"Not that comfortable" and "doesn't handle that well"
Holy hell. What sort of car do you drive to make this "Not that comfortable"?? It is supremely comfortable - moreso than anything I've ever driven.
As for handling, I'll tell you that in the back roads of Wales, it handles pretty damn well and on point. It's not a racing car. It's a big, comfortable family GT. It is really good at that
Collected my new 6GT 3.0d xdrive on 1st September and so far covered 5,000 miles in total comfort. The 3.0d engine is as you described, silent apart from a lovely growl and so powerful. Sometimes l really need to use its full load capacity but usually just as a luxury car so it fits the bill perfectly. Without doubt the best car l have ever owned.
Jeff Wood hi there. Great to hear and thanks for the message. Do let us know how you continue to get on.
I had one for the last 3 months and its great. It is so roomy both in the front and back, very luxurious ride including long distances. I do not have lane departure and does have some blind spots issues which needs attention. Parking can be a night mare because of the xtra width especially if parking in spaces with big vehicles besides. Turning radius is also an issue for 3 point turns as well as mini roundabouts but otherwise, super comfortable, quiet and stylish.
The BMW GT requires a host of options to function to its maximum potential -full air suspension, 4 wheel ‘x’ drive, 4 wheel steer, head up display, 360 degree parking cameras....with those fitted I have a great car. M-sport brakes also a worthy addition. Since a 15% discount is sometimes possible on this car, that saving can be used towards purchasing these essential items. I am on my third GT so take my advice and not that of motoring journalists who may have only borrowed the car for a day.
Mine is arriving 28 December. Cannot wait
Great review :) As Joe Achilles said the looks are "slightly suspicious" but it's not bad. I could easily live with it. The interior is fantastic and it's designed for 4 up with luggage long distance cruising not B road blasting. There are plenty of other BMWs for that. The ride height ajustable air suspension option (Executive drive) probably resolves any roll and comfort issues. One reviewer likened the ride to Rolls Royce with the Executive Drive option specced and in comfort mode. I'll have to take his word for it.
stubones many thanks. Great to hear your thoughts. This model had the optional air suspension fitted. On the motorway and a smooth A-road, it’s lovely. It eats up massive distance with ease. On a county road (and not blasting it) it just rocks and rolls more then you’d expect (or want) and then it can crash through potholes. Would be an awesome luxury airport runner on the way to your business class seat, though.
How good is the ride with the standard suspension (air in the back like 5 series touring)?
Great review!Thank you!
That's much appreciated, thanks.
Good
I'm picking up a 2017 model in the next few days. I will provide feedback when I've clocked up a few miles
Good for you! Are you happy with that?
Hello Robin, ready for your feedback
Great Review. Thanks. So, which one should I buy, 5 series M sport or 6 series GT? and why? Will appreciate your comment.
Deval Parikh personal preference would be a 5-Series. A more rounded is better to drive. If you want the space then get the Touring.
Get the GT
Great Video Review. If It was me I would choose the 520d M Sport Touring
Jamie Pickles many thanks. How about a 530d or 540i? Oodles of lovely power.
It has a new 5 series interior and 7 series front lights
So I don’t know why it’s called the 6 series GT??
RUclips SUBSCRIBE BMW adaptive lights not 7 series lights 🤦🏻♂️
A lot of the things you cited are options so not a particularly useful review.
