you know there are people, lots of them, fasting a day every week. And eating almost no carbs, like under 20g a day. That's really how you solve most health problems (not all of course) - when the body is getting most of its energy from fat, and no longer being stressed by the carb-glucose-insulin process. 20 years in nutrition field for me, and I run a group on Anti-Aging. The healthiest people in the group are in their 60's, and look 40's, with a healthy glow and no real health issues. That's how they eat and its called keto...carb cravings eventually go away.

The Dr for some reason tends to misrepresent the influence of (added) sugar/carbs with invented mechanistic logic devoid of evidence. The American Institute for Cancer Research, like other sci organizations: "Does sugar feed cancer? It’s one of the questions we get asked often. We prepared this video to provide an evidence-based answer to this frequently asked question.
The bottom line: every cell in our bodies, including cancer cells, uses sugar (glucose) from our bloodstream for fuel.
We get that blood sugar from foods we eat containing carbohydrates, including healthful vegetables, fruits, whole grains and low-fat dairy sources. Some glucose is even produced within our bodies from protein, but there’s no clear evidence that the sugar in your diet preferentially feeds tumors over other cells.
There is a connection between sugar and cancer risk, however, but it’s more indirect than many realize. Eating a lot of high-sugar foods may mean more calories in your diet than you need, which eventually leads to excess body fat. After not smoking, being at a healthy weight is the most important thing you can do to prevent cancer. It is excess body fat that is convincingly linked to greater risk of these 12 types of cancer..."
When eg sugar / faster carbs are consumed with sport without driving fat-mass / T2D, its a different game.

Wow .. my grandfather always said sugar was poison, and I don't think that he understood how on the nose he was. Irony is he didn't eat a high processed diet, rather was exposed to second hand smoke and ended up dying of pancreatic cancer. At least that is the most likely case as my grandmother drank and smoke until she couldn't. He did at a much younger age, but quit. (He did live until his early 80s, at the very least, but losing anyone you love to pancreatic cancer is devastating... He was active until he was sick, and hearing his fast deterioration was heartbreaking...)
Thank you to this channel for being so informative and helping me better understand common causes as cancer has hit a few times and is always a concern. Many, many thanks.

At 59 I just realized that sugar was poison. I was very lucky that I got away with high amounts of it my entire life. I drank 2 Liters (yes Liters) of Dr. Pepper daily along with Gatorade and about 5 cups of coffee (2 spoons of sugar per cup). An audit came out to 350-400 grams per day. I remind you this is just my drinks and not the cookies and sweet cereal I ate daily. August of 2021 I cut 100% of my sugar drinks out and youtubed several diet and nutrition videos. I'm now over 60 and 52 pounds lighter and off all 4 prescription meds for high blood pressure, triglycerides and asthma. I have no more arthritis pain because I discovered 0 sugar = 0 inflammation =0 arthritis pain = 0 medication. When I decided to take this health rout I tried running and made it about 250 feet before I ran out of breath. Each day I reached a new goal further and further until I celebrated my first mile run. I now run 3 miles per day and I swear I feel 20 years old. I only wish I would have done this 30 years ago but hopefully I did it in time to give me a few more years with my grandkids. Funny thing is my grandmother always told me you are what you eat and I blew her off. They knew something we didn't!

People who drink a lot of alcohol can be more prone to certain types of cancers as you mentioned. I've always thought it was because of the high sugar content of booze. We ought to go on an anti-sugar crusade like we went on a no-smoking crusade a few decades ago. The power of group-think and advertising might help to slow down sugar consumption.

