When you eventually get around to Smash 4, here's an idea: Give Shulk an alt that references Alvis. The color scheme is different enough that it'd stand out from the other alts. That or an alt referencing one of his alternate armors from XB.
A funny idea for a costume for Ice Climbers would be giving them summer/beachwear outfits. Imagine them wearing swim trunks, Hawaiian shirts, straw hats, and flip flops.

For Zelda I think it would have been nice if her alts were the different iterations of Zelda throughout the games. Like how Hero’s alts are, it would have been nice to play as botw Zelda or oot Zelda again.

I think it would be cool if Ice Climbers could have Balloon Fighter outfits. I just feel like those two were some of the most notable Arcade/NES games.

That's his first incarnation, Demise. He'd make such a sick alternate costume, nobody would use default Ganondorf anymore.

For Marth I would also suggest something more like Ike by having his Prince outfit from Shadow Dragon and his King outfit from Mystery of the Emblem (the one that he's already using in Smash)

When it comes to Mr.G&W you could easily go for Ms.G&W, which could be a completely original skin. Although another good idea could be an skin based on Mario/Luigi based on the Mario & Luigi G&W game. That game was Luigi's first appearence, if I recall correctly, so it would be funny to have that as Mr.G&W's neutral design
For bowser, I think a perfect costume would be wedding bowser. It just makes too much sense

For the ICs, I though it'd be neat to reference the Topi enemies for an outfit. Base Popo's outfit on the Western Yeti design, while giving Nana one based on the Japanese seal design.

My ideas for costumes:
Rosalina: Biker costume from Mario Kart.
Little Mac: The protagonist from Super Punch Out (SNES).
Mega Man: ... uh, Super Mega Man from MM7? Helmet less Mega Man? I don't know.
Sonic: Classic Sonic or movie Sonic.
Ryu: The shirtless, bearded costume (or hot Ryu) from Street Fighter 5.
Ken: His primary costume from SFV.
Terry: Mark of the Wolves costume, baby!
Kazuya: The purple suit from Tekken 5, or the rolled up sleeves costume.
Hero: The hero from Dragon Quest 1!
@C.R.E.A.M. No, that's not gonna work for him. First of all; X, Volnutt, EXE and Star Force are much taller than how Mega Man is depicted in this game, so that alone disqualifies them as costumes.
Second, it wouldn't be very accurate to their characters considering Mega Man's moveset. It just wouldn't seem right to see X for example throwing Metal Blades and using Rush Coil, you know?
@C.R.E.A.M. Okay, but I'll insist that the other Mega Men just wouldn't really work for alternate costumes. The animations, and all the special moves, tilts and smash attacks were made specifically for classic Mega Man.
I think that the drowned could be a pretty cool costume for Steve/Alex. It’s not the most iconic mob but there isn’t really that much of a darker blue in any of their palettes. Either that or a piglin

For my concept for Young Link, they should ditch his OoT design and just deck him all out from Majora's Mask since that's the game he shines the very most. Like, I say replace the OoT Koriki Sword Iteration with the Majora's Mask one and his Hylian Shield. Taunts should be him playing the masks and be silly. I say the 3 taunts should make good use of the Keaton Mask, The Fierce Deity Mask, and The Deku, Goron, and Zora mask in that particular rotation. Moveset should replace his Fairy Bow with the bow from Majora's Mask (same with hookshot), bombs should have a longer detonation, maybe say 7 seconds, and replace boomerang with the Great Fairy Sword. Final smash should be more in reference to Fierce Deity doing something big and evil and possibly increase percentage to 40% or death if beyond 100%. If they did all that for Young Link, I would've main him day one
Mr.G&W’s alt should just be him dressed like Dante. Salt on the wound.

