Dang it
Why wasn’t Ganon the boss for Roy’s route? He’s literally holding those two gigantic swords!
Talk about Peach not even getting Giga Bowser
He's a boss for Zelda characters only, I suppose...
Also Sephiroth because he wanted to flex.

Marth’s Classic Route is actually a reference to the fact that his sword, the Falchion, is a dragon slaying sword, and typically the only weapon that can defeat the final boss of any given Fire Emblem game that it appears in.

Marth: *looks around and then points at the sword confused*

sigh smash youtuber not understanding fire emblem again...
@@tasty_ham can’t blame someone for not playin a game
to be fair, that could also apply to lucina, chrom, roy and corrin. the falchion, binding blade and omega yato are all known for their dragon effectiveness. also, at least for the games i played, the weapon is not the only thing that can kill the final boss, the effectiveness just helps greatly. from what i do know, only duma (from gaiden) and idunn (from binding blade if you want the best ending) need to be brought down by the legendary weapon. in FE4 killing the final boss without using the book of naga is technically possible, but extremely difficult
In Shadow Dragon, the remake for FE1, it’s actually a better idea to NOT get Falchion at all as the spheres needed to trade for it are way more useful, especially on the hardest difficulty where using Marth, even with capped stats, against the final boss is an invitation for a game over.

Hey hi you
I wish they utilized the other bosses more. With Pichu’s being about lightweights, he should’ve had Marx since he’s the smallest boss, Shiek should’ve had Galleom since he has a metal mask, Roy should’ve had Ganon cause of his 2 swords, and G&W should’ve had Dracula since Castlevania’s an older series (and they did that for Pac-Man who had a similar theme).
Actually Sheik's clásic mode is perfect since Master Core is Master hand and crazy hand.
Galleom isn't really wearing a mask, that is his face. Technically Crazy and Master Hand are wearing giant gloves to hide their true forms.
The game needs more bosses in general, why not bring back porky or even give some old forms like marx's soul?
@@linguine4500 what about rayquaza and tabuu?
Mr. Game & Watch's route is about fighting characters in retro stages, not in oldest characters because that's PAC-MAN's route.
Mewtwo's final fight against the Hands could be a reference to how Master Hand was under Tabuu's control in the Subspace Emissary
Be funny if they add Tabuu as an extra boss and Master Hand joins you
that and in world of light
@@virtualarcher1 no he was attack by Tabuu before Ganondorf came to Master hand, and then killed
@@virtualarcher1 master hand was technically “puppeted” by tabuu in sse. tabuu took advantage of everyone’s trust and allegiance to master hand by giving out orders with him using the cords that were stuck inside of master hand. so in a sense, master hand was being “mind” controlled
falco's classic mode should have been called "personally, i prefer the air". he would fight against flying characters like pit, meta knight, charizard
That's genius. What a missed opputunity
It would end with a fight against a Green Greninja, which references his hatred of Slippy
@@ShibuNub3305 or marx, cause he's always in the air, and has very few classic mode routes he stars in.
@@ShibuNub3305 Yeah, cuz we ALL hate Slippy Toad. The most annoying and worst Star Fox character ever.
Agree, it fits Falco a lot better
I just realized that Lucina wasnt in Sheik's classic mode. What a missed opportunity
If she had a masked alt in this game, it probably would've worked
I think it’s because her mask is only included in her opening animation and one of her taunts?
Joker too
@@gangy3606 well to be fair he was added as DLC
@@NewSinns yeah I know, but Joker was perfect for that classic mode
I don't get why Mario isn't a duo with Luigi in the Ice Climbers route
Maybe since it was Mario and Peach, this means that nana and popo aren’t related but in a relationship?
@@gravyona_21 haha no
@@mythoughtsexactly2145 just a theory. I still have no idea on what their status is

Feel that for Roy's Classic Mode it should've involved fighters referencing Bern's Wyvern Generals & instead of Master Hand and Crazy Hand as the final boss it should've been a Giant Ridley referencing the Demon Dragon
Or used Ganon instead because he wields 2 giant swords. And Ganon lacks non-Zelda character boss fights.
@@emanueltheodorus1056 Except Sephiroth.

