It's like if I copied all of the game files for a GTA game, put it on a new CD and changed the cover art and title.
It's a different story if the pedal isn't available anymore and the company is not around or doesn't make it.

@@SteamvilleQuintet OK it have USB and FP..i have far more simpler only working with USB but that is what i need UMC404HD under 100$. Behringer IMHO got that bad reputation due to plastic enclosures for pedals also when people buy cheep and it is broken they are often angry but they overpay things they tend to find excuses ..for example there are tons of videos for let say guitars up to 500$ and they do bla bla how fret ends are sharp etc but when they do video for some Suhr or PRS that cost 3-4000$ and have sharp fret ends then they say ''it is normal thing and guitar have to be taken to pro for set up'' ☺..Fact is that all parts are made in Asia for pedals, all machines like CNC again Asian, pickups parts everything comes from there so it is a bit crazy to think they are not capable to make 1st class finished product..I don't have the problem to say that open no matter that i'm European, but some of my friends who try to make pedals, amps etc don't like that since the only thing they are left with to justify the high prices are lies more less. To make 1st class pedal in metal box if you make let say 100 of them- parts will cost you for each less then 5$, for pickups is the same situation only builder have less job to do. Then why some products cost 200$ when fer price should be under 50$? Simple human greed, take a look 99,99% of those small builders have no school usually they are musicians who couldn't do anything with musical career but they know very well that guitarists often tend to buy overpriced things due to marketing hype. If you buy some KIT pedal and solder it alone it will be equal with quality as any boutique out there 100%. cheers.

Other companies wanted to build an X pedal too. So they go buy a palette of chips. Well, the chips have instructions to them. So company B follows the instructions, as did Behringer, and builds their pedal. Well, they wind up very similar. He points out its not just Behringer or company b. I immediately liked Josh, the whole JHS show, his humor and playing. When i started to play and buy gear again i decided that i wouldn't care much about the brand. Sure it's nice to own good brands too but in the end it's all about the sound and the player. Now i see that Josh is the one who made me realize that. Behringer pedals are great for the bedroom/studio guitarist. I wouldn't recommend someone who gigs often to use Behringer, unless of course, they want to grab a spare to have just in case, which can be practical at that price point. I have to say, out of all of the HM2 clones out there, I think the HM300 is the best one for sound. It's just a shame that if I were to use it to gig, I would probably set it up on my amp to keep it from getting stepped on by stage divers, haha.

I agree. I had some experience with Behringer MIDI controllers and audio interfaces, both mine and borrowed from other people. I was continually impressed by their capabilities in shaping and crafting the sound I wanted. My only regret was using the inbuilt distorted channel on my amp rather than a dedicated drive/OD/fuzz/distortion pedal.
I used the Vintage Delay, Chromatic Tuner, and Vintage phaser alongside a Danelectro Hash Browns, Cry Baby, and the A/B switch for my amp channels.

I bought a super fuzz probably about six months before you made this episode. I still have it and it’s a mainstay on my board. I use it as a fuzz obviously, but I’ve also found another use for it. I put it in the boost mode. Then run the gain low at maybe 9 o’clock and the volume high like you would a TS. Sounds crazy I know, but I do this to boost my cleans believe it or not. I know that probably seems strange, but honestly it fattens up my clean sound perfectly. I run my amp clean and play a lot of ethereal ambient stuff. So it works awesome for that, and doubles as an octave fuzz when I want to use it for that. Anyhow, I absolutely love that pedal!

Not to say that there are no differences in various gear but to your point I have watched many videos where very knowledgeable people have done blind side by side testing and could either barely distinguish or fail to distinguish one piece of sought after high end gear and another "copy" or cheaper version. They can justify their preferences any way they wish but I would respect it all a lot more if they would just admit they just "like" or otherwise for nostalgic or romantic reasons prefer one thing over another, rather than insisting it somehow IS BETTER in some way. Nothing wrong with just wanting the original or whatever for the history of it or for sentimental reasons. Much like preferring the way a guitar feels even if it doesn't sound as good. If for any reason you play it better or just enjoy it more then use it. I know if I were a touring musician I would prefer the piece of mind of a cheaper part than the worry of losing or something being stolen or damaged that was a rare gem. Precious things are for museums, tools get used, played, and heard.
We so often forget that most of these famous vintage items were not so vintage when those recordings and shows happened. They were either relatively recent or slightly old items that were used hard because the musician playing it didn't feel it was precious. It was just another thing and would likely get replaced as soon as they could afford another one. The magical vintage thing of today was just the latest random item at the time. no doubt they wished they had something different and were after a different sound than they had. Hendrix was known to claim he always wanted a cleaner tone than he had. He didn't really know why he sounded how he did. Then everybody else proceeded to try to get his sound that he didn't even want, lol.

@cableaddict Well, as mentioned there's no copyright on circuits. If you do anything actually innovative in your gear you can patent it. If not, then that modern device really just copied something else.
But yes, Behringer does the budget version. It's cheap, and not made to last. It's nothing I'd buy if I was a pro. But for hobbyists? It's fine. It's nothing stranger than pretty much any fashion you buy: It was usually designed by some famous designer who charges $1000 per item, and anything actual normal humans buy are next season knock-offs.

yochillman I was only commenting on the use of evil. I clicked on this link to hear about budget guitar pedals. If I was interested in learning about intellectual property rights then I wouldn’t ask some one who randomly capitalises or puts a period between two periods, but thanks for the penny lecture.
