Changing the play speed to 1.25 trying to get to the point.
Speed reading to get to the point.
I think he addressed your mother somewhere around the 2 minute mark 🤔
@@CollectedWorx I think he covered yours in the first 30 seconds. I guess she really left an impression!
Good listen. Barrel problems are so frustrating. My first 6ARC barrel was a Rainier Arms 16" and I tried a lot to get it to shoot well. Way more $ in ammo than barrel... finally reached out about the 2.5 MOA barrel I had and they told me it was my buffer and/or gas rings on my JP bolt, even though it shot the same with gas turned all the way off... Long story but my replacement Odin barrel shoots great.
This is just my thoughts, however facts. Years ago I really enjoyed listening to Mike, Part Owner SOLGW talking on podcasts and other platforms about his company. The attention to detail and QC was first and foremost in his mind and words. As time went on, his words stayed the same and even got a little outspoken. I then got one of their guns and the #1 thing he spoke of was literally the issues with my personal gun. Gas block and rail were loose. Just little things and possible mishap? Working at a local shop and over the course of a year we got in around a dozen or just shy of transferred SOLGW guns. 7 out of those all had similar issues. 2 had barrel issues and got sent back. These were all new from factory rifles too. As much as I like the way they "talk" what they do, I simply seen the opposite. It's not a negative on them, just stating what I've seen. For that alone I go elsewhere.
I was the same. Liked hearing Mike talking about how SOLGW addresses reliability issues. My guess is that because a lot of retailers are carrying SOLGW now, their production numbers had to go way up. If not done correctly, quality will suffer.
@fubar1217 I hate say it as some of these guys are friends, but when they started marketing with their sponsored shooters and using their names and companies as marketing which is business, although that's when I think I personally started seeing the issues. Growth also does that, however from the ones that preach over and over QC and details it was disappointing.
I recently bought a SOLGW precision SPR barrel in 223 Wylde. I ordered it from BTO and sent it back because it had a number of QC issues. The indexing pin on the barrel extension has a lot of burrs. The gas port had a huge burr that was visible looking down the bore with the naked eye (it looked horrendous with a bore scope). The gas block also was not cut at the 12 'o clock but a few degrees clockwise. I emailed SOLGW with photos and they never responded.
@dbraz5 Is BA still cutting their barrels? They are on all their barrels but the new ones, I assume so, but still no 100% either way, they preach QC over everything is what's rather disappointing
@@chaoticcaninejb I can't confirm that it's BA who makes the type of barrel I ordered. Someone commented on this video that there's another manufacturer for SOLGW's 3-grooved barrels.
Lucky I got a Proof barrel I guess. Thanks Wade, good info as always.
Are they still Ballistic Advantage barrel rebranded?
Not to join the hate train here, but I've purchased two of the SOLGW SPR barrels in different calibers and I don't think I'll be getting anymore. I'll go back with old faithful which are the Criterion barrels for me.
I played the cheaper game and went with a Proof stainless barrel and wow it's awesome
Went the same route as you on the PR ss but I wouldn't call it the cheap game at all. Mines 16".
Assuming he means the proof was in the end cheaper by not wasting a bunch of ammo on a cheaper barrel you can’t get to group.
I have a 12.5 centurion barrel and an 18 inch Noveske barrel, im looking also to build a 14.5 proof and they are not where to be found in carbon fiber. If you do ever get them in I'll take one
I tryed a rosco 14.5 and was having case head separations on new brass, after I seen it. I sent it back to them with a whole write up of how bad the head space was with specs. they were great to work with and I will try another of there 6arc barrels one day, it shot fantastic even with the huge chamber.
That’s interesting. I just built a rifle with a 14.5 Rosco 6mm ARC barrel, and it shoots great, no issues to note yet. I’m about 150 rounds in with factory 108 ELD-M. This is my third Rosco barrel and they have all been fantastic and very accurate. Glad to hear their customer service is good. Definitely want to try out one of their 20” barrels next.
