As a math enthusiast and horror lover, this video is a fascinating bridge between my two passions! It's amazing how math and physics can be applied to understanding bloodstain patterns in crime scenes. It's like solving a puzzle using trigonometry and geometry to unlock the secrets behind a gruesome story. This just goes to show that math is not only useful in everyday life, but can also be thrilling and intellectually stimulating. Who knew that studying math could be so spine-chillingly exciting!
It's the Pythagorean theorum. The man's name was Pythagorus, hence, Pythagorean. Also, strictly speaking, he didn't use the Pythagorean theorem. That's a^2 + b^2 = c^2. He did used arcsin and tangent functions though, and it's all trigonometry after all.
My science teacher once did super super cool like that. She had one of our colleagues come in to ask her something while we were in lab (and weren't paying attention). Afterwards, she asked us all to describe everything we remembered. She used that to both teach us about databases and how to use excel (since we were trying to figure out exactly what happened) and about the unreliability of witness-accounts. It was an awesome way to teach us about what could have been dry subjects!
Wow! What an impeccably technical and perfectly didactic explanation at the same time! Especially for those who are majoring in forensic science. 🙋🏻♀️✅ Thank you, Mr. Steiner, for such great instructions and invaluable knowledge. 👩🏻🔬
It doesn't really matter. This information has been accessed by multiple serial killers already. They can't do much. People who kill will kill but some form of evidence will always be left behind. Like they say -- There is no such thing as a perfect crime. Just that, people are slow to find the evidence sometimes.
Killer: aight Ima just drag the body here, bring it back that way, turn it around, drag it back, blood stains everywhere Crime scene analyst observing crime scene: ‘ tf is this? ‘
I love how he says "correlates" instead if "we know this causes it" like tv would, it really shows he's knowing what he's talking about because he's making sure to say correlate. As we all know correlation doesn't equal causation, it's very neat to see a professional be cautious with their wording to accurately show that they don't know 100% what's going on.
Lol me. I majored in forensic science and I took a blood spatter pattern analysis class. At the end of the semester we made a castoff room out of pvc pipe and plastic sheeting where we dipped different "weapons" in cows blood and flung it around to see how the droplets compared.

This guy gets to say he used Pythagorean’s Theorem after high school
Geneviève Leclair 😂
You use it as an electrician.
Geneviève Leclair i learnt that in 4th grade, it really stressed me out but it’s easy

Math class would have been way more interesting if these were the word problems we had instead. I might have actually tried lol
Also not very useful though.. doing math problems on real world problems you may encounter one day would be more beneficial
That's were physics intervene
Sure....
@Death Omen in what world is trigonometry physics
Wow! What an impeccably technical and perfectly didactic explanation at the same time! Especially for those who are majoring in forensic science. 🙋🏻♀️✅

Serial Killers: Thanks for the insight.
Have u not heard of dexter series?
What can serial killers use this for tho ?
Serial killers would know what the blood looks like
It doesn't really matter. This information has been accessed by multiple serial killers already. They can't do much. People who kill will kill but some form of evidence will always be left behind. Like they say -- There is no such thing as a perfect crime. Just that, people are slow to find the evidence sometimes.
pretty sure if you’re a serial killer you’d already know a lot of their methods

I love how he says "correlates" instead if "we know this causes it" like tv would, it really shows he's knowing what he's talking about because he's making sure to say correlate. As we all know correlation doesn't equal causation, it's very neat to see a professional be cautious with their wording to accurately show that they don't know 100% what's going on.
Stressed Peach there are way too many statistics out there that the news mixes up correlation and causation with