It's simple trick but it's unbreakable.
Crazy did debuted in Melee
@@kevinaguirre3666 How come i forgot that.
Note: Mr. Game & Watch's route isn't really about fighting the oldest debuting characters (as it's Pac-Man's route), but rather fighting them on retro stages. All of the stages in his route are old school styled stages, referencing Mr. Game & Watch's debut in old school video game, that being Game & Watch series.
Peach really should have fought Giga Bowser at the end of her Classic Mode.
I love how Zelda looks in the thumbnail

Can we just appreciate how wonderful and creative mewtwo’s classic mode is?
I know it's not related to melee, but I like how sephiroth classic mode is essentially a boss rush. He is the final boss.
I know it’s not related to melee, but Fun fact: Sephiroth is 42069 times faster than sonic the hedgehog
Master Hand: Exists
Aaronitmar: **visable agony**
can you blame him? i have started to favor certain routes by virtue of not having the hands at the end
Too much hands
There actually was an episode of Pokemon where a Drowzee controlled everyone's Pokemon, including Pikachu. Honestly, what surprises me more is that it wasn't Palutena who was Mewtwo's partner after, since she was ALSO mind controlled controlled, instead by Chaos.
And there’s also when the blue orb possessed Pikachu
As well as in Pokémon black and white where in one episode pikachu almost killed ash after being controlled
The penultimate G&W battle against a G&W hoard might also be a reference to the end of All-Star Mode in Melee where you have to fight of a hoard of G&Ws on Flat Zone
01:37 that's literally what I explain about the similarity between Carrotia the Rabbit and Cream because Carrotia comes BEFORE Cream
The 4 Dark Link can be a reference to Shadow Link you'll encounter in Four Swords Adventures, and he will duplicate himself to 4
In Mewtwo route, Master and Crazy hand actually makes the most sense since they was under both Galeem and Dharkon control in the World of Light
Also Tabuu, at least for Master Hand.
I'm surprised Roy's route doesn't end with Ganon since that Boss wields giant swords.
I wish they added more bosses to have diversity in the final fights in classic mode, maybe bring back older bosses like Rayquaza, Porky, Duon, and even Tabuu.
@@fasterseven2756 you mean Galleom? he's in it already. only one from Brawl that is in it surprisingly.