@@jonblair2327mine liked the 108s the best too I got one of their first limited runs they probably have every thing fixed now I want to try another one thinking about going to a 16” after I sent that barrel back I ordered a craddock RTR 14.7 and it hammers with my hand Loads and the white box hornady! 58 vmax running 3120 out the 14.7 at around that 1/2 inch group mark sometimes a little more
Had a Rosco with the roughest chamber I've ever seen. They were great about swapping it out, and I waited about a month to get a replacement. Second one came with the same exact issue. Rendered the brass totally unable to be reloaded. Gave up after the second strike.
When was this? I haven't seen any of those in stock in awhile. I get your frustrations for sure, if they didn't make this better than right I'd be very surprised. In a sample size of about 12 rifles, I have always gotten good specs, and accurate for what they were. Both bought and built. I haven't tried the new precision barrels yet, but have only heard they were shooters. I'll be interested to see how long it takes to get back to you.
I ordered a 14.5 6arc Solgw barrel from BTO too. Same issue.
Solgw had me a a new barrel in a week. BUT 6Arc was out of stock so they offered me an equivalent barrel in 6mm MAX.
So basically it’s a conspiracy lol
😂
Wade, I couldn’t find a video about your experience with 24 nosler. If you do any more 6 max content feel free to compare to the 24 nosler as well.
But, but, but, the berm thumpers tell me SOLGW is quality QC!!! I'm no expert, but social media rules the berm blaster. Absolutely nothing against SOLGW, but wasaay to many people assume that since some companies parts are better, that all of them are.
With 6.5 Grendel at least, I don't recommend opening gas ports more than spec, although some companies have run undersize ports.
12" CLGS runs great with .068".
16" & 18" MLGS run fine with .076" ports.
20" RLGS runs fine with .094"
Basically follow 5.56 port sizes/locations.
Some companies have run .094" ports on MLGS 18", and those are hard to get to run without a RifleSpeed AGB.
Same thing happened to me with a centurion arms barrel. It sucks spend money and nobody wants to admit it.
Thanks!
It's not the first time I hear about sons of liberty's barrels being shit!!! School of the American rifle has a video on a barrel from son's of Liberty
I like the school of American riffle channel. That guy has so much knowledge....
Have you ever tested a 13.7” 6arc barrel?
Nope
Wow - thanks for this data point. I always try to buy everything from USA. Even when it’s Trijicon vs HoloChinaSun and I pay extra for my decision. I also always try to buy Texas - like LaRue s ope mounts when there are cheaper alternatives. But now I am striking SOL off my list and I was fixen ready too buy a rifle or 2 from them. With 4 shitty chambers ona sample size of 4 - I won’t be even considering them - plus you added they never answer emails so that’s more dirt on their coffin. Thanks again for some truth as that’s a rare commodity theses days.
Doesn't Ballistic Advantage make SOLGW's barrels?
No idea
I’d be very surprised if SOLGW doesn’t make this right. No clue about the email response issue but they are a stand up company. As always I appreciate the content. Keep it up!
Were they the solgw spr profile 3r polygonal rifling barrels? I was just about to order a 14.5" 6max from big tex! 😂
I’ll have to go back and look .
I'm pretty sure black hole weaponry builds their spr profile barrels... not to many companies use that type of rifling...
@@sethperry1323 Yes, it's BHW doing their recent "precision" barrels.
I returned a SOLGW .223 Wylde 3r SPR barrel about a month ago because it looked like shit. I reached out to SOLGW about several major QC issues. No response.
I sent this to Mike Mihalski. See if you hear anything
SOLGW spams the hell out of armslist. Drives me crazy. Won’t buy from them because of that.
Give 6.5 Outfitters aka Rexus Arms a chance, their 6 arc barrels are good. Priced amazingly and I'm getting 1 MOA or better with Hornady Black with the 18" barrel and their bolt.
The Rexus UltraBolts are the way to go for sure. SixFive Outfitters is one of the few with economy priced barrels I would ever consider.
I've built at least 4 Grendels with them. I'm normally a barrel snob, so I have a lot of Bartlein, Lilja, & Criterion barrels.
I did 2x 12" Grendels with SixFive Monster logo barrels in 2017, one for me, one for a friend.
I shoot that little 12" more than anything, though I take my 17.6" Lilja and 18" LaRue along with it most of the time.
