Sharpe hit it well. When you intentionally try to injure somebody on the field you are a coward. You're saying your team can't compete against the opposition unless you injure them and take them out of the game. Diving at somebody's knees away from the play, stomping, knocking out a QB who is casually trailing an interception he just threw, these are all cowardly things. The game is better when everybody is healthy. The game is better when the players aren't worrying about somebody intentionally trying to injure them. Getting hit hard is one thing, diving at the knees of a player AWAY from the play should be immediate disqualification.
TheBanditBren I agree, and I'm a big Burfict / Bengals fan. I love Burficts game, but trying to end players careers is... yeah.

If the league implemented punishments for the teams and not just individually so, the Pac-Mans and Burficts and Suhs would not be so much of something to talk about, I guess. Coaching staffs wouldn’t allow this kind of behavior at all if it threatened their playoff chances or their opportunities to fare well in the drafts

My question now in 2018: why is he still in the NFL or at least on the bengals? First of all, he will go down as possibly one of dirtiest players of today’s NFL; second of all, his stats ain’t even that good; third, all he brings to the team is penalties (yea he gets all these fines, but what’s the final straw; he doesn’t seem to learn from these fines and suspensions; it’s like how you punish a kid in school: if he/she doesn’t learn after all these detentions and suspensions, you expel the kid)

I honestly think it's a real mental/anger issue that he has. Burfict has been dirty since high school, people in the Inland Empire/Los Angeles area who follow high school football know about his hisoiry of being dirty. High school, college, and still in the NFL, I don't think being fined or talked to by coaches is going to help when it's that deep of an issue.
