    Vontae did what most of us never do. He asked himself "Do I really want to do this?"
    We get pulled in by society into a job we don't like, a relationship that isn't fulfilling or a career we chose by necessity more than passion. This man broke the paradigma by actually asking himself his true will and I respect him for that.

      I agree, hes a 10 year plus veteran player, but after doing that he should expect that he will never be picked up by a team ever again, but I think he's ok with that for doing it in the way that he did. I really don't have a problem with what he did. Maybe he just had a epiphany and realized "Im done". In a sense its kind of respectable in that he didn't try to play another half that he didn't feel qualified to play. He probably could have waited til after the game just because of how it looks ,and some ppl wont stand for how he did it, but I personally don't have a problem with it , at all.

    Good move Vontae Davis. Football is nothing but a game. Your physical and mental health is the most important thing in the world. I applaud any man that thinks for himself. These owners have shown that they don't care about the players. You don't owe these clowns anything. You're free to leave whenever you want and only you know when you've had enough. Shannon sounds just them white folks. Go straight for the money. If the Cleveland Browns didn't give any refunds the last two years, leave Vintage alone.

He is going to very likely regret this and have his name trashed as the guy who retired and left the stadium before the end of the game. That is all.

    • @adamhart5330
      @adamhart5330 6 лет назад +4

      Nobody is saying "force" him to go out. Who is even thinking that? We are reacting to his choice with our own thoughts. I see this lack of logic with the anthem kneeling. I am not even going to take a side so my point here is taken without bias, nobody is saying FORCE the dudes to stand. Nobody can force you to do anything, no ones gonna come arrest you for quitting at halftime or kneeling for the anthem. You choose to do that and now you are dealing with the reaction. Your employer can choose to fire you and that is not being forced to do something either, they are not "forcing" you to do anything. If they choose to fire you, you can find something else. The only ones actually talking about force are people who want to force employers to employ someone they do not want to continue employing. You do not have some sacred right to do and say anything on the job, your 1st amendment rights protect you from the government not the actions of another private party. In fact if you demand an employer continue employing someone they don't want you are forcing the government to dictate the employers rights. Your job is between two private parties (You and the employer) that both have equal rights as far as the first amendment goes. If you can quit at anytime for any reason, I should be able to fire you at anytime for any reason. If you want something different than that it is called a contract and even then no one can force either party into some speech or action and you can break the contract, except now the one who breaks it will get rightfully sued.

    Looking back, years later, I don't have a problem with it. Here's why:
    1. He was a 10-year veteran, so earned the right to walk away. He had nothing left to prove.
    2. If he goes back out there, half-hearted, that's when he, or someone else, could get hurt
    3. He meant it. He didn't change his mind. He never played again, so it was the right decision.
    Now, is that the best way to retire? No, but when you know, you know.
    What it does is undermine his football legacy. People will remember him as the guy who left his team