I made a 1st-round hit with the 12" Grendel at 900yds on 2 MOA steel, which is crazy. That's with a 1-6x24 LPVO too, using the tree reticle.
There is no way to even contact them. Been trying since August.
@@djmcdonald5508 Are you thinking about SixFive Arms?
Maybe I have just been lucky, but I have bought a bunch of different brands of barrels and haven't had any real trouble from any of them. BCA, TRYBE, Tactical Kinetics, Palmetto State Armory, Anderson, Diamondback, Ruger, Faxon, Wilson Combat all have been plenty accurate for hunting. I'm of the old school thought that it's not worth paying big money just to have the "popular" name on my equipment. Some of my best bargain cheap barrels actually shoot the best.
Im beginning to wonder if Fitzy died and your covering it up.
I have his body because he never answered my email about buying his mini fix Valk barrel
Datum line
🤟🏻
Fitzy got da boot didnt he, damn boy is a gone er.
Try picking up a phone and calling? its weird to me that people don't directly communicate over a phone verus emails, It might be a generational thing, But if I want to get something handled quickly and effectively I pick up a phone, and I am aware that a lot of the big companies are using the automation, its cheaper to let computers do the work, but I assume SOLGW is a smaller company and they still have people picking up phones,.....On another note, half inch MOAs is a problem I wish I had to deal with.
Called , got voicemail.
Email has paper trail.
Where is fitzy
Last I heard he was in the Swiss alps.
@godscountry4683 no longer an employee apparently.
@@godscountry4683 he runs Ally Outdoors now. Just doesn’t have time any more to make it out to Munitions. I’ve actually mentioned this many times.
The mic boom in front of the camera is distracting
big black mic
It’s fixed now.
It definitely is bullshit they cant answer any of your emails. Ive heard waaaay too many mixed reviews on their stuff to buy anything. They do nothing special or even remotely innovative for me to spend my money or faith on their stuff being what they claim.
@@revolutionanarchy713 I'm with you on that!!!
Always been good to me and always gotten good communication back. Sorry to hear you've had bad experiences.
Same here. Always very responsive to my questions.
Just curious bc you seemed upset? Does the core butthurtness come from the fact the Eras tour is canceled in Red states?
Good grief get on with it. That was a 5 minute discussion that took 30
Don’t laugh but BCA makes pretty good barrels. They are accurate and with in spec. I know a lot of people will thumb their noses at that company, but me and my friends use them for our night rigs and honestly we haven’t had one shoot over 3/4 of an inch. That’s not bad as far as grouping goes and we shoot about 500 rounds a year through each barrel and we are working on 4 years and haven’t lost accuracy. As far as a budget brawler upper to assemble that might not be a bad alternative especially since they too make 6 ARC barrels and yes those barrels shoot good as well (first year with the ARC barrel and about 200 rounds down the pipe and good sub moa results).
@@craesh1001 BCA is absolute trash... if you got a decent one consider yourself lucky! I wouldn't recommend that company to my worst enemy... I have a picture on my phone they uploaded to Facebook of their "assembly line". You will see a guy putting on a barrel nut but he was using a wrench with a 2ft cheater pipe hanging off the back!! An it looks like he has a bottle of red loctite next to him 🤯
I've had the same experience with BCA. I have a 10.5" 7.62x39 upper I got about 5 years ago, heavy as hell but very accurate. Two years ago bought a buddy of mine a 16" 350 Legend upper. Had a rough chamber and didn't want to extract and eject properly. Sent it in and they polished the chamber and got it right back to me. Shoots great ever since.
I’ll pass on their products
ruclips.net/video/mPapycHNwBI/видео.htmlsi=KJLxv6viGueU7d_6. Were they talking about you in this podcast?!
Ogive???
Nope, ogive is a point on the pullet. Where the bullet starts to taper to a point.
Remember all of the teeth gnashing over TRIARC's barrels awhile back? Seems to me that there is no perfect manufacturer of barrels, that everyone puts out a dud or two. Shit happens, we're humans after all.
I’ve come to realize over the years allot of “problems “ are end user induced. However , you are correct things do slip out because people make mistakes.
