Great Video David!! Thanks for sharing!!
My moms CA 19-9 was 70 two years ago. We just got her tested and now the CA 19-9 is normal at 19. I discovered that the Statin drug was destroying her entire system to where she almost died an untimely death. I stopped the statin use 2 years ago and started to revers all her disease with supplementation like a probiotic and a digestive enzyme. The disease that she had was jaundice, IBS, gallstones, Bile Duct inflammation that was thought to be cancer. Doctors put a stent in her bile duct but that was just a temporary fix. Lucky I took action even thought her doctor begged me not to stop the drug. How miss informed she and most doctors are about the use of Statin Drugs.
What medicine was she taking? Glad you took matters in your hand
What are statin medications
2023 and this was so helpful. Thank you for this.
Very Useful ! Thank you !
Sir May I ask you; my father has CA 19-9 256. He has drenching night sweats and severe itching skin All over his body. And maybe at certain areas feels really bad itching like lower back area and abdomen both sides.
Guess after laboratory tests and mrcp and endoscopy the pancreas is clear the bile duct is fine as well. What could cause the elevated ca19-9 and the symptoms??? Any suggestions!.....
(None of steroids or anti allergy topical creams made the itchiness feel better. Useless.)
Just diagnosed with PC last week for 1st time. They put in a stent and markers looked better. But not CA 19-9. Stunned to see that before the stent/biopsy it was 4200. Then a follow up test a few days later came in at 6200. Other than that they tell me it was caught early with a tumor of 2 cm. Should I be panicking and think that surgery is out of the picture?
Thank you. Very helpful. Hope you'll do more and more of these informational videos. Questions: Are their other markers besides CA19-9 that are looked at for the adinocarcinoma patients? -- anything that suggests progress? Any diet or supplements that have been noticed that people are taking concurrently with chemo or radiation that suggest they are turning around the condition?
Thanks Jennifer. CEA is another blood test result that a few doctors will monitor, but I think it is followed much less than CA19-9 (info: www.pancan.org/facing-pancreatic-cancer/diagnosis/carcinoembryonic-antigen/).
I am a big proponent of oncology dieticians. These are dieticians that know about missing or impaired organs and nutrition during treatments like chemotherapy. If your hospital has a department like this, make them your best friends.
I'll also note that patients of pancreatic cancer, as well as many GI tract cancers, often have trouble maintaining weight. I don't know of any pancreatic cancer patients that have died because they were too heavy. Keep this in mind in your approach to diets.
Pancanology Hi, thank you so much for your video. I did my full nlood test and 5 cancer markers recently including the CA19.9. Everything was good except choleolevel was slightly high, 6.5, and the CA19.9 was elevated to 48.9. I did a second CA19.9 after a week at a different lab and it was 44. Went on to do a scan and also a proper ultrasound scan and the radiologist and everything (kidney, liver, pancreas) was good except there is a 3mm polyp in my gallbladder. I do not have any symptoms of pancreatic cancer ( as I've researched and read a bit too many articles,, forum, and health pages) except I was feeling lethargic for the past month before I had the test. I thought that it would be just a phase in my life since I'm perimemapausal stage ( I'm 49). I've also dome the hormone tests which did indicate I'm going thru menopause, however my estrogen levels is still high.
I find myself a bit lost as to what to do next. Should I do the CT scan or Mri or even Pet scan? I have made an appointment to see am oncologist in two weeks time but meantime I would want to be better informed. Appreciate if you could help me out here. Thank you very much:)

