell the difference between this and the 7 series in terms of comfort. Quality of materials is very good and the paint finish is very durable (by modern standards e.g. Tesla paint fails...)
This is a car that will primarily sell in markets that don't like estate cars, e.g. USA, China, UAE. I have to say, even though it's still no looker, the overall design is heaps better than the 5er GT.
It would be nice to see an updated review of this car as I have some challenges when looking for my next BMW to replace my 5 Series. I'm looking for the ultimate comfort, with ability to fold rear seats down with all the driving assistant options. Was thinking of a 5 tourer, but that only has rear air suspension.
Good video! Love the lack of clichés! This car is good looking - I really don't know what the fuss is all about. Must be great to own one as a family get-around.
Gran Turismo is like Z3 Coupe was when came out. Not many liked look of but will in future and be a great classic. I never liked look until seen one in flesh and now own a 2014 535d gt and have to say wow what a car. It is so smooth, fast and quiet inside. It’s a very big car that makes 20” wheels look small. Very well engineered and a seriously safe car. Once you try one like Z3 will fall enough. I also bought a Z3 lately and would love to get a Z4 coupe maybe one day.
How the F.... do you only have 20k subscribers??? I won’t be pursuing a channel based on the M240 I spoke to you about. You’re a legend and I could never do the quality filming and camera presence you have. Keep up the great work and I love your channel.
Very nice car. I've owned an e34 530i, 740iL, 728i, 330Ci M Sport and a 530d GT. I bought myself a new 630d GT (awaiting delivery). The GT gets so much flack for its looks, but I'm a fat man with a bad back. I prize a comfortable, enjoyable drive over anything - I don't care for "sporty driving". I have a wife, 2 teenage boys and a dog. The 5 of us enjoy holidays in the UK, so we drive everywhere. This car has nearly as much cargo capacity as my soon-to-be-sold 64 plate Toyota (Prado) Landcruiser - and gets nearly double the mpg. I am very much looking forward to taking delivery of my new BMW 6 GT late December. Thank you for a good, unbiased review - just reinforces again that I made a great decision
Lovely cabin and I don’t think it looks too bad. But to me it’s a compromise that serves no purpose in that it’s not as practical as an x5 and doesn’t drive as well as a 5 series. Enjoying the content Joe and your honest reviews.
I always liked the 5GT but couldn’t understand why they didn’t build an M5GT or an M5 Touring in the latest incarnation BTW, I bought an M135i mainly because of your vids 👍
Liked and subscribed. Great review Joe. I think it's absolutely spot on how you've described this all new 6 GT and I believe you just expressed what BMW wanted to achieve with his car. This 6 GT is perfect for tall families who are looking for the roominess (in terms of seating and cargo) of an SUV but with the handling and fuel economy of a sedan. On top of that, it's better equipped than the standard 5 series, hence more bang for the buck. The design is gorgeous, it'll grown on you.
Great review as always Joe. I still can't get past the looks of the GT line I'm afraid. You're bang on regarding the looks of the 6 series Grand Coupe - such a great looking thing.
Great review as always Joe but I really don't understand this model or any of the GT series. It feels like BMW are trying to plug gaps in their line that don't really exist but there must be some demand for it or BMW wouldn't have made the effort in the first place. Personally and from a family car perspective I would go for the 5 series touring to get the luggage space, way better looks and kerb appeal, I suspect a better driving experience (lower and more agile and probably less weight) and add a few more options for the same or similar money.
hands down the sexiest bmw ever made so far. people say im old and i have old mens taste. i just like big mature cars. the old F07 GT is a little bit outdated but the LCi version is too damn beautiful specially with the carbon schwartz colour and full led headlights. God bless bmw design team
Hi Joe, this is one nice looking BMW just WOW it’s so eye catching also it looks creamy smooth with the suspension setup and as you say it picks up well when you put your foot down I would look at this prior to the 5 and for the spec and the price I would be sold no doubt about it Joe also I’m typing this as your giving your talk on this amazing BMW that’s it I’m a fan I’m sold if I had the money I would run to a dealership and pay cash with a great spec and would end up paying around £80k as I love toys maybe if available would like to test drive the M650i XDrive. What have you done to me Joe I think I may have to unsubscribe ( NO CHANCE OF THAT) wall Joe as ever a spectacular review very much enjoyed as ever Joe Best wishes Alan B 😃👍👍
