    RG3 in Washington was pretty clearly another Vince Young situation. The owner wanted him, the coach didn't. Gets him hurt, replaces him with Cousins at the first opportunity, and throws him under the bus for not wanting to be put in more situations like the one that got him injured.

    • @Mr_Iggy
      @Mr_Iggy 6 лет назад +24

      z2ei there have been multiple people that confirmed RG III demanding Mike and Kyle to transition him to a throwing passer. As a fan of the skins that was a terrible 2 seasons watching him try to play in the pocket. A bulk of his yardage came in garbage time and he was known for check downs especially the game when the back up RB Roy Helu had about 20 receptions.

    • @blueflameSM
      @blueflameSM 6 лет назад +17

      z2ei a majority of those injury were on RG3, he does not know when to go down on his runs. Think about it his first knee injury was on him for not going into a slide which is protection for the QB. RG3 was also reported to have forced himself onto the field with the injuries.

  • @damoortj
    @damoortj 6 лет назад +45

    It's amazing that a injury that would have most people walking with a cane is overlooked. This man destroyed a ACL after already having destroyed the other ACL in college. He had surgery to repair the ACL damaged in the playoffs by taking cartilage from the knee that was damaged in college. At the end if the day, RGIII is a competitor, and those who never played the game, you will never understand the competitiveness of athletes. The missing link that no one talked about is that the offensive line after the injury was horrific, and as a result, he was getting pounded when dropping back. Most importantly, the receivers were not getting separation consistently, and as a result, he had to put the ball down, and run. If sliding was a issue, time should have been put in TEACH!!!! You had a quarterback that was damaged goods, and should not have come back prior to the reaching the playoffs. They should have left Cousins in to allow RGIII's knee to heal more. They had no confidence in Cousins to do that. The media will not discuss this, or ask Shanahan why he left RGIII in the game when they were up 14-0 to the Seahawks after he visibly got hurt. The defense was on the feild too long in the second half because the quarterback couldn't move the ball with a bad wheel. He should have been taken out, and Cousins should have been put in to at least take more time off the clock. The defense was killing Seattle until they were gassed.

    What hurt RG3 is the fact that in that 2012 playoff game versus Seattle when they were ahead 14-0 Robert was out there limping around on a sprained knee but instead of taking him out of the game like any normal coach would have done Shanahan kept RG3 out there and late in the game Robert dropped back and planted his foot and all of a sudden that sprained knee turned into a torn ACL and PCL. So instead of being out a few weeks with only a sprained knee and having the rest of the offseason to get better Robert had reconstructive knee surgery and spent the entire offseason in rehab. To make matters worse Robert pushed himself too hard and Shanahan started him the first game of the next season although RG3 didn't play a single snap during the preseason so of course Robert struggled because he wasn't ready to return. Late that season once Robert started getting healthy Shanahan benched Robert the final 3 or 4 games of that season for no damn reason at all. Thanks for destroying the career of RG3 Shanahan....you freakin born loser.

    RGIII helped build the Clemson program into the machine that they are today. Nobody really mentions it, but when RGIII finally whipped the Oklahoma defense for Baylor’s first win ever over the Sooners, Bob Stoops made the historic decision that he needed help on the defensive staff. So Bob turned to his brother Mike, who had just been fired in Tucson, for defensive help in Norman. Brent Venables didn’t like it, so he bolted to Clemson. The rest is history as Brent V is now probably the best DC in the nation.

      He realized the hits in the NFL really hurt, he got injured and didn't want to pay the NFL price. He is good enough to be a backup, half of the backups can play 500 football with playoff teams. I suspect he has some of the same problems Kaepernick has in pricing himself out of the backup market, if he doesn't think the hits are worth backup money then he will never play again.

      You don't figure out the read option. The QB makes a good decision or he doesn't. You are using all 11 players so the offense us not playing down a man. The defense has to apply the proper attention just to slow it so you can play action off of it. It's not a trick and is really old.

    If anything I still think RG3 is good enough to be a career back up. He can hold down the fort for a few games if the starter should go down a while. Plus it would give him more years to develop and heal those old wounds. Perhaps in the future he could be a legit starter once again for a team with potential. He seems to have a good personality and would be a nice role model in the community even though his football role would be a back up.

    “RG 3 is always hurt”. So are most of the quarterbacks in the NFL. It’s rare that a QB finishes a season upright much less on the active list.
    Did the Washington line remind you of the “Great Wall of Dallas”? Did Cleveland? A QB is only as good as the team around him and the coaching staff. Pure drop back passer are rare now, the ones that exist have good receivers and great lines. Griffin didn’t Luck doesn’t.

    Mike Shanahan was a great coach, Dan Snyder didn’t let him lead the team… That RG3‘s parents went to their son’s job to regulate says a lot. RG3 is self inflated, picks were wasted on him even though he had an amazing 2012. Mike wanted another QB and Kirk Cousins to develop but Dan Snyder wasted picks and emotion on RG3. That Seattle playoff game, Kirk Cousins should’ve been out in as soon as RG3 was hurt.

    Mike is correct, RGIII wanted to become an instant drop back passer after his knee injury. If the dude had learned how to avoid a hit he never would have gotten hurt in the first place. Making himself an uncomfortable, stationary target with a bad knee didn’t do him any favors. If he had listened to Mike, he could have kept defenses off balance while learning the game. Instead, he chose to drop back in a pocket he knew nothing about, got destroyed repeatedly, and became another shell shocked David Carr.

For Griffin to refuse to change is asinine. Hey folks...have you forgotten that RG3 only slipped after he got seriously injured. Till then he was the next super-star quarterback, drop back or read option or whatever system they were going to implement...RG3 could have done any of it if he was healthy.
    The speakers in this video seem to understand that but they do not seem to grasp the extent of the effect of his injury. It was obvious that he was never the same after that injury.
    The same sad fate happened to Bo Jackson. Until he got seriously hurt he was so superior a player that it seemed like he was a MAN playing with boys...350 pound boys
    INJURY changes everything...so let's stop dissing RG3...HE WAS GREAT

    Drafting Cousins made this outcome inevitable. You underminded your credibility Mike when you drafted someone to play if he failed in Kirk. That was unnecessary and it caused the rope to begin to unravel before you even used it.

    • @scipio2009
      @scipio2009 6 лет назад +2

      Paul Wiltz Maximizing the draft asset. Kirk Cousins was a fourth round pick because he flashed some ability, but wasn't overly explosive and didn't have the giant arm. Still, you have three years to develop him behind a successful RG3, before then dealing a former 4th round pick for something of higher value (the 2015 NFL draft basically only had two QBs worth putting on a roster, both of whom went in the first two picks; any other team looking for consistent qb play would've inquired for Cousins).
      In a perfect world, RG3 would've stuck to the script, and Shanahan's read option would've likely morphed to something akin to the pistol PA that Manning basically used for his last years in Denver.
