Both the 2019 VW Arteon and the 2019 Audi A7 are 4-door Sportback cars from Volkswagen. So you may be wondering what are the key differences between these two cars? Pricing for the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon ranges from $35,845 to $46,710 while the 2019 Audi A7 is priced at $68,000 but can be optioned out increasing the price to $80k.
Under the hood the Volkswagen Arteon is powered by a 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder that makes 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. That is backed up by an 8-speed automatic transmission. This AWD model nets 20 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the highway. The Audi A7 is powered by a turbocharged V-6 engine that makes 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is a 7-speed automatic that when paired to the Quattro AWD system nets 22 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.
Out back; the Arteon features a liftback with nice tight lines that roll into LED taillights. Underneath is a nice set of chrome exhaust tips. The rear of the Audi A7 has a power rear spoiler that deploys automatically at speed. Beneath that there is an LED tail light strip which is gorgeous to look at when the sun goes down. The least interesting part of the rear is the set of fake exhaust finishers under the rear bumper. Looks at these 2 cars in profile you can see the family resemblance. From the side the 20-inch Audi wheels do a better job at filling the wheel gaps as compared to the Arteon.

Honestly the Arteon seems like a really good deal in comparison.
I have the 2021 Arteon SEL Premium R line with all the bells and whistles. Comparsion should have been on that model. It's a very enjoyable ride. Unless you've driven the Arteon you have no idea by site the capabilities of this car. At a $40000 difference I put my money on the Arteon and a down-payment on a house. Can you say win-win. Enough said. Thank you Volkswagen. I absolutely love my Arteon.
I have a 2016 volkswagen cc. When I saw this arteon, I know this will be my next car I will be going after. But for now I will be enjoying my cc which I only had for a couple months now. But the arteon is by far the better choice and deal.
I was considering a CC a few years back and didn't know anything about Arteon. It feels like an improved CC and I gotta admit that at half the price of the A7 while still being relatively comparable makes the Arteon a serious contender.

That was a good down-to-earth comparison, but you were not comparing the correct vehicles/versions. I mean, you started with cars in 2 different classes, then you chose an Arteon without things that would have indeed made it more comparible (and a bit more expensive). OK, I have not seen the U.S. version (I drive a German version in Germany). But I have 19-inch wheels that outshine those Audi rims and make the car look much better, Then then the instrument display - mine is like the Audis and is ultimately configurable; so why did you choose a lower-level comparison there? Your Audi is pretty well full up, the VW not. Next time, try to at least get the same levels and then tell us (again) about how the Audi is the better car if you ignore price, because of course it still will be.... but the end result will be more fairly closer than it is here.
This comparison is good; however, I feel you should have used the upscale model of the Arteon

APR Stage 1 (low torque) gives Arteon the power it should have come with. Very driveable 359 hp and 349 tq. All for $800 - quite possible the best deal in this universe.
And agree with the other comments. This car compares more with the A5. What customer is comparing this to the A7?? I'm shopping this with the Stinger and A5/S5.

Rose Rey Vw Arteon is more expensive than the Audi A7 in real life! Vw did not present the prices with VAT! Vw presented prices without VAT! The Audi A7 in this video is a very equipped one, and Arteon is not equipped, plus the price from Arteon mentioned by this individual is WITHOUT VAT !
They need to kick the HP of the top trim Arteon to 300-320. The new golf R is rumored to have 330 or so hp. It’ll be slower than the performance vehicle, but also offers decent power still.
People need to stop calling the bottom back of the A7 exhaust tips. They aren't trying to be tips they're for styling points, the actual tips are underneath

Juan Camilo Sarmiento Franco I have an Arteon here in Europe. The reliability of Volkswagen is very good, I would say that it’s similar to Audi. In my opinion, VW Arteon is a really good alternative to Audi A7 with a much better quality/price and similar specs overall.

Arteon hell yes......bit more aggressive front end and just as luxurious I'd say. Give or take a bit on the engine but remember......torque gets you going ,horsepower keeps you moving. For double the price.....sorry audi. 10 or 15 gran difference most likely but no way....not doubling it. 100 k is almost closing in on a Bentley or rolls at near 200 but audi are pretty damn fast... ..they can probably beat hellcat dodge although dodge is not really built for luxury.
For that price of a 100k then one goes for the AUDI RS7 again I completely agree with you.

Because of two main reasons
1. A5 is much smaller than Arteon.
2. A5 is not a hatchback(fastback) unlike A7 & Arteon

I agree price wise an Audi A5 is the closest to Arteon but it's not the same car (4 door vs 5 door). It depends on what one want to compare (Audi is owned by VW) under price point similar vehicles, or similar vechiles regardless of price. Here they are comparing on the later

I actually prefer the VW’s interior. If you like all stupid LCDs that can’t be operated while in motion, and are all about gimmicks, go for Audi’s cheap 2 LCD implementation. VW allows muscle memory to quickly change climate and other features. This reviewer is easily influenced by gimmicks.

Because to be fair the arteon is actually closer in size to the A7 rather than the A5. The price premium for a premium experience is therefore an interesting proposition.

Arteon will sell like flip phones in a smart phone world. So many better options with Kia, Toyota, Honda etc.
I think the issue that makes it not be known is the performance, imagine if they put rs level performance on the arteon, many people would be excited to see Volkswagens competition to the rs titles
Both vehicles are overpriced. I'd go with a Mazda 6 Signature turbo for less money than VW, higher resale, and better overall reliability.
Still a VW, Meaning it’s stylish on the outside but cheap nasty plastic on the inside and Haldex not as good as Quattro. The worst part is a fully spec VW costs more than a gently used Audi. How the Germans have been able to con Americans into overpaying for cheaply made crap is beyond me, and we all know that they have no problem conning Did someone say MPG cough cough ahem....this is totally a rich high school or sorority chick car, not something a savvy consumer would buy and NOT thrilling performance wise so a car enthusiast should not want it either and the interior is CHEAP and nasty so where has the money gone??? VW ripping consumers off with trendy branding and marketing.

You're wrong! Go to the VW and then the Audi, Bmw and Mercedes-Benz and you will see that the VW interior is much better and more quality! Vw has not introduced plastic since 1996 ! Vw makes the best and quality German interior! Prices from Vw do not include VAT, they are prices without VAT ! When you see a test with a Vw, Audi or BMW and VW is cheaper then it is clear that Vw is not equipped and that Audi and BMW are very equipped and it seems normal to me that an equipped car is more expensive than a car. which is not equipped ! More expensive cars than VW as a starting price is just Mercedes-Benz !
A8 and EU spec Passat owner here (EU Passat has the same interior as the Arteon) I can tell you that the interior of the Arteon does not feel cheap, for the class of car it actually feels very premium; really not far off an Audi in places. The VW is less fun to drive but its just as comfortable and not much noisier inside than my Audi which surprised me.