I also eat plant-based plant-strong organic first choice and after years of research on the GMO issue and our hi-jacked corporate food supply today that is so pervasive throughout the USA and Canada and modern western world lifestyles that destroyed Thailand's health that took about 40 years of my visual documentation to verify. For example, 40 years ago making several vacation trips to the Kingdom I was in total shock to see all the Thai People so slim and healthy living the cultural and traditional way. So the next 40 years every year I visited the Kingdom to slowly see all the Obesity creep in throughout the Thai population and the cause and effect
reason for this is. The USA Junk food sugar GMOs and Ultra Processed foods hijacked the traditional food recipes of Thailand. So sad and so true today. "

What feeds the cancer? I reversed my cancer when I went zero carb. I’ve been on a meat only diet for over 5 years. Not only did it cure my type 2 diabetes, but my kidney cancer, an RCC, began shrinking twice as fast as it had been growing the previous ten years.
I think its prudent, to know what fuel the cancers use instead of the number of cancers.
Most cancers thrive on sugar. Deprive them of this, and they shrink away.
Cancers destroy the mitochondria. So they cant use sugar and fat in the same way as other cells. But the can ferment sugar for their energy. Fat, or ketones, can not be fermented. So they can just use sugar. Some cancers, can use other methods of energy production. But what are they? We can not eat any carbs, and starve out those cancers that require sugar. As it seems exogenous sugars feed the cancer, but not gluconeogenisis. So by not eating any carbs, we are safe from those cancers, and can reverse current cancers.
But what about the other kind? What are they? What causes them? What is their source of energy?

A friend, about 15 years older than I, said, "Everybody will get cancer if they live long enough." Then, around the age of 70, he developed colon cancer. It was successfully treated surgically and follow-up chemo was started. He dropped the chemo after a couple months, developed leukemia a couple years after that, and died from the leukemia. It is unwise to turn our backs on cancer risks.

All disease progression requires both a lock and a key. One you may be born with, but without the other there is no progression of disease, and vice versa. Many people drink, eat sugar, smoke cigars and live to 99. While others are simply more susceptible to environmental toxins. Cancer is the end result of many different inputs and many different causes.

Whether that is by selecting a cancer group in the free Amazon Smile program, or making a larger outright donation, or learning how to make a QCD from a taxable IRA, a simple way that can help reduce your income tax and double the value of your donation...We all need to help the work get done.
Perhaps you could discuss options, and those organizations which have been found most cost-effective or most deserving of the groups we can help to fight cancer.

My colleague's girlfriend (2 younge kids) is battling breast cancer at 34 for over a year now and she's not out of the woods yet. This isn't a fight she should be fighting; she should be enjoying her two young daughters, and instead, she's worried she won't see another year. This always happens to the best of us humans too.
anyway...I'm hoping this forges new paths that ensures kids and young adults don't leave us before they can enjoy a full life.

Before I make my comment, I want to mention that this is not criticism of Dr. Hansen, I "frequently listen and learn" from his videos and I am a subscriber of his site. At 2:50 in the video Dr. Hansen states, "the immune system fixes mutations..." If he is broadly referring to the removal of cancerous cells by immune cells (phagocytosis) that's a reasonable way to think about the process. But, in the interest of specificity, the "DNA Damage Responses" corrects mutations. If it turns out that a mutation "irreparable", the cell goes through apoptosis, senescence, or immune-mediated removal. -- On a different note, let me mention that Dr. Hansen's characterization of the relationship between insulin and PI3K (at 5:00) is well-stated.

I understand that The main actions that insulin has are to allow glucose to enter cells to be used as energy and to maintain the amount of glucose found in the bloodstream within normal levels. We don't want sugar to enter the cell if we have cancer, right? What am I missing?

    • @morgansoren886

    • @heavenlypickler
      @heavenlypickler Год назад +9

I think he said it correctly. Blood glucose level is up or down depends on hormone insulin. In another words, insulin controls blood glucose. If your insulin is not sensitive, you develop insulin resistance which cannot keep blood glucose in check. If your insulin is working properly, it drives down blood glucose and keep it balance. He said insulin can work together with PI-3-Kinase-Inhibitor to drive glucose down, therefore, drives down cancer cell growth because glucose feed cancer cell growth. Again, he said correctly.

Thank you!