@@zarinaabdulrahim4720 Can you please share your update CA19-9 and your health situation?
Thanks for making this video. CA 19-9 level was 49.3, man I am terrified! My doctor left a message saying "we need to discuss high CA 19-9 levels" I've been messaging him all morning but, he's not responding, this shit is stressful man
@Jim Piechowski Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I was terrified man
@Jim Piechowski yes, I am having a ultrasound and scan done this month my friend, thank you for the reassurance. Doctors are definitely not always accurate
@Jim Piechowski Appreciate it brother, I actually had no symptoms concerning my pancreas, my doctor wanted to perform this test due to my history of drinking in the past. Where my liver is located is actually where I have minor irritation, but my livers actually fine. I do have concerning fatigue, some crippling anxiety, and some minor depression, I am scared even though my doctor and people like you tell me it's going to be okay, but I'm also optimistic. I will definitely keep you posted
@@kongsied4279 can you provide an update please
@@lorrainecurry3295 Sorry my pancreas is fine, my oncologist was upset with my PA for performing the test, saying that while my numbers were slightly above normal, there was no need to perform a blood test
At my PDAC diagnosis my 19-9 was 11. I had a whipple, and the tumor was fully resected. After 6 months of Gemcitiabine my 19-9 dropped to 3. Over the last 2.5 years it’s fluctuated between 3 and 10. It would appear that for me 19-9 is not very useful, unless there is a change by a significant factor. I also get the impression that nobody has a 19-9 of 0, so there must be some non-cancerous reasons for 19-9.
I have read many papers that talk about the people that don't generate CA19-9. However, they also never say that the readings are exactly 0. So it's hard to say whether you belong in that group.
Pancanology It was disconcerting that the oncologist couldn’t tell me why the 19-9 fluctuates. If it is only produced by tumors/cancer cells you would think it would be 0 in a healthy person. The first law of cancer is there are no absolutes.
As I understand this, if you were to measure CA19-9 in a person's GI tract, the numbers would be quite high. So perhaps a good way to think of CA19-9 is that it should be confined to the ducts and intestines and leave the body that way.
If we see CA19-9 in the bloodstream, that might imply that CA19-9 is escaping from the ducts and into the body where it should not be. Because pancreatic adenocarcinoma is a disease of the pancreatic ducts, those ducts become leaky causing pancreatitis and letting CA19-9 escape into the bloodstream.
This is the model of how I am thinking about CA19-9 nowadays.
It is also advise after this test to undergo CT scan on abdomen area?
CA 19-9 over 100,000
No jaundice. Is this a typical level for pancreatic cancer? Or what else could it be? It seems much higher than the usual definition of extremely elevated.
Appreciate your informative video. Thank you!
I'm no doctor, but studies seem to show the higher the CA19-9 the more likely it is cancer. In any case, numbers like that should make any doctor sit up and take notice.
With a CA 19.9 at 773 but otherwise my other organ functions result are fine, decided to just live life as normal.
Just went to see a specialist who want to probe me further with colonscopy and ct scan. But after further consultation if it is really necessary, decide another blood test would suffice for now.
now all okay ?
2nd result goes up to 1223 but since physically normal, I decided to just live a normal life.
Still no symptom of liver or pancreas cancer. Just had gone through Covid-19 with the omnicron variant and recovered.
I feel while an elevated CA19.9 trigger further medical investigation, if you knows you are fit and have none of the symptom, just stop worrying and go live a healthy snd happy lifes.

Try a digestive enzyme and probiotics. This happened to my mother and it was the Statin drug that was destroying her digestive system and 600 plus more functions. Thanks to her GP.

Sir my CA19.9 is 930 how i can control it , i had periampullary carcinoma surgery now liver is effected by it, i hav scare in live
CA19-9 usually drops when the tumor shrinks and the damage it causes heals up. The best way to make it go down is with an effective treatment. Genetic/Molecular testing is the best way we have right now to find an effective treatment.
Hi Pancanology - Here is my mom’s case, 65yo female. We are confused by her rising Ca19-9 levels. Can you provide any thoughts?
November 2019: Ca19-9: 9000. PanCancer diagnosis, 2 cm tumor in pancreas, no Mets
March 2020: ca19-9: 500. Post Fulfirinox chemo treatments
April 2020: ca19-9: 200. Post distal pancreatectomy surgery
Post April 2020: ca19-9 levels have continued to rise back to 8000, checked every month or so. All scans are clear as of December 2020. (CT, laparoscopy, blind biopsy, etc)
Any thoughts on what could be causing her ca19-9 levels to rise so high without visible cancer? Have you heard of any other cases like this? Her drs seem stumped as well that they are not finding anything in her scans.
Thanks in advance!
With this late reply, you probably already have your answer. A rising CA19-9 is usually not good news, it could, but not always mean cancer. Ulcers or pancreatitis after surgery are fairly common, too.
My father had an elevated CA 19.9 level of 273 and he had pancreatic cancer. After surgery and several sets of chemotherapy, it is now 18. Does that mean cancer has gone?
CA19-9 is not a sensitive enough indicator for this. 18 is a good sign that it is not present in any large way and that he is healing well, but small numbers of cancer cells could still remain behind.
How he is now i am asking as my mom also have same issue becouse of psoriasis and her CA 19.9 IS HIGH
Where did he have surgery
@anushkagupta1866 he is no more. But he had 4th stage pancreatic cancer while detecting itself.
Hope your mom doesn't have any other problems and she do well.
My condolences to you. Did his CA 19-9 levels rise again before he passed? I'm sorry if this is a very insensitive question.@@dreameronbike
ulcer paitence have hight Ca 19 9 value possible ?
Have not heard of this, but if the ulcer was in the duodenum near the Ampulla of Vater, it might be possible.

@@malayalininja9057 That sounds like a question for your doctor, which I am not.
yes, an ulcer can cause an elevation in CA19-9 for sure.
Merhaba brca gen testi pozitif olan bir hastanın ca 19-9 değeri 82 çıktıysa bunun anlamı nedir? Taş yada iltihap mıdır yoksa kanser midir?
My C A19.9 , test result 573.01.
Taken by itself, that doesn't mean much. Your doctor has so much more information to make diagnostic or treatment decisions. They may know your medical history, can look you in the eye, and understand your general health in no way that someone over the internet can. All I can say is that this is a high number that indicates some more investigation, but certainly not a diagnosis of pancreas cancer.
My ca19 is 600 something i have ovarian cyst is that mean i have something to worry about this high number

There’s a lot of factors that go into this as stated in the video. Such as, the timing between treatments, other symptoms, other problems going on such as blocked bile duct, gallbladder issues, etc. Way too much to get into on this channel. Best to ask these questions of his doctor who has all this background information. Use this video as a launching point for more in-depth discussions.
