    Creating a purse or bag is fairly simple once you've got a basic pattern. You can then take that concept and apply it to different styles and make the bag to your preference.
    In this video, Chuck will be making a pattern for a rustic bag with a flap closure.

    This guy is so much easier to listen to than most instructional videos. Clear, concise, straight forward, and full of energy. No wasted time. As a person with ADD, I have to say this is refreshing.

    I bought this purse kit, and modified it a bit. It was spectacularly easy. Thank you for this series and selling the kit. It was my first leather working project, but it won’t be my last.

    I've seen this series and other videos about making leather bags and they have been very informative. One thing I have noticed is missing, though: How to add internal partitions and zippered pockets, and the like, similar to that you would find in commercial items. Otherwise, thans again for your teaching! It's great!

    Your a excellent teacher and you have a lovely, clear and soothing voice. You're wonderful at wording things in a way it all makes sense and easy to understand. I really enjoyed watching your tutorial.
    The one thing I wish was different is the camera zoom. It needed to be zoomed in on your pattern, while you were drawing. I could not see your pattern.
    I normally do a lot of RUclips watching on my phone. Unfortunately my phone only allows me to zoom in a very small amount, when watching videos.
    For me its easier to learn when I can see and hear the instructions. Because you're so great at teaching, the way you (explain) everything. I could still follow along and learn with no problem. Which made for a very enjoyable video.
    Only reason I'm saying anything about close ups on your drawings, Is it maybe helpful to others and me in future vidoes. Plus it may help you get more views and subscribers...
    Over all its a great tutorial. You did Great and I enjoyed this video.
    Now I'm off to watch your next video. :)
    Best Wishes
    🙂👍👍

    Hi Chuck, I am new to working with leather and I bought this kit and made it. I have learned so much from your teachings. I would like to know if you would make a bag larger than this one with a zipper and pockets with shoulder straps as well? I have enjoyed every video you have made and look forward to many more. Thank you so much.

    I've been working on trying to make myself a new bag, but I've been struggling with the patterns as I've never had to make my own before; I've always used pre-made ones. This really helped me figure out what I'm doing so thanks so much!

    what oz veg tan leather should I use to make a bag similar to this? I have some 5-6oz leather....is that too thick?

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  5 лет назад

      Hello,
      5-6 oz leather will work pretty well, it may be a little thick. Ideally, you should use 4-5 oz leather for bags.

    Two questions for you Chuck. First when using suede for lining can you use suede from a fabric store or get suede from a leather supply company. Second question if making molding templates from leather would it work for guns as well. As i am not in a position to purchase blue guns yet

    • @WeaverLeatherSupply
      @WeaverLeatherSupply  4 года назад

      Hi Russell,
      On the first question: You can always buy suede from the fabric store, but, you’re really going to pay a lot “per foot” and the quality is iffy at best. I would say go with a leather company, like us (sales pitch), and you’ll get a full cut for about what you’d pay for 3 or 4 ft. there. You’ll also get a higher quality tannage, a much larger piece to work from and the color selection is wide open (we have 21 rich colors). If the fabric store is convenient or you don’t need but a few small pieces then a fabric store will do and you’ll be fine!
      On the second question - yes you can use leather to wet mold, a gun will be a bit more difficult but if you can get the leather into the shape you need then absolutely.

    Hey Chuck, does your wife ever wonder why her kitchen plasticware is full of ink? My wife would kill me if I ever did that. She would first give me a lecture about never using food prep plasticware with my crafts. Then she would ask me to to take a ride with her to the Dollar Store to purchase whatever plasticware I needed. After being married for almost 50 years she’s used to it.
