My dad passed away when in 1989 of cancer when he was 34 years old. My mom was left a single mom in a foreign country with me, age 3. After two years of grieving, raising me, and working 45 hours a week on her feet for min wage, she managed to save enough money to buy herself a brand new car, which happened to be a ‘91 Pontiac Sunbird. That summer she and I embarked on our first mother-daughter adventure, we drove 14 hours across the country in that car and this song was one of the number one songs of that summer. Every time I hear this song it brings a tear to my eye! Thanks Mom!
As I came home from Afghanistan my Wife run into my Arms with Tears in her eyes. And my Dad played that Song so loud that in our Street all People can hear it! It was the best Moment in my Life
In 1991 I was servicing computers in an insurance office. In one cubicle worked a young lady. She had a framed picture of her husband on her desk, wearing a flight suit and posing beside a military helicopter. Then, this song came on the radio. She started singing along to it, rocking her head in rhythm. It was a moving experience, and tears well in my eyes to this day just remembering it.
I had just won a drawing for an inflatable raft at a local gas station. My Dad and I were leaving to go pick it up when my mother drove up. This song was playing on her radio. "Where are you going?" She asked. I laughed and answered "Where the ocean meets the sky, I'll be sailing." 🌊⛵🛶🐟🐟 Fondly remember the raft and this song. 😊
I asked my bartender to add this into the mix tonight. She did. When it reached the chorus the whole house sang along. It restored some of my faith in humanity.

I am sorry for your loss May his memory be cherished forever. We saw Rod live on Monday this week in California . My British 60+ years old husband never saw him live but loves him to bits as well. It was so magical for us to watch and listen to this legend.
Omfg!!! Yes I found it. I’ve been looking for this song for 25 years. Every since I had a dream with this song in it as a child. I couldn’t find it by lyrics because I couldn’t remember the lyrics. I had a hunch the other day as to who the singer was, and that hunch finally paid off.
This song goes out to the best friend I ever had, my dog Hunter, he had lightning in his veins. He literally saved my life once, and I don't mean "I'd have stuck a gun in my mouth if it wasn't for him" kind of saved my life I mean he literally saved my life. RIP my little buddy, I'll be seeing you again one day where the ocean meets the sky...
@Elizabeth Zago Spanjer He was the most fearless dog, or any creature man or beast, that I've ever come across in my life, he was a cross between a full size Australian Shepherd and a miniature one, so he wasn't the biggest dog in the world at 45 lbs but he was afraid of absolutely nothing, he took off after a Bull Mastiff once that was just trotting down the beach towards us simply because we were playing with a frisbee and I think that dog just wanted to play with us since it's owner's, who'd been playing frisbee with it, had gone into the water for a swim, but Hunter just didn't like that he was coming towards me and he took off after that thing fangs out and ran it back up the beach and that dog was a good two and a half to three times his size. He battled it out one time with an Osprey that landed in our backyard with a fish to eat and Hunter ran over and after tearing into that monstrous bird took it's fish off of it and was running around the yard flinging it up in the air taunting it while the Osprey had flown up to a tree branch and sat there watching the whole thing screeching in protest. He was all about protecting me and our home, the story about him saving my life a bit long to tell here but I will tell you this about him, he spent every night no matter how bad the weather laying on the front porch surveying the yard looking for threats, we had a very large yard around the house and he constantly stood vigil over the property, that's what makes me think about him when I hear this song, the line "Never will I roam, for I know my precious home...", that and the line "I've got lightning in my veins", boy he sure did. I've had, and still do have other dogs and I love them all to death but Hunter and I had a connection that's the kind of thing that comes along once in a lifetime, the people that knew us all saw it and used to comment on it, he even used to "flea" me with his front teeth the way dogs do it to themselves, he'd go all through my hair and beard doing it. I buried him with my medals from the Army, because it's like I've told people "He deserved them more than I do, if I've ever in my life come across a single creature with the heart of a soldier it was that dog".
I lost my grandmother in 2011 and my grandfather just turned 81. I spent a lot of my childhood and youth with them. Both loved Rod Stewart and played this song all the time when I was growing up. So this song holds very dear memories for me. I love them both dearly.

