I ordered i210s at the end of last season, played them this year, and love them. While I’m definitely not trading up I’m glad to see they’re sticking with what works. The i210s were about a club shorter then my previous set but are way more accurate, have much better feel, and the gapping is way better at both ends. Would really like to see you do a side by side comparison just for fun.
Looks like that Ring-Necked Pheasant was enjoying watching you play. Probably needs a new set of clubs.
Good eye.
Is that a cheeky grouse running around in the background? 😂
I play the i210s and am not intending to change any time soon. Lofts of the i230s standard look to be identical to the i210s, already a good start. Liking the look of the i230s, not really better than i210s but maybe a bit more modern looking.
Andy: you just have to a comparison test between the i210s and i230s.
No need. Pretty sure they will be identical.
If you're looking for a new set of irons then i230 should be something you test - but if you already have i210 then no need to switch?
I'm looking at new irons in the next couple of weeks. Currently the rogue st Pro are favourite. Tried the i425s and they were a little less forgiving that the callaway. Might give these a try before I commit but they need to be a bit more forgiving than the i425 to be considered.
The difference loft options as well are nice for gapping if your like me and have less of a gap between your long iron than short irons, standard in the bottom of the bag and power at the top.
Ping can do no wrong in my book. They are the standard that others copy and follow. Too bad I can't afford a set atm ! I'll be sticking with my older Titleist AP2's for a while longer yet.
Speaking of affordability, have you seen the price of the new Callaway Big Bertha irons ? ! ? ! They must be absolutely astonishing performance wise and can't wait until you try them.
Definitely think for the lower handicapped player as quite a small head
Would be retro for me as my current i500s are
I play i210 irons and ChipR, also the Glide wedges I have seem to have that look that blends with the look of the irons too.
How do you find the chipR?
Great video! Can't wait to get to start fitting these irons. I just hope the supply line is available.
Just tried the g425 irons and loved them. Going to give these i230s a try next
Nice birdie coming in at 1:32.
Ping fitting for me in 2 wks. Will ck out these i230’s and the 430’s. Plus 430 driver. See how it goes
My first ever clubs were the Ping G10s - Great manufacturer with a real history
Are you hitting Regular or Stiff?
Thank you for all you do!
Iv got a set of ping EYE 2’s
had them for like forever.
Never had any other brand than PING products. I still even use my old ping ‘Billy baroo’ Anser 85038 and that is nearly as old as me! Lol 😂
What’s the forgiveness on these? One got some old Nike VR forged combo irons but I want something more forgiving on off centre hits, coming up short too often lately
They’re really forgiving, I tried them a few days ago, I average 175 to 185yds with my 7i, I toed a few shots and still carried to 160yds
I've been playing i200s for the past 4.5 years. I love them but I think now is the time to upgrade. Would I notice a huge change between the i200s and the i230s?
Only way to find out is to try them
Just got the i230s. Incredible
You hit mainly good shots with the Ping i230 irons. The weaker lofts would take some getting used to for distance control. 33 degrees on the 7 iron seems reasonable.
33* has been about the normal loft of a 7 iron since around 1994 when Callaway came out with the Big Bertha irons and other companies followed suit, My 2011 Adams V3 Idea Tech which is the set I play now has the same lofts.
I think Ping keeps this STANDARD loft, along with the other 2 loft options help in finding the distance control players want.
I like the standard lofts as it keeps me playing the same distances for the past 30+ years, ( 7 iron is 150 yards & I have 10 yards difference upper and lower between clubs ) so I know my distances and do not have to learn ALL new yardages of irons with these NEW POWER bats that companies are making today. It's the one reason why I have not bought a new set of clubs in 11 years.
@@darrell3118 @Darrell I tried Taylormade SIM MAX 28.5 degree 7 iron last year. I was not at all impressed, so traded quickly for some Srixon Z585's with a 31 degree 7 iron. Even this is a strong loft. I have always played approximately 34 degree 7 iron sets. I have Wilson Staff CBs as a 2nd set for when I want to play standard lofts at 34 degree 7 iron. Think I will avoid POWERBATS.
@@tomb9658 I hear you, these new POWER BATS scare the hell out of me, I hit my friends Wilson D300 irons and hell they go far and I am a HIGH ball hitter anyway and I punched holes in clouds with them and the ball had no spin, it just hit and kind of rolled around till it decided to STOP!
I want my ball to go a certain distance with the spin I want and have the ball STOP as fast as it hits, if it comes up SHORT, I miss hit it or miss clubbed.
I'm in the market for new irons, based on your no nonsense review I am seriously considering the i230. Keep up the great work
What is your driver club head speed? Or how far do you hit your seven iron at what degree?
I use the current i210s with AWT 2 shafts and really like the feel and accuracy. I play off 14 but have a fairly average swing speed so I’ve started using a Ping G425 5 hybrid instead of the 5 iron. Hybrid lofts match very well to i210s and many of the LPGA Pros using this combination. Wonder if Ping will follow the 430 theme with G430 driver, fairways, hybrids, and irons next year?
Ping have already released the G430 line up in Asia Pacific region. America / Euro will be released in Jan next year. Some pros have already put the G430 driver in their bag.
I’m using the i 525 model.Would love to see a comparison with these tho.
The i230 is not a hollow body. Liked the review though. You seemed to hit them really well!
Would you be able to so a comparison with the i525 released earlier in the year please
As always, stellar review, Andy.
Is this a video on your love of the 210s or a review of the 230s?
They look really nice. Ping factory is right by my house.
Rattle it 😂😂
Oh my god!!! The i230 isn’t a hollow bodied iron, it’s the same cavity back a the i210 but they’ve put a cover over the back.
Mr. Pheasant checking out your game.
Played great with the i210s then went to G425s. Big mistake. Going to i230s soon
Thanks. A review vs the i210s is needed!
I would have 3 to the U wedge in the retro lofts reàl golf clubs
Still playing off 3, with my Ping Eye 2's.
Good looking iron. How about a head to head with i59 and i525?
Love my i230 ❤
Sure sound good .....................how about Gen5 P vs I230
How do these compare to the PXG Gen5 T Series?
Ping chipr. Can anyone chime in here on experiences?
I’ve filmed a few reviews on my channel and if you read the comments you can gauge feedback
As a person who has never played a Ping of any kind because I find them ugly and they usually sound terrible - I can finally say that I would play these - never thought the day would arrive.
Come to the dark side like the rest of us. 😂😂😂
Don’t know what you’re missing mate 😊
