    On grass leaf blades , loss of water int he form of water droplets in early morning through permanently open pores called hydathodes is called guttation.the root pressure is not exerted to that extent and there are gaps in the water coln due to the tension experienced. Therefore there is a need of a continuous column of water.

    If water moves along potential gradient then why it is said actively?

    • @Rachitalather123

      It is opposite the gradient

    • @birjeshkumarvikel2978

      No in roots it is passively transport
      Butt ions are actively transport

    • @ritwikbasak4960
      @ritwikbasak4960 4 года назад +1

      The ions are actually actively transported to the bottom of the xylem and thus lowers the water potential there. Then as the water potential in the soil is higher , the water moves down the water potential to the xylem and this water movement is actually passive.

    • @VenkatBotany

    2:49) you are saying that ions are transported actively as well as along the potential gradient I.e from high concentration to low concentration????
    Please answer

    • @foodie1781
      @foodie1781 5 лет назад +19

      Bro let me try to answer ur question....... Very first the plant spend energy I.e.ATP for the transfer of ions or minerals from soil to root.so as we say it active transport cause energy is spended .. So now the concentration of solute or minerals is high in roots and low in soil.... Also concentration of solvent I. e water is low in roots..... So the water will move from high to low concentration..... From soil to roots. So finally by this procedure water is transported from soil to roots..... I hope it would be helpful to u😊😊😊