Please know that you are not alone. My dad was definitely a rod guy. The tour of this album many years ago was one of the best days of my life super bowl Sunday with rod and my dad.
I, also have a story with my mother and this song. I guess it was 1991, and my mother was visiting the United States. I took her on a trip to Lake Tahoe. At the hotel, I heard this song and I just fell in love with it. I took my mother on the tour of the lake on the paddle boat and had the meal on the boat where we met a couple from New Zealand. The song, the boat the Water, the company and Lake Tahoe, it just makes all sense. My mother since then died from Alzheimer, I am very glad I was able to spend that valuable time with her.
This song always gets to me. My father was army, airborne 7th Calvary mortars division, It always makes me think of them great men of my father’s generation, the ones who were able to come home and raise my generation the ones we lost to Asian Orange and suicide and the POW/MIA oh, my father’s friends and my uncles were Vietnam vets. The struggles them gentlemen had, and still are having If you can thank a Vietnam for their service, they were never given a thanks when they got back home

Oh, the rhythm of my heart Is beating like a drum With the words, "I love you" rolling off my tongue No, never will I roam For I know my place is home Where the ocean meets the sky, I'll be sailing

5 years ago, we lost Mum. She was a big fan of Rod’s and even though I never knew this song to be her favourite (I think his cover of Downtown Train was), the melody and rhythm makes a suitable anthem for her 👍👍 I made sure it was played at her funeral, along with her most favourite song “Kiss from a Rose”.

Across the street, the river runs Down in the gutter, life is slippin' away Let me still exist in another place Runnin' undercover of a helicopter blade The flames are gettin' higher in effigy Burnin' down the bridges of my memory Love may still be alive somewhere, some way Where they're downing only deer A hundred steel towns away Oh, the rhythm of my heart Is beatin' like a drum With the words "I love you" Rolling off my tongue Oh, never will I roam Now I know my place is home Where the ocean meets the sky I'll be sailin' Photographs, kerosine Light my darkness, light it up, light it up I can still feel the touch Of your thin blue jeans Runnin' down the alley I've got my eyes all over you baby, oh baby Oh, the rhythm of my heart Is beatin' like a drum With the words "I love you" Rolling off my tongue Oh, never will I roam Now I know my place is home Where the ocean meets the sky I'll be sailin' Oh, I've got lightning in my veins Shiftin' like the handle of a slot machine Love may still exist in another place I'm just yankin' back the handle, no expression on my face Oh, the rhythm of my heart Is beatin' like a drum With the words "I love you" Rolling off my tongue Oh, never will I roam Now I know my place is home Where the ocean meets the sky I'll be sailin' The rhythm of my heart Is beatin' like a drum With the words "I love you" Rolling off my tongue Never will I roam Now I know my place is home Where the ocean meets the sky I'll be sailin'

Für mich ist rod Stewart einer der größten Sänger die es gibt oder jemals gegeben hat weil ich glaube das solche Musik mit soviel Herz und Leidenschaft nie wieder geben wird
Because baby boomers still have his cds, tapes. Albums most likely wish I had mine, my kids in their 40s they heard his songs growing 👆 real songs so powefull ...
This is my favourite rod song ever I have seen him sing it many times and it still gives me goose bumps, the guy is a legend, how many of today's musicians will be still listened to in 50years time.
This brings back memories of me being a teenager in Nigeria wearing out the cassette tape of my father's rock collection playing this song over and over and over. Sometimes when we the electricity was out, which could run anywhere from several hours to days even, I'd play it on the car stereo and run the car battery down sometimes. This song and stairway to heaven.
Used to sing Rod Steward songs as a young boy in primary school unaware I was being noticed, one day my grand mother said to me someone is in love, I blushed and continued singing...may she continue to rest in power
Me....Being of First Generation Scottish American, I am so very proud as are my amazing daughter and my awesome son and now my precious grandchildren are also proud of their heritage. Been to Bonnie Scotland many, many times and have dear family there🙏🙏❤️❤️
Disabled Desert Storm Vet, spinal cord injury, this song and video put me back in a moment I can't ever forget. Not a fun place but somewhere I had to reconnect to.
Year 1991 i was a codriver as we conduct humantarian mission in Northern Iraq for the Turkish and he played this song to this day i still love this songs as it reminds me of that mission.
When I was only 3 years old, I heard this song at my aunt's house while she was babysitting me. She had it on a cassette tape and after hearing it the first time, she said it was as though I was entranced by it. She said that I listened to it over and over again for the rest of the day. She couldn't get me to do anything else that day. When she dropped me off at home with my parents she told them about it and since I liked the song so much, she gave me the cassette before she left. Between that day and a couple years later when I started kindergarten, my parents had bought that cassette twice because I'd literally play it until the cassette was physically played out. I honestly don't know what it was about this song that mesmerized me even at such a young age. I've never been affected by anything to the same degree since then. I'm 35 now and the song has taken on an almost reverential place in my heart. I almost never listen to it, because it affects me too much, but I love it.
Consider the possibility of it triggering a previous life memories, especially since it kicked in so fast at such a young age. Unlikely, but you never know
@@stevehenry1 I don't know if I believe in the theory of past lives. I mean, I'm not arrogant enough to make any emphatic statements one way or the other. I just don't know. However, there are certainly many strange and inexplicable phenomenons that make you wonder at the possibilities.

