Ranking Destiny 2’s Strongest DPS Metas
HTML-код

- Have you ever wondered what the best DPS option would be if every nerf was undone? What if Throwing Hammers had Banner of War? What if quickswapping slugs was done using Surrounded and Rain of Fire? How do today’s rockets stack up against last year’s Sleeper? As a Beyond Light player, I was never around to experience Swarm of the Raven and auto-loading Lunafactions, so this video was something I’ve been wanting to make for a while. Today, we’ll attempt to answer this long-standing question: if we could compare every DPS meta in Destiny 2’s history in today’s sandbox, what would win?

this aged well
“Weapon Craft Glitch has entered the chat”
I think something forgotten was how Buffs and Debuffs used to stack, so I think a future comparison could having all of the old stacking rules included with what we have now (eg. well + bubble + empowering melee + tether + surges + Foe for older metas)
The forsaken year was unhinged 😂 shit was so broken fun asf but so broken
It wasn't forgotten as it was shown on screen for some combos.
Miss melting point + bubble in d1
@@oNextqseason or the drifter was one if the funniest just because of that. Well + empowering melee + infinite nova bombs + infinite tether
You’re doing incredible work for both yourself and the community. Thank you. It is greatly appreciated

I think the other big thing for swarm of the raven was spike nades, it didn’t matter what other perks it had as long as it had that.
Yeah of course I kind of glazed over that thinking it was implied since it's not a standard damage perk
Throwing hammer was genuinely one of the most fun things I ever messed around with. Shield bash was also fun but it felt more fun to chain the abilities infinitely with Hoil instead.
Double slug anarchy quick swapping was my favorite. I really wish they would bring that back as an option.
You can still quickswap slugs
@@jonahbrown5669 you can swap back and forth between 2 slugs. that's not quickswapping
@@jonahbrown5669 Not as easy as it used to be. I know it can be done with ophidians or dragon shadow but it used to be available on all classes without an exotic.
you can just run heritage and nessa's with reconstruction. just fire all heritage, fire all nessas, repeat
@@blufferoniandcheese3628 That's boring. Learning to quick swap and executing it felt cool.
Literally one of the best channels in the community, well done!
I love how in-depth you go with these for theorycrafters and others alike like me. I've been coming back to this constantly over the past 1-2 months, hopefully you keep updating it
One thing to note about Swarm of the Raven is that it was meta at a time period where it was an aggressive frame, and not rapid fire frame. Going into Season 10, they changed all aggressive frame heavy GLs into rapid fire frames, and removed the aggressive frame archetype for heavy GLs. They did this because aggressive frames had the rate of fire of rapid fire frames, but had the damage of adaptive frames. This meant there was no reason to use rapid fire or adaptive frame heavy GLs.
Yep that's why I used the rapid fire rate numbers but the scaled Swarm damage :P thanks for the insight
Slight correction: Rapid fire frames entirely never existed until the nerf. Meaning there was only Adaptive and Aggresive
I really appreciate the work and testing you do. With how vague destiny is with "weapon impact" instead of actual numbers and "boost weapon damage" without shown percentages to weird rounding and boss coding and everything in between, its very helpful and important to know how and why the damage is what it is in game. You've done an incredible job helping understand the stuff bungie never explains.
This is super well made. I appreciate your dedication and attention to all the right details you made in this video
Dude you have such a great style of content that nobody else even comes close to, watching you go from niche community member to growing youtuber is awesome
This video was very nostalgic. Thank you for bringing me back and spending all the time u did on this video. You after the few videos I've seen are my favorite destiny content creator.
This channel is absolutely gold. Thank you so much for posting
Really appreciate how in depth you go with your vids keep it up bro
Loved the video, your format, explanation style and voice make your videos so nice and easy to watch. Thanks for being the GOAT of the D2 end game
You and Llama are my absolute favorite d2 youtubers rn you guys are killing it keep it up i love these vids
I miss the melee builds so much.
Some things that might change the values a bit that came into mind:
-Pre-nerf 1-2 punch was 4.5x damage against boss combatants for your melee.
-There was a bug where you could swap from Wormgod Caress to Synthoceps and keep both of their damage buffs at the same time.
-There was another bug that allowed you to "Two-Four Punch" where if you shot 2 1-2 punch shotguns fast enough after each other they would stack and gives a 20.25x damage boost to bosses.
-IIRC Banner of War doesn't work with throwing hammer right now (but before the "ranged melee" changes it would work with it just as 1-2 punch doesnt work with hammer right now but it used to in the past).
-Pre-Shadowkeep but after Warmind, weapon buffs stacked mutiplicatively infinitely so with the current sandbox and previous sandboxes mixed with all the different types of buffs their damage would be astronomically higher.
-When released, Witherhoard would instakill bosses on occasion if 6 people shot the boss at the same time, doing seemingly infinite damage.
