The Behringer Echo Machine EM600: a fantastic, plastic classic!

- A close look at the various different modes available in this vastly underappreciated pedal.
Being an older, Behringer pedal means that it is of course housed in a plastic enclosure, making it a lot more vulnerable to potential problems. However, don't write it off just yet!
The EM600 is an extremely capable, great-sounding delay, with a wide range of high-quality voicings, making this a really versatile little addition to any board.
Hope you enjoy the demo! (Sorry it's so long)

Great demo! This was my first delay pedal I got nearly a decade ago. I actually busted it out yesterday and forgot how great it is. The reverse imode is amazing.
I particularly like your choice of background (and the swell mode)!!
My favourite pedal... great video
Thanks so much!
Awesome video, the captions were funny and informative. What an amazing pedal
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! And yeah it's definitely amazing. 👍
The plastic case is as tough as any modern car bumper. I'd be more concerned about the plastic shafted pots or budget footswitch but with that said I I've owned three Behringer pedals for a few years now with no problem at all and they were all second hand too! For practice and home use I think they'll be fine. If I were a beginner starting out on a tight budget I wouldn't hesitate to add these to my collection. Many of the behringer range are good clones of timeless classics.
❤
what a psychedelic trip...this gadget turns on a legend from the vaults of Behringer (legacy) since the company doesn´t make more units, so it´s difficult to get one, just only second hand and double price if you find some one who sell it...
If you can find one, the Line 6 Echo Park this pedal is based on is a far better option. They're usually easier to find than the Behringer clones, too.
very hard to find, they go for big money these days
There's a few on ebay.uk atm. One ends tomorrow and is on about 50 quid. The other is a buy it now listing for £95.
Idk where you're from, but they're pretty common and cheap in the UK, at least. 🤷♂️
Brilliant
HAHA. I have this pedal! It's so fun. Honestly, it sits in my basement, and I rarely pull it out. Maybe after a Doob🤣
Wow they should make more of those instead of just the vintage analog delay version.
Are you playing the first notes from 'persiana americana' by soda stereo at the beginning of the video?
Not intentionally. 😄
I have this but haven't really got on with it, I find it a pain to dial in a decent sound. Thinking of swapping out this for a TC Flashbacks 2 delay.
Which one do you advise me to buy the echo machine or echo brain from tc electronic?
I definitely recommend the Echo Machine if you can find one! It's just so incredibly versatile and sounds amazing.
Thank you. What settings would you use for APACHE please.
Try setting it on Multi 1. Set the mix to taste Repeats around 10%. Time around 60%. Mod to taste
And set the mode on Tape
Wonder why that is discontinued with no successor.
I had an echo machine. Nice pedal, but the only problem in my signal chain was the volume drop, also the jacks issues.
I haven't noticed a volume drop with mine. But yeah, the jacks feel extremely delicate.
the jacks are board-mount so they're prone to snapping off if one isn't careful when plugging the cables. As long as you do it slowly and careful, they can last.
how do you find the build quality? is the plastic casing strong enough?
It feels pretty cheap being plastic, not gonna lie. It seems like you'll break it easily, but as long as you're careful with them, they'll last ages. 👍
I have one but I use it for synthesizers. It's plastic but it's well-made. The only thing that may break due to continuous use is the footswitch, but even then you can easily replace it if you know how to solder. It's a great unit and my all-time favorite cheap pedal
Mine hums like anything. Fine with battery but it doesn't like a PSU
I've never noticed any issues with mine?
@@PedalExperiments I've ordered an official Beringer PSU 🤞🤞