Great review Joe. I really liked my old 530d GT...the kids absolutely loved the space in the back. I'm currently looking to replace my F15 40d X5 and I'm seriously considering a 6GT xdrive. I'm yet to test drive a 640i and 630d...will I prefer the lovely petrol engine and 0-60 of 5.2 or the better mid range of the diesel? I'm on my 4th 3ltr diesel BMW and fancy a change to petrol. Anyone experienced both 3ltr engines in the 6GT?
Hi I’m currently running a 535i touring and wondered if this is a credible alternative. I’m on my third 5 series touring and fancy a change but still need something practical and that can move 4 adults in comfort. I know the looks aren’t to everyone’s taste but I have to say I like it. Cheers Steven
It's a good thing BMW are sound proofing their cars and softening the ride a bit, they were the weak points. Focusing on insulation and isolation will pay dividends with electric ranges as well.
Another quality review Joe 👍. I think when and if I have a family I'd certainly consider one of these over the more predictable vehicles. I see this as a more premium Xsara Picasso... ideal for lugging kids, prams and shopping around with that huge boot without sacrificing your dignity as a car enthusiast! 😂
Your quite right about the private chauffeur, I can see many of these being sold in places like China and India where many buyers of this class of car have chauffeurs.
Nice review like always. I have to admit that i own a new BMW 540 xd G31 ( with active rear steering ) for a month and it is a sublime car. It drives so smooth and the power of this car is amazing. If You are once in Belgium you can always check my car out. Keep on doing the good work Joe!
Surely a G31 5 series tourer would be more cost effective if you needed space, performance and practicality. Oh and it looks much nicer in my opinion 🤔
I don’t understand why people compare this car to a touring it’s a completely different car. You wouldn’t compare a a7 to a a6 avant? Even tho it’s the same dashboard same platform? Or compare a a7 to a a6 even though are saloon type similar size cars. Who ever chooses this simply does not want a touring, it’s a nice looking exclusive car with sporty frameless rear doors good standard spec, something a touring or 5 series saloon will never have ... ffs you sheep need to stop it !
This comes across as one of those cars that despite the odd exterior, once you've spent time behind the wheel, you'd come to appreciate it for what it is/isn't and become less concerned with the looks.
Good review mate 👌 ok it's not the best looking car in it's category but like you said it's a very nice place to be inside got all the gear if it was me I'd go for the diesel 🖒
How do you find it ? I’m considering buying a second hand 630d X Drive. I love the looks and decent spec compared to 5 series. I presume boot will take a dog if parcel shelf is stowed away ?
In My Opinion the thing that breaks this car is the whole rear end rear window (GT) look. To me it just dosent look right. As a true sedan this would look really good!
I dont understand this so feel free to explain. But what is the difference in this and the X6? Is this an SUV or a car? They look the same but I feel like they are trying to go for two different markets.
You can adjust the height by 65mm if you specify full air suspension - or you could before BMW UK restricted import and model variants. The sports suspension drops ride height at speed, by 10mm.
@@nomad6-1 Thanks for taking the time to reply - yes, this car has a lot going for it suspension wise - I wish I had specified 4 wheel steering but on the plus side I’ve got 4 wheel drive for very good grip.
How can a brand new designed car looked dated already? Imagine this car in 5 years, it will look like a dinosaur. BMW are way behind Audi when it comes to design and the best looking car they have is still the 3 series imo
Andre Tennis. Because you have to understand....this car is a coupe but also a wagon and is also business class (7 series), and is also suv if you need. This car all in one and specifically designed for small circle of people. Regards. Petros
Andre Tennis u sure about that ? The gt line is a very good seller in many countries and appeared bec6of Chris bangle and I love the gt line We have a BMW 3gt and it is gr8
If only there was a 15 year old bimmer like this. My dad would have bought one of these instead of a Mondeo wagon. He cares 0 about the looks. And 100% about practicality. 5 series is just not enough for him and my 3 series coupe defenetially not.
I don't know what BMW was thinking about but I do know that 6GT meets my every single expectation of a car, coupe's looking, sedan's comfort, and suv's space. So, at least to me, why, why there are so many people who just don't like a GT, especially a 6GT.
So basically they just scrapped the 6 Series and replaced it with the so called 8 Series and left us with this 5 Series and are calling it a "6"...rrright. This is no 6 Series, smh.
Good video as usual. Interior may be a fine place to be. But that exterior...grim piece of auto design. Bulky haunches. No flow to the design. Too tall for the width. Wheels look 'lost'. Not one of BMW's best efforts.

