    My enlistment date was July 5th, 1995. ⚓️. I stood watch. My job back then was mechanical repairman/Engineer. My discharge was July 31st, 1996.
    In my present and as a civilian, I am in food service and I am certified, servsafe ,and I’ve been thinking about new career in food service and new location. I’ve always kept my military demeanor about myself. I try to encourage and stay positive. Self respect, self love and self discipline.

    One of the things ill never forget- One of the guys in my div was humming a song while we were in line for chow and an RDC caught him and made hime sing the song. We were all trying so hard not to laugh because he couldn't sing if his life depended on it

    Thank you to the RDC’s , It’s nice to meet you. I would also like to add that I attended church on Sunday while in company 351 by myself in 1995. I was 24 years old then. I graduated basic training with my 2nd company 373. My family attended. ❤🥰
    I was Fireman Recruit Long then in Basic training. My ship was the USS Benfold DDG 65 in 1996.
    To the new sailors be safe on your journeys, have fun. Keep learning. God is with you! My old spirit 🫶🏾😇is there and I would love to visit again some day. Good vibes.
    Have a great day/night.

    I remember shaving my head a couple days before boot camp and they still sent me into the barber chair and they ran the clippers through my head, so yeah, probably don't bother shaving your head before going you'll just be wasting money and also in the galley in the first couple weeks, you were reading your general orders in line so if you didn't have them memorized before boot camp you will after those first two weeks, you're reading them nonstop

I do have a picture of myself in uniform where I don’t smile, that picture is in black and white. My brother companies were 352 and 374. I’m staying off Facebook too for awhile. I went through basic training in 1982. I retired in 2005 as a Master Chief. Basic training isn't that hard if you keep a positive attitude, mind your own business when required, don't attract attention, and help out your fellow recruits when necessary. Divisions are a team. If you or someone else fails the whole division fails. Yes, you are graded as an individual but teamwork is paramount in basic training. Your training does not end once Bootcamp is finished. Many will go onto other schools specific to their rate or job in the Navy. Much has changed in 40+ years since I went to Great Lakes, but much hasn't. The bottom line is getting Sailors to the Fleet that are basically trained and squared away. The Fleet is everything. Make the most of it and you will find it rewarding.

    Video recommendation I had to go through the whole process of picking a new job and I had to retake the asvab because I didn’t qualify for it. A lot of websites give false or outdated scores like IS I scored a 70 with above average line scores and barely got it. I think a video explaining updated scores etc

    I can do no more than maybe 25-30 pushups. Will that be enough to pass the baseline PFA? Or will it be enough to get recycled to another division? I'm hoping to ship out by the end of the month.

  • @TheWhoFan4
    @TheWhoFan4 10 месяцев назад +1

    When I went through in October they used the moment of truth as an amnesty for anyone that pissed hot for THC. Recruits would only get processed out for THC if they didn’t admit to it during the moment of truth. Recruits with certain rates would still get re-rated even if they admitted to it though, someone in my division got de-nuked and had to re-rate after admitting to smoking marijuana and testing positive for THC.
    I’m not sure if that amnesty is still in place so it’s probably not a good idea to show up to bootcamp with THC in your system.

    just based on the comment at 5:15 they shouldn't still be wearing masks and I say that because I was in A school in great lakes and I know we followed the same regulations on masks as RTC. When I left great lakes in fall of 2022 (graduated boot camp september of '21) we weren't wearing masks or if we were it was for like 2-3 weeks and we took em right back off so I highly doubt they are currently wearing masks unless they still quarantine at the beginning of boot camp.

  • @whenhen
    @whenhen 10 месяцев назад +1

    I'm kind of surprised that the military, given how undermanned it is, hasn't switched to a saliva based test. That seems to be the trend amongst employers who still have to drug test for marijuana by law, but don't want to loose people who smoked weed over a month ago. Plus the results come back MUCH faster. It's a matter of minutes versus days.

    • @askardc
      @askardc  10 месяцев назад

      If you are talking about drug tests, then I do not have enough knowledge about the process nor the reasoning as to why the Navy sticks to urinalysis. But it has been that way since I have been in.

    • @whenhen
      @whenhen 10 месяцев назад

      @@askardc I get it. I also work for a telecom company and we're required to drug test in Colorado and other states where weed is legal on a state basis. The only way my company can meet numbers is by doing saliva tests, which meet federal requirements, because otherwise we'd have too many people fail because they smoked three weeks ago.
      Results also come by much faster (10 mins or less) so it's nice to know that we don't have to waste our time on applicants who can't pass.

      Rules change often. Personally could not state why that was during that time. But there may have been a standard uniform change during that time. It depends on the triad in charge of the time. For example, NSU's were standard for us until the pandemic hit. They then said NWU's no matter what.