A possible Doctor Mario skin could be giving him different patterns to his outfit, like one where it has a pill pattern and another with a pattern of all the viruses. The virus pattern could be comparable to Lucas’ alts which have images of various characters on it, Doctor Mario’s would be like that except with the viruses and pills. Or there could be a unique design for each virus, perhaps his Doctor mirror thing on his head could turn into one of the viruses and the design on the coat could be based off of that virus in some way.
In the next Smash I feel it should be standard for them to go the MVC3 route where every character has an Alt. Costume

@@BJGvideos It’s a reference to Magneto in Marvel vs Capcom 3. Originally every character had a unique alt costume as DLC. Magneto’s costume was a reference to a look he had in the comics at some point, but it also heavily resembled the king of Spain. I don’t remember some of the details, but it ended up getting removed because of the resemblance.
1) I think a cool alt for G&W would be to make him super bright red like the virtual boy. Another idea would be to change him to just be a white outline made entirely of straight lines, kinda like the game Asteroids.
2) A cool alt for Steve would be to somehow make him into a blaze. The rods could be rearranged to make a body, arms, and legs. If not, something like a skeleton or piglin would work too.

Ike has young and old alts because it's Ike from 2 different games
Marth is also in 2 games with some years between them, and as such having a young costume also works (the Ultimate version is his older form)
The same isn't true for Roy. However, his father Eliwood could be an alt, and given that Eliwood's final weapon is literally the Blazing Sword, it even makes sense for all the fire stuff. Given that Eliwood's game was the first outside Japan, it's a shame it doesn''t have any representation in smash. FE7 has no representation while FE13 has 3 characters for some reason. Having Eliwood as a Roy costume (or echo fighter instead of Chrom) would fix that.
Would it be cool if Snake got his MGS2 appearence with his long hair.
Ike could have his Vanguard look in the mobile game: Fire Emblem Heroes with the 3 split cape thing.

I really want Peach to have her outfit from Sunshine as a costume. It’d work so well! Bowser and Peach should both have their wedding outfits too, especially since there’s amiibos of them.
Olimar: If we're gonna have Alf as a character, bring in Louie or Brittany too. Each skin could have two slots like with Hero.
Sonic: Classic Sonic comes to mind, but it wouldn't really work since he's so much shorter and has less reach than modern Sonic. So instead, I have a few other ideas. Maybe give him an outift based on Sonic Riders, an outfit to represent Darkspine Sonic (Sonic and the Secret Rings), or just a color alt to represent Shadow.
R.O.B: Maybe give him some circular colorful spots on his body to represent one of his karts in Mario Kart DS.
Wolf: Brawl outfit.
For Bowser, there are plenty of options to be honest, including Dry Bowser, Fury Bowser, Wedding Bowser (mario has a wedding skin so why couldn't Bowser ?) and probably my favourite : Dark Bowser from Inside Story.
Maybe you should make a Game & Watch costume that makes him golden, which comes from the Golden Game & Watch series from either in the 80s or the ones from 2021

I've said it before, I'll say it again.
Ike should have a costume based on the Disciples of Order. While it's hard to find color examples, you can always use Radiant Dawn Bosses Yuma & Catalena for examples. Plus, a brief google search will show some generic enemies with the armor.
So, Aaron, if you read this, please try to photoshop - or commission - Disciples of Order Colored Ike. Likely with his Radiant Dawn costume, but Path of Radiance will be fine too.
For Bowser, it'd be super cool (however unlikely it is) if they represented the Mario & Luigi series and made colors for either Midbus or Dark Bowser from Bowser's Inside Story
For Sheik, I think it'd be cool to do a 'different character is a skin' thing (like Olimar/Alph, Bowser Jr/Koopalings, etc) and have it be Impa
For Zelda, I feel like they DEFINITELY missed out by not making all of the different reincarnations of Zelda be the alts

White should be Fierce Deity because it’s closer to that color
Pink should be Keaton Mask simply as a cutesy option
Cyan should be Mask of Truth because it has the Sheikah symbol and Impa is usually associated with blues
Orange should be Odolwa’s mask, to simply feature a boss mask, but probably without the feathers or earrings for hitbox reasons
Dark should be left alone because it’s a dedicated Dark Link alternate and is already great

For Game and Watch, the only colour I could think would work would be Purple to reference the GameCube, similar to how his red alt references the Virtual Boy

Honestly, I think a good idea for Dr. Mario would be the Scientist Outfit from Super Mario Odyssey (which originates from a commercial for the Super Game Boy). Considering that scientists could be considered a form of doctor, it makes sense to me.