Take a shot every time Master Hand and Crazy Hand are involved in a final boss battle.
In sheik's route during the mii fighters fight , You forgot to point out the Black knight since he's a soldier that fits the alter ego theme, he's an important military figure who secretly allies with both sides of the conflict while having a secret reason of his own.
Wow! I had no idea that Bowser fought Metal Mario for the final battle! That's awesome!
10:52 this is very much a reference to TP. The final boss of that game was a sword fight 1v1 against Ganondorf in Eldin (really close to that bridge).
Master hand and crazy hand in dr. Mario’s route may reference how doctors usually wear gloves?
In Pichu's route, you forgot to mention that almost all of the stages used (Pokemon Stadium, Peach's Castle, Skyworld, Pilot Wings, Skyloft, Prism Tower) bring the fights up into the air. Also, Roy's final boss is primarily Crazy Hand, and Ice Climbers and Mewtwo always fight both Hands no matter the Intensity.
For falco's route, I think mr game and watch being considered a dark character has to do with subspace emissary, where he was fought on the halbard and soon after freed
That and being the source of the Shadow Bugs that created the Subspace Army.
Not to mention there an event match in Brawl where you fought G&W with Falco’s dark alt.
@@WaluigiTime-8106 In fact, every solo event in Brawl and Smash 4 has Falco fighting G&W
Actually that should've been mentioned in the video. Also I never even knew that until this comment
Drinking Game: Take a shot everytime Master Hand and Crazy Hand are mentioned!
Also, take a drink every time an ad interrupts this video
I did it and can now inform you, that they have wifi in the afterlife.
@@TheSorrel That's a relief.
Details you may have missed:
- Marth’s Classic Route is actually a reference to the fact that his sword, the Falchion, is a dragon slaying sword, and typically the only weapon that can defeat the final boss of any given Fire Emblem game that it appears in.
- Falco's classic route is specifically against the "dark" forms of main characters, in one way or another. The giant G&W on the Find Mii stage may be a reference to the numerous clones piloting the Halberd in the Subspace Emissary.
- Young Link's Zelda-inspired route has the battles represent game _in order of release_ specifically:
> OG Zelda (against Zelda herself on the oldest Zelda stage)
> Adventure of Link (Temple stage and Dark Link both originate here)
> Ocarina of Time (Sheik and Gerudo Valley first appeared here)
> Wind Waker / Four Swords (both were released in-between OoT and TP)
> Twilight Princess (fairly obvious)
> Breath of the Wild (also obvious)
- The ally Pikachu in the final boss of Mewtwo's route is wearing Red's hat from the OG Red and Blue games, so it might be a reference to Red catching Mewtwo, and therefore putting him under _his_ control instead.
Missed opportunities in Sheik's route; it should've included fighting both R.O.B. and Galleom; R.O.B. because he masqueraded as "The Ancient Minister" in the Subspace Emissary, and Galleom because he is literally wearing a giant metal mask.
Pikachu in the anime actually was mind-controlled. At the top of my head, he was brainwashed by a Drowzee, Groudon via the Blue Orb, a bunch of Beheeyem (very briefly though), Colress' mind control machine and a Malamar. There could be more, though.
Well for Game&Watch's route it makes a little more sence, since Master Hand IS the oldest boss in Smash.
Considering that Castlevania is older then freaking smash itself I think Dracula is more suitable
@@UlulvarCape I'm not referring the games they originally came from, I mean bosses in Smash itself. Dracula is a new boss to Smash, but Master Hand's been around since you first booted up 64.
@@wingedbluj1674 I'm aware actually as a matter of fact, just that, considering that yeah sure it's the oldest since the games came out, it would be a more suitable boss for G&W.
The hands in the G&W route could be a references to the hands of the players of the game & watch series
Falco's route more specifically highlights characters that are seen as evil copies or mirrors of the original hero, probably highlighting Falco originally being a "clone" of Fox in Melee. I think Game & Watch is reference to his role in Subspace Emissary where he the origin of the Shadow Bugs that could be used to create evil clones of fighters. Crazy Hand is also therefore the dark counterpart to the original Master Hand.
Koopaling Roy without eyes was the most terrifying thing I've ever seen
Have you seen 3D Mr. Game & Watch?
Peach fighting King K.Rool in her Classic Mode was a refence to how he kidnapped Donkey Kong in Diddy's Kong Quest and Both DK and Diddy in Dixie Kong's Double Trouble, I'm surprised you missed that considering that's the main plot for both games.
Hearing the word “Masked Man” gives me severe ptsd
Agreed. In a way, Mother 3 is very traumatizing all together.
_The wounds haven't healed_
Yeah
3:48 - Thanks a lot Mario, so much for "Bros. before Hoes"
I enjoy this series so far! I hope the progress of it goes well with the rest!