I really like it! Everyone hates this car but everyone hated on the x6 and look how much of a success that was.. Great video joe!
Absolutely fantastic vehicle. Last year I debated between X3 and 3GT and finally went for the GT. No regrets at all. Nicely configured in spline white with black 18 inch rims and stylish details. I observe many drivers turning their heads after it on the road. Great review Joe.

One of the best reviewers on RUclips 🎉 keep driving especially the lovely luxury and sporty BMW’s
I must be one of the only ones who actually likes the look of this car.
I'm certain there are far more than the ones who would admit. This car is gorgeous !
I simply LOVE it!
You are not alone ....
word. this car is beautiful
This car is gorgeous. I think it is even better looking than the Panamera. Good to be Unique!!
I think this will sell well over here in Australia, to chauffeur drivers. We used to have a very large and cheap locally made sedan - the Holden Caprice. I drive 5 gt and i love it.
Will change to 6 series when time comes.
Best review on 6 GT I’ve seen. Really like your presenting style and felt you identified many good points.

Happy 3GT owner here. I'll be upgrading to 6GT next year. GTs are really great family cars and definitely cooler than wagons IMO.
ProGwardzista Cooler than wagons? Hahaha

Thank you for a good, unbiased review - just reinforces again that I made a great decision
Just read your comments sir. How is the 6 gt going for you. I had the 5 gt ,now a 5 series g30 and just traded it in for a 6 gt.
Lovely cabin and I don’t think it looks too bad. But to me it’s a compromise that serves no purpose in that it’s not as practical as an x5 and doesn’t drive as well as a 5 series. Enjoying the content Joe and your honest reviews.
I don't think it is that bad, and the wheels looks very good.

I like this car a lot it's unique way to avoid buying 5 series like many people do and still have great car.
Great review as always Joe. I still can't get past the looks of the GT line I'm afraid. You're bang on regarding the looks of the 6 series Grand Coupe - such a great looking thing.
I’d prefer the touring but it does look better than previous GT models
Another fantastic video from J. Achilles thank you sir.
The leather looks best in dark brown or other colour
But black doesn't give you the premium feel
Great review as always Joe but I really don't understand this model or any of the GT series. It feels like BMW are trying to plug gaps in their line that don't really exist but there must be some demand for it or BMW wouldn't have made the effort in the first place.

Top review Joe......pleased BMW are appreciating your influencing with this invitation😎
Hello, any update? How is it compared to the F15? Comfort, ride quality? Thanks
Very well done. Thank you for covering the 6 GT.
Hi
I’m currently running a 535i touring and wondered if this is a credible alternative.