For Mr Game & Watch make him a chef or give him a divers helmet or ANY OF THE OTHER COSTUMES HE'S HAD IN THE GAME & WATCH GAMES
Great video! I liked the ideas you gave, so I decided to suggest a couple myself!
For Young Link, give him a Fierce Deity alt. I'm actually pretty shocked it's not already in the game lol. Other ideas could be making him full on Majora's Mask Link. Like, give him the MM version of the Kokiri Sword, the Hero's Shield and change his side taunt to have Tatl instead of Navi. I personally really liked your idea of giving him some of the different masks for some alts, like Keaton's Mask, Kafei's Mask etc.!
For Ganon, I like the idea of giving him either his Twilight Princess appearance again, or my more preferred option, making him Ganon from A Link to the Past! I'd even be alright with an Agahnim alt, that would be super cool too! But for me, the Ganon from ALttP is just as iconic as OoT, so having both in one game would be a dream to me lol.
For Zelda, you have quite a few options! I like the mod you brought up as an option, and would've been my suggestion if it wasn't brought up haha. Other options are possibly OoT Zelda to finish off the OoT character representation in Ultimate. We've got OoT Ganon and Young Link, whose design is based on OoT Young Link instead of MM. So, logically speaking, completing the Triforce of OoT characters would be preferable.
And the last character I have an idea for is Pichu. I'd love the idea of Pichu having similar representation of the Pokemon protagonists via hats, but I'd like it if Pichu was based more on the classic, original designs for the characters. For an example, Gold's hat from Pokemon G/S/C is different than it was in HG/SS, so whereas Pikachu has the HG/SS hat, Pichu could have the G/S/C hat. Same thing for Red's hat, maybe give Pichu May's hat or Brendan's hat from Ruby/Sapphire, etc.

I really don't understand why they decided to go with OoT Young Link instead of MM Young Link. Adult Link is way more iconic than Young Link, and In OoT, Young Link can't use items like the Hookshot and the Bow, but there are specific MM versions of those items that Young Link can use. The lack of a Fierce Deity Final Smash is also pretty disappointing.

Ngl I was kinda upset that bowser didn't get a costume of Dry Bowser, in my opinion it's the best version of bowser!
I still hold that Belmont should've been one character with koopaling type costumes (Simon, Trevor, Richter, Christopher, Juste, Leon, Julius, and i guess Gabriel) that way we couldve had Alucard. Really no point in making Richter an echo
If Richter was a costume then there would just be one less character slot in the roster, echo fighters get added because they can just copy & paste 95% of the base character's code (possibly even more with Richter and especially Daisy) though I really wish they would make an actual gameplay difference that's not as negligible as what they did with Richter, Daisy, and Dark Samus because they are not justified as separate character slots as the game would basically be the exact same if they were just costumes of the base fighters, and that would be incredibly easy to code as they just have to tweak some numbers in the characters base stats or move data code to make them different without messing with any animations.
The best thing I can think of for Ice Climbers is maybe a Famicom color scheme like ROB's, since that's what their only game is from. Or maybe wood-patterned parkas to match their hammers? I was initially going to suggest an orange or purple color scheme to match the condor and/or eggplant from the original game, but then I checked and saw that their eighth alt is already basically that.
The reason why Roy didn't get a young appearance is because in the games there is only little kid roy (in the ending of FE7) and teenage Roy (the one that is playable), there is no young and old Roy, the one that we have in Smash is supposed to be teenage Roy. Meanwhile Ike was the/a main character in 2 games and was young in one of them and adult in the other.
Pit's Alternate should be the Sacred Treasures armor, Snake should have MGS4 or 5 design, Sonic.....idk maaaaybe Sonic and the Black Knight look? That's the only really alternative Sonic design I can think of
Lucas could get one based off Kumatora?
Pokemon Trainer could obviously get one based on the Galar Trainers, but also maybe some alternates based on the alternate Trainer outfits for May/Brendan from Emerald and Lucas/Dawn in Platinum? Leaf could also get one based on Crystal, the first female player Trainer
King Dedede could obviously get Masked Dedede, even though that's already his Final Smash, Meta Knight already has great costumes....
For game and watch I think something of a tan body with a red outline could work since that would reference the game and watch systems
8:40 when I was little I was 110% sure that mewtwo already had an armor variant in melee. It fucked with me completely when I started melee last month and learned it was never there

I know he may not be a top choice of discussion, but I was kind of hoping for Sora to get an Anti-form costume. Just him being pitch black and having glowing yellow eyes would've been a sick costume in a way.