Don't forget for Mewtwo, both Master Hand and Crazy Hand have been controlled by others before. Master Hand by Tabuu in Brawl and Galeem in Ultimate, and Crazy Hand by Dharkon, also in Ultimate
I believe the reasons for Marth, Ike, and Roy appearing in Ganon’s classic mode are because of their swords: Marth’s Falcion is the “blade of light” in a similar sense to the Master Sword; Roy has the Binding Blade which I guess is a sealing sword, like the Master Sword being the “sword that seals the darkness”; and Ike has Ragnell which is blessed by a god, just like the Master Sword. It could also be because of game titles having “Light”, “Radiance”, and, in its prequel, “Blazing”, all light based names.
Can you post a version of the thumbnail art on Twitter by itself? Gonna love the video btw
The Young Link one is supposed to represent the Zelda games in order. First you fight Zelda, referencing the first game, then Shadow Link (Adventure of Link), Sheik (Ocarina of Time), Toon Link (Wind Waker/Four Swords), Ganondorf (Twilight Princess) and Link (Breath of the Wild).
Master Hand is really the litmus test for characters the devs didn’t give a shit about
I'm really enjoying this series so far!
Who else finds it absolutely hilarious/fascinating that Nintendo is so detailed in their referencing...
And gives such odd boss battles.
Peach's Hand Boss fight was possibly a reference to her iconic gloves, along with her kidnapping by the Subspace Army.
You already mentioned Ice Climbers.
Shiek's, while Galleom would've been prefferable, is probably because Master Core hides in Master Hand, along with the whole glove vibe.
Dr. Mario's, while it could've been Marx, is because of the germophobic vibe of gloves. Highly unlikely because they lack color.
Pichu's is a bit of a mystery to me. While the Hands are... 'light', Marx would've been a much better fit, especially considering he's an electric type.
Falco's, like Fox's, is also most likely a reference to Andross.
Ganondorf's is highly unlikely because the Hands are white.
Mewtwo's is possibly because Master Hand was 'controlled' by Tabuu in the Subspace Emissary.
Roy's absolutely befuddled me. Maybe it was for the irony??
Finally,
Mr. Game and Watch's is possibly because Master Hand is the oldest boss of SSB? (someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't remember)
I'll be doing this to all of your videos. Mwahahahaha!
In the X and Y Pokemon anime, there was an episode where Pikachu was mind controlled by a Malamar who wanted to take over the world
For Dr. Mario's playthrough, the 3 kirby and the wispy woods play a refence to whenever you beat the 5th level (5, 10, etc.) of a Med or Hi speed playthrough in single player, where you get a image of the 3 virus in a tree looking at the sky and weird things fly by. (based of which level and speed was cleared.)
In Roy’s Journey of Swords, why is Ganon not the final boss. He uses swords even in his beast form, it fits.
no idea. at least the damage output and counter makes roy one of the better characters against the hands
No wonder that Sephiroth took Pichu as his loyal companion with that cute Pichu in the thumbnail
Heck yeah I've been waiting for this one
About the fight against Master Hand in Ganondorf's route: while the reference seems about right, Ganondorf was loyal to Master Hand through and through until he found out MS was being controlled by Tabuu the whole time to manipulate the villains to defeating the heroes(as well as each other) returning them to their trophy state. Ganondorf then attempted to attack Tabuu before ultimately being wiped by him.
I think he was also planning to betray him. You can see Ganondorf smile in an evil way after Master Hand contacts him, so he was probably planning to betray him. Also, why would he attack Bowser, if not for taking out every possible opponent after he took Master Hand place?
Marx doesn’t have enough representation in the classic mode routes like he could fit so well but is so underused
He would be the final boss for my most wanted character but alas they seem like they'll never add Terra Branford. Hopefully next game, eh?
Pichu looks cute in the thumbnail and I wish that he can always put Pichu on the thumbnail
Its a shame for Falco they didn't program a Double Crazy Hand fight.
I think Crazy Hand showing up for Falco's route could also be a reference to how Falco is the counterpart of Fox, and so Crazy Hand parallels this as the counterpart of Master Hand
But the problem is that Fox is very, VERY, *VERY* different from Falco!
I love how Peach's theme is "kidnapping"
You missed that most of Dr. Mario's fights are against characters from games with entries that have similar puzzle gameplay. Yoshi had a tetris game, one of the game and watches was similar to Dr. Mario, ROB has the stack-up game, and Kirby is on Green Greens which has the yellow blocks falling from the sky like how pills fall down in Dr. Mario
Hi I think you missed a reference for pichu’s route since he fights olimar on the LIGHT plane from pilot wings
Nearly all of Pichu’s battles are on stages that involve the sky to add to that floaty light weight feeling.