great review Joe so impressed that I have just bought this car that you drove ..
Great review...why did they have to ruin the 6 series range?
Bought one of these after this video. Good car just missing something. New RRS on Friday
So what happens now with the previous generation 6 series? Aw man I loved the M6 gran coupe..
run flat tires add road noise due to more rigid sidewalls. Not as available back in the days of the 5 GT of 12 years ago
Just ordered the 30d xdrive msport from BMW lease deal at minute £475 two year term !!! Same price as a X1 couldn’t resist it sorry!
Do you like the 740i. Better than the gt 640 I need to carry handicap family members now sometimes
*+Joe Achilles the new 6 series coupe wont have the headlights connected to the grill, it will be similar to the current 6 series and 2 series bmw*
I know the current 6 series looks so damn sleek
I had a BMW 3 serie GT ! I loved this car
That diamond quilted leather is orgasmic! Not too sure about the looks :(
Surely a G31 5 series tourer would be more cost effective if you needed space, performance and practicality. Oh and it looks much nicer in my opinion 🤔
Yeah its where my money would go as a family man too, but the 5 Touring doesn't have the cabin space of one of these.
@@sousaandre3442 this GT is way better than the Touring! It's something different....... And clever
This comes across as one of those cars that despite the odd exterior, once you've spent time behind the wheel, you'd come to appreciate it for what it is/isn't and become less concerned with the looks.
How is it driving a Rolls Royce Ghost or Wraith in London? Is it hard to drive in the city due to its size?
Good review mate 👌 ok it's not the best looking car in it's category but like you said it's a very nice place to be inside got all the gear if it was me I'd go for the diesel 🖒
Gorgeous
Great review, always enjoy them
Very impressed by your review! Nice job!
Great review as always
I like your accent, which is really beautiful!!!
About to replace my 535 Touring with a 630D Xdrive M sport. Great car despite the looks!
How do you find it ? I’m considering buying a second hand 630d X Drive. I love the looks and decent spec compared to 5 series. I presume boot will take a dog if parcel shelf is stowed away ?
Nice one Joe!
A little correction: 0-60 is 5,1
I came to hate on it, by the end of the video I loved it...
Great video Joe. Your evolving and getting better and better! Keep up the good work!
So lemme get this straight. They make a new car that looks EXACTLY like a car they discontinued. Brilliant.
Don't the GT models depreciate much more heavily than other models?
Rob Booth Automotive Not in the US, I own a f10 and now they're a dime a dozen. The price tanked but not the GT
I’ve been looking at these; £25k now buys you a 2017/18 with 20k miles on. Stumbled across Joe’s video doing my research. £25k! Lol
It looks almost exactly like 5 series yet you claim it looks hell of a lot better, how?
In My Opinion the thing that breaks this car is the whole rear end rear window (GT) look. To me it just dosent look right. As a true sedan this would look really good!
Like a 5 or 7 series you mean?
I dont understand this so feel free to explain. But what is the difference in this and the X6?
Is this an SUV or a car? They look the same but I feel like they are trying to go for two different markets.
Look the same ?
Vile Nation Gaming its an SUV pinned to the ground with longer wheelbase. So its a car, limousine with 5 doors.
Niki Djakovic but isn't that the same as an X6?
Vile Nation Gaming no, its as low as car bro
Niki Djakovic ahhhh
This is a nice car Joe.
Never liked the look of these and things unfortunately havnt changed. Interior looks great though
Good review! Thanks
Why does he always say "between 5 series and 7 series"?
It's LITERALLY a 6 series!
+Ana Bang why does he leave a comment like that, it literally is a waste of time
Why make the 5 series GT ?

Diesel with X drive, would make a he'll of a company car for a family man
Is ground clearance more on the GT than on the sedan?
You can adjust the height by 65mm if you specify full air suspension - or you could before BMW UK restricted import and model variants. The sports suspension drops ride height at speed, by 10mm.
@@badgastein2 I'd really like to see those suspensions on more models. New cars are getting lower, but country roads aren't getting any better.
@@nomad6-1 Thanks for taking the time to reply - yes, this car has a lot going for it suspension wise - I wish I had specified 4 wheel steering but on the plus side I’ve got 4 wheel drive for very good grip.
Excellent car!
I don't understand the GT cars tbh and I love BMW
How can a brand new designed car looked dated already? Imagine this car in 5 years, it will look like a dinosaur. BMW are way behind Audi when it comes to design and the best looking car they have is still the 3 series imo
6 GT! The best BMW ever made
As long as it's a BMW I'm a fan
As musch as i love bmw i just dont understand what they're doing, too much gt car (also the gt line up is horrible) and less and less drivers car :((
Andre Tennis.
Because you have to understand....this car is a coupe but also a wagon and is also business class (7 series), and is also suv if you need.
This car all in one and specifically designed for small circle of people.
Regards.
Petros
Andre Tennis you’d be surprised how many cars they sell.. not many people in the real world buy "drivers cars"
Andre Tennis u sure about that ?
The gt line is a very good seller in many countries and appeared bec6of Chris bangle and I love the gt line
We have a BMW 3gt and it is gr8
Big one 👍as always
3 Baby seats in the back you say?! Shit sign me up!!!!! NOT!!!!!
4.8 second 0 to 60 mph when motorweek tested it
My dream car
I just bought this car , yes , exactly this one. lol
Good video as usual. Interior may be a fine place to be. But that exterior...grim piece of auto design. Bulky haunches. No flow to the design. Too tall for the width. Wheels look 'lost'. Not one of BMW's best efforts.
The normal 6 series is much sexier looking. This looks like a cheap wagon with bmw badge