Falco: I’d respectfully disagree, I’d be happy to see him in his assault jumpsuit
Dr Mario: hmmm quarterback mario… not a bad idea, I went the mad doctor costume (the one with the mad white hair)
Pichu: I went a different route and gone with recolours based on the “pikachu clones” (namely emolga)
Mewtwo: I’d be happy with either though armoured mewtwo does have some sentimental value to me (and plenty of recolour options)
Marth: personally I am not a fan of his classic design, unless done right it will look too goofy for me, instead I went a completely weird direction and gave him a costume based of Yuri from 3 houses. Mainly cause I see Yuri as an “Anti-Marth”
Roy: he’s my boy 😅 i know his current outfit is a mix of his classic and awakening outfits, but for me I would love to see him in the awakening outfit.
Mr game and watch: I just give him different colour patterns
I have a few cosrtume ideas. For peach shadow queen or toadette , for bowser wedding bowser and for young link an alt were he wears mayoras mask with a mix of Orange and green on the rest of the costume as a reference to skullkid

For marth he could get a costume based on Merric Linde or his ancestor Anri (that’s his brave alt appearance), for roy he could get a costume based on idunn melady or sue from binding blade
For Game and Watch, I would really like to see a 2d Game and Watch style Mario, Mickey (never happening), or Ms Game and Watch as a joke. I would like to see Mega Mewtwo X as a costume, since its not a final smash, and not related to Melee, I wish Kirby had an alt based on epic yarn, the hats could change to resemble yarn as well, but that would take a lot of effort on the smash teams part of it came to fruition.
Isn’t there a mad scientist outfit in Mario Odyssey? That could work as a Dr Mario alt.
An idea for ice climbers, would be to keep the default colours, but swap the positions. Having nana in front while still wearing pink, and having popo in the back, still wearing blue.
I think one of Ike's radiant dawn alts should have been his vanguard outfit. It's bestowed upon him in the final act of the game to defeat the final boss that has already "ended" the world. Having his standard p.o.r. outfit alongside his vanguard is a neat way to pay a nod of his growth from a fledgling mercenary to general of the world army/radiant hero. Idk how many will agree with me here but this is what I've been wanting since he was added in brawl.
Mr Game & Watch is certainly a very tricky character to come up with alternate costumes for, especially since now in Ultimate they made it so now he even transforms into certain characters to make the references in moves that better. Had they'd not gone with that decision, the chef he turns into during his neutral special would've been a great alt for him or even the Simon says character that appears in his up tilt.
The attack refrencing Flagman doesn't give him the sailor costume, so that's still an option
If peach got a new alternate costume with no dress there would have to be new animations for down smash and the floating, (maybe the taunt). Which I can’t really see any change with no dress working with those besides loose power up references like the tanooki suit or the cape.

You could add different hats throughout the games onto his frames that aren’t attacks ( like the hat from the guy on the boat in parachute )
Pichu could have a team yell hairstyle
Shadow queen outfit for peach would be perfect

I think Sonic should have costumes that actually change his color, make him white to reference Silver, black and red for Shadow, maybe even red for Knuckles or pink for Amy
For Marth and Roy, they should have their resplendent designs from fire emblem heroes
This or give them their awakening appearance

While I don't think every character needs alternate costumes, Ice Climbers being an example purely due to lack of resource to pull from, there are quite a few that could have used some that I'm disappointed that they didn't.
Off the top of my head. Construction Luigi, letting the Zelda characters keep their Twilight looks as alternates, Evil Ken and Ryu, Pokemon Trainer actually being the different trainers from other games, the other defaults for Robin and Corrin, Donkey Kong's Punchout outfit.
I feel like they gave up half way through since some characters do actually have different costumes and others are just recolors.
One that bothers me in particular is Dragon Quest's Hero not having the female forms. I know only two out of the four had that but it would have been nice to have.