That thumbnail is legitimately the cutest thing I've ever seen
Dr. Mario's route is literally just fighting the viruses. Every character is colored yellow blue and red. The Kirby one gets a bonus reference with the blocks falling in the stage.
Maybe Roy isn’t his real name, and he stole it from the fire emblem character, and his real name is super embarrassing. That’s why he’s in Shiek’s classic mode because he hides his identity so as not to be embarrassed.
The problem is that Roy from Mario came first
For peach's classic mode the boss fight against the hands could also be a reference to subspace emissary where every character except for luigi and a few others who were outside of the subspace at the time being captured
That moment when he said “jerudo”
Yes I felt that too
I didn't catch the references of mewtwo's classic mode in the slightest when i played it, it's actually really cool. Probably the best theming of the ones you covered so far.
Pokemon are controlled in Pokemon Rangers: Shadows of Almia.
Pikachu has been Mind controlled like 3 times throughout the Pokemon Anime
I don't understand why Sheiks boss isn't Galleom who is a mask-wearing boss himself...
Ganondorf has my favorite Classic Mode route. I love to slam enemies with his sword or try to pull off some Warlock Punches.
I'm surprised that no Melee fighters challenge Giga Bowser. Likewise, it would have been cool for Doc to fight Marx, Sheik to battle Galleom, and for Roy's boss to be Ganon.
Good video!
Sheik's clasic mode references how Master Core is inside the gloves.
That’s literally what I did with Ganondorf too! I love how powerful he is!
17 seconds after uploading is a PR for me
Ice Climbers: Mario and Peach? Hah Perfect, it’s good that you don’t have a brother or anything.
last time i was this early the wii u was relevant
Falco's route feels like it's a reference to him being a clone character in melee.
As a Doc main, I am not a fan of Dr. Mario's Classic mode route. It's kinda boring in my opinion. If I were to change or alter it, here's my draft:
The gimmick of this route is that it depicts current events, referencing the condition the world is in right now, which is the COVID-19 pandemic.
Stage 1: Fights Samus and Sheik in New Donk City. Both characters wear face masks because everyone in the world must wear a mask outside. New Donk City is the stage because it is a big city where the virus is prevalent.
Stage 2: Byleth, Min Min, and Sephiroth free for all in Spring Stadium: All fighters fight at least six feet away and it references Social Distancing and the Arms stadium is a rightful fit for long-ranged brawl
Stage 3: Simon and Richter at Dracula's Castle: See above.
Stage 4: Cloud at any stage with a vehicle: He has motion sickness and Doc should cure it.
Stage 5: Mr. Game and Watch Horde battle at Halberd. In the Subspace Emissary, GnW were used to form shadow bugs and they also look like a virus.
Stage 6: Bayonetta at Umbra Clock Tower: She has a move called Bat Within and like the it says, the virus originally came from bats in China.
Bonus Stage
Final Battle: Dracula because he is a vampire and turns into a bat.
Thoughts on my take on Dr. Mario's Classic mode?
Changes I’d make to each route:
-Change Round 6 to Ridley in Peach’s route, then have the boss be Bowser/Giga Bowser
-Have Sheik’s route end with Galleom
-Have Dr. Mario’s route end with Marx
-Have Falco’s route be a fight against characters with more than two jumps, ending with Rathalos
-Have Ganondorf’s route be a fight against every Melee veteran, ending with Bowser/Giga Bowser
-Have Roy’s route end with Ganon
-Have Mr. Game & Watch’s route be a fight against characters from the Switch era to the NES era in reverse chronological order, ending with Dracula
I see a pattern with these boring master and crazy fights
OOOOH New Classic Mode video, yay!
Fun fact about Pichu’s route. After Jigglypuff, the stages take place in high places in the sky. Sky world for G&W, Pilotwings for Olimar, and Skyloft for Kirby. This is a reference to how easy it is to launch all these characters. You get hit, your going high.
This might be a stretch, but Charizard in Marth’s route might be a reference to the fact that the Manakete are usually red fire dragons in the first Fire Emblem.
Not gonna lie, Master Hand and Crazy Hand are probably my favorite Classic Mode fights. It might have something to do that they are, in my opinion, the most creative bosses you fight against and have the largest move pool out of all the other Classic Mode bosses.
Finger snapping, punching, slapping, grabbing, creating static electricity through friction, lazer fingers, pointing, thrashing around, casting magic orbs, throwing steel spheres or ink-filled balloons, drilling, fanning, tearing the background, and walking (okay, those last three I have yet to see in Ultimate, but they so use those moves in Smash 4) just to name a few. I'm pretty sure I'm still finding new ones every couple Classic playthroughs!
Also with Pikachu, i remember in the Unova region, he was mind controlled by team plasma. I remember him almost killing Ash.
Sora:i am the lightest character now
Pichu:i have a rival
The fact that Wario is fought at Luigi’s Mansion in Doctor Mario’s classic mode could be a reference to Vampire Wario from Doctor Mario 64.
0:36 considering Dr. Mario and WFT were put together in the "eat to live" category in Smash 4 Conquest, I think you are not looking too much into it. Nintendo does seem to consider them similar because they are both about health.
1:26 In the Game & Watch Galley 3 (I might be wrong) versión of Donkey Kong, Peach is kidnnaped by the Dong.
Maybe one interesting fact about Dr. Marios Classic route, the fight against the Kirbys on the stage might also reference the short cutscenes that you'll get to see eventually once you've passed a certain number of stages. The three virusses stand atop a giant tree, just like Whispy Woods in the background.
A bit late, but here's a missed reference:
Mr. Game And Watch was the source of the Shadow Bugs in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. What's interesting is that he's suppose to be true neutral - having no sense of good nor evil, according to Sakurai himself.
K.Rool being in Peach's route is a reference to K.Rool kidnapping DK in DKC2 and then kidnapping DK (again) & Diddy in DKC3
I actually like the Shiek final boss being the Hands because we never see who they are attached to
13:36 One change I would make to Roy’s classic mode is make the route’s boss Ganon. Roy’s classic is titled *A Journey of Swords* so it would have been perfect for him to fight Ganon who uses two swords.