I am sorry for your loss May his memory be cherished forever. We saw Rod live on Monday this week in California . My British 60+ years old husband never saw him live but loves him to bits as well. It was so magical for us to watch and listen to this legend.
What a amazing singer .he sings with so much emotion in his voice .love this song
Yes!
Me too. Rod's music is a masterpiece ✨️ 👌🏽
Not bad is he
Omfg!!! Yes I found it. I’ve been looking for this song for 25 years. Every since I had a dream with this song in it as a child. I couldn’t find it by lyrics because I couldn’t remember the lyrics. I had a hunch the other day as to who the singer was, and that hunch finally paid off.
Hello beautiful nice to meet you here 💕💕 beautiful
My dads favorite song. I miss you so much dad.
i miss mine too
Mine died the week before Christmas last year.
He misses you too.
That rasp is perfection! Will never grow tired of this!
@Elizabeth Zago Spanjer
He was the most fearless dog, or any creature man or beast, that I've ever come across in my life, he was a cross between a full size Australian Shepherd and a miniature one, so he wasn't the biggest dog in the world at 45 lbs but he was afraid of absolutely nothing, he took off after a Bull Mastiff once that was just trotting down the beach towards us simply because we were playing with a frisbee and I think that dog just wanted to play with us since it's owner's, who'd been playing frisbee with it, had gone into the water for a swim, but Hunter just didn't like that he was coming towards me and he took off after that thing fangs out and ran it back up the beach and that dog was a good two and a half to three times his size.
@Elizabeth Zago Spanjer great song please check out Rod Stewart - Never a Dull Moment Album Review on my channel
I went to see Rod Stewart in London's earls court , he sàng Baby Jane and looked at me and smiled x💕@Elizabeth Zago Spanjer

@temporarybackup5077 I really don't care. I'm using Antidepressiva and I'm feeling fine.
I honestly enjoy the original by Shuman more, but this one is undeniably catchy
@@Jan......hit it from someone else named Jan. 🎉
I lost my grandmother in 2011 and my grandfather just turned 81. I spent a lot of my childhood and youth with them. Both loved Rod Stewart and played this song all the time when I was growing up. So this song holds very dear memories for me. I love them both dearly.
My step uncle served in WW2 i never got to meet him because he was killed may he rest in peace
My grandfather was killed in WW1, never got to meet him either. Feel for you.❤❤❤
Never paid more serious attention to Rod Stewart before until I saw this! Replayed over 10 times and now I am a true BIG fan!

I LOVE HIM EVERY SONG HE SINGS WITH EMOTIONS THAT RASPY VOICE ❤

David Lee Roth approves this message. He said hands down..Rod has the best voice of rock-n-roll in his opinion..of all time.
Carisma like no other, exeuded sex appeal, and dmnamn, my man can sing !!! Thanks Sir Rod for all the memories.
FOR ALL OUR VETERANS THAT WENT TO WAR FOR US AND FOR ALL YOU SOLDIERS, MARINES, NAVY AND AIRMEN, AND ALL OTHER SERVICE MEN, AND OUR EMERGENCY SERVICES THAT ARE STILL OUT THERE FIGHTING FOR US. MAY YOU YOU ALL BE SAFE AND COME HOME XXXXX
His to all y'all have been supporting and this country thank you very much and God be with you and doesn't come home we all love you sweet
You do realize they are fighting for oil rights right?
Patty Jones I’m on about our soldiers who went to war and never came home and for those fighting now may they all keep safe oil or not
@@pattyajones Yup. We had our Cenotaph { reduced} parade on Sunday. Teflon Tone marched along with the biggest smirk on his face. A psychopath. I dont detract from our brave servicemen, but it is about the oil fields.
Don't forget Sailors, Airmen, Marines, Space Force and Coast Guard too.
We used to play this song in the car when my son was little 30 years ago, fortunately my son loves Rod now and plays his music all the time as for myself the guy is a legend
The husky voiced Rod. One of the. very best rock & roll artists ever.

If your dad knew Rod had been accused of being a racist what would he have said?
The sorry bastards won’t take care of our own war veterans & it sickens me!! 🙏❤️
I'm so sorry for those who had a loss of a loved one, my heart goes out to you and for those who served our country l thank you. Sir Rod Stewart has a way of bringing his fans together to share our feelings with each other from his God given gift of his magnificent voice and songs. ❤❤

I agree. One of the best Rod Stewart songs for sure.
Absolutely 👍👍👍

It was my favorite song when I was in high school. Even if I listen to it again now, my heart is pounding and I feel like I am receiving strength as I feel a shiver all over my body.
I know how you feel. Going through a rough patch right now and trying to raise a toddler at the same time, but listening to this gives me hope and reminds me why I'm doing what I'm doing
Oh, the rhythm of my heart
Is beating like a drum
With the words, "I love you" rolling off my tongue
No, never will I roam
For I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky, I'll be sailing
By far my favorite Rod Stewart song!! Still makes me cry. 😭 Thank you to everyone that has served in the armed forces! 💜 RIP to those that didnt make it back and those who've passed on! 💜God Bless!

Whata great song to finish agig i must learn this the music is amazing
I love this song& the bagpipes.
i love her because she was there for me when i was at my lowest, i hate her because at some point she was the reason i felt like i wasnt good enough. i love her because i want what is best for her and i know i am not that so i am glad she left me and i hope she is happy where she is. i just hope i can move on like she did.
Timeless classic. I love his unusual raspy voice full of true Emotions... lyrics with deep meaning & MUSIC once in a lifetime experience.
Bless you....🙏😄🤗 xx
This is a real Singer 02:32.
Rod Stewart one of greatest singers of all time, right on top 10 or 5
Thanks Rod Stewart for the 5 decades of beautiful songs, and your passionated & powerful way to sing a song.
David Lee Roth says Rod takes the top spot for rock vocalists in his opinion. I couldn't pick a top..but Rod is definitely in the top 5!

Across the street, the river runs
Down in the gutter, life is slippin' away
Let me still exist in another place
Runnin' undercover of a helicopter blade
The flames are gettin' higher in effigy
Burnin' down the bridges of my memory
Love may still be alive somewhere, some way
Where they're downing only deer
A hundred steel towns away
Oh, the rhythm of my heart
Is beatin' like a drum
With the words "I love you"
Rolling off my tongue
Oh, never will I roam
Now I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailin'
Photographs, kerosine
Light my darkness, light it up, light it up
I can still feel the touch
Of your thin blue jeans
Runnin' down the alley
I've got my eyes all over you baby, oh baby
Oh, the rhythm of my heart
Is beatin' like a drum
With the words "I love you"
Rolling off my tongue
Oh, never will I roam
Now I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailin'
Oh, I've got lightning in my veins
Shiftin' like the handle of a slot machine
Love may still exist in another place
I'm just yankin' back the handle, no expression on my face
Oh, the rhythm of my heart
Is beatin' like a drum
With the words "I love you"
Rolling off my tongue
Oh, never will I roam
Now I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailin'
The rhythm of my heart
Is beatin' like a drum
With the words "I love you"
Rolling off my tongue
Never will I roam
Now I know my place is home
Where the ocean meets the sky
I'll be sailin'

How does this song not have 100 million views? It's one of the best songs ever!
Where all them 70s and 80s kids at?
Agreed, it still gives me chills
It will give it a few more years
Because baby boomers still have his cds, tapes. Albums most likely wish I had mine, my kids in their 40s they heard his songs growing 👆 real songs so powefull ...
Right here listening 😊
Right here man! Great tune!
This is my favourite rod song ever I have seen him sing it many times and it still gives me goose bumps, the guy is a legend, how many of today's musicians will be still listened to in 50years time.
This song is surely timeless.
Great to meet a fellow country man that loves Rod Stewart passionately like me. I grew up listening to his jams on my uncle's Kenwood stereo. Boy! 😁
I see my co naija brothers. Loving 80s rock
Used to sing Rod Steward songs as a young boy in primary school unaware I was being noticed, one day my grand mother said to me someone is in love, I blushed and continued singing...may she continue to rest in power
Lost my mom in December to Covid and I can still hear her sing this song when it was on in the car. Miss her.

I will never be able to get over the initial drumbeats. Such a fantastic song.
Will forever be one of my favorite singers. Just an incredible talent.
Ladies, have you ever seen anything so sexy, so beautiful as this gorgeous Rod singing his heart out so passionately !! Wow!! LOVE IT !
Hey

Consider the possibility of it triggering a previous life memories, especially since it kicked in so fast at such a young age. Unlikely, but you never know
@@stevehenry1 I don't know if I believe in the theory of past lives. I mean, I'm not arrogant enough to make any emphatic statements one way or the other. I just don't know. However, there are certainly many strange and inexplicable phenomenons that make you wonder at the possibilities.