-When released Winterbite would do around 2 million DPS if you Alt+F4 as it was reaching a target.
-When released, if 6 Shadebinder Warlocks did their right click super attack on a frozen at the same time it would instantly kill them doing seemingly infinite damage.
-When released, Blight Ranger had a bug where you could transfer its 6.5x damage to weapons.
i think banner of war does work with thrown melees, 1-2 is the buff that doesn't currently stack with them
Okay this is too much cooking help
I started playing since Destiny 1 - played Destiny 2 since release, pausing for a few months here or there, and my favourite meta was the quick swapping of eater of worlds. It felt like driving a manual car - lots of buttons to press and get right to do it correctly. Good fun! Also wanted to point out how godly you are with that many raid clears - my most cleared raid was Prestige Leviathan at 38 clears!
Came from the first stream you did on making this vid nice work brother
Appreciate all your hard work 💜 great vid
Great video kinda knew that would be at the end.
Bro I love your vids, they're so informative keep it up :D
sick video totally forgot about izanagis nerfs very good trip down memory lane
Your content is a dream for nerds like me, thank you for doing such great work for the community
200% amazing video its so good to see as a new player
I remember the days when you would shoot a rocket at the ground right under the boss’s feet and the cluster bombs would give it crazy damage
10:00 so glad to see some bili bili acknowledgement.
This was a fun trip down memory lane
thank you for this nostalgic ride❤️
As someone that has been playing since D1 Dark Below huge respect for starting at beyond light and understanding the game so well you put in the work fr
A true gamer right here
I think it the fact that all you had to do was stick something with anarchy and spam fire mountaintop in a well with really insanely good ammo efficiency allowing use against literally anything in the game that made it my all time most busted loadout. It was better than everything else and better by a mile.
I’d be interested in hearing about the recent crafting bug. Wouldn’t call it a “meta” exactly, because of how short it was. But i’d be interested in learning the math on some of those, like aggressive frame retrofit escapade.
Yeah I might add it to the sheet
This is pretty awesome. Im a smidge sad you forgot liars handshake
I think either a video about, or a column ranking ease of use for some of the better damage rotations would be pretty cool. It'd be sweet to find an lfg (especially sherpas), judge their skill from the opening, then suggest damage loadouts based on that.
Also I wanna do good damage, but I only want to sweat a little ;P
Yeah there's something coming down the pipeline for that :)
Been watching for a minute and can say that I trust you with your evidence it has help me become a better player
Thank you for the great work! Truly increadible
Holy shit dude, as a casual this is all so fascinating to me. Really helps me understand what we are truly capable of in this game, even if i may never execute one of these rotations with a reliable fireteam. I'll just stick to good ol'ghally, well, and rockets, and go for that reliable two - three phase lol. But great job man, i love your passion for this and i hope you see much success.
new Aegis video the day is saved
who is going to tell him about the new crafting glitch?
Aegis has quickly become a combination of Ehroar numbers and builds, and Datto “new vid new personality for the month”
great video!
I remember getting izanagis burden catalyst around the same time I got enhanced sniper loader. It was one of my favorite weapons
Ah I remember hearing about the Swarm of the Raven strats for Gahlran, but never got around to doing the raid.
Good memories of the Guillotine shenanigans though. Throw on Oppressive Darkness, equip Witherhoard + Gnawing Hunger + Guillotine, and its the Season of Arrivals special haha. Looked like a field of purple dots showing up on Io during Contact. Then it got nerfed, Beyond Light launched and The Lament said "Round 2".
Good times.
I have been trying to get a god roll Swarm of the Raven from Iron banner this entire week just to honour it's legacy. Also you forgot the Outbreak Perfected meta when rift/barricade auto loading was still a thing. Swarm + Outbreak was a popular combo back then because Swarm did massive heavy damage and Outbreak as a primary used to easily do a few million points of damage pretty quickly.
surprised that none of the old starfire protocol rotations made the list tbh, they were pretty crazy for a while.
Starfire from Haunted until nerf was actually vastly overrated, you can check my damage rotation ranking video for more details on that
from my understanding, starfire was never good burst damage. it was infinite total damage. it let you keep going and dumping rockets and high damage grenades basically forever. that's not really needed now, due to insane rocket power creep
@@TheAegisRelicthis
@@TheAegisRelicyou’ve been right about everything EXCEPT this comment.
@@deadchannelfrom2018i mean, he's not wrong. Total damage was in theory, infinite, however the DPS of it was absolute trash. The only reason it was even viable in DPS rotations is because demo would allow you to substitute reloads with a little bit extra damage. On its own though, it was terrible.
Great video keep it up
This was a fun blast to the past
I've been playing since day 1 d1 and oh boy this made me happy
Double slugs was so fun i miss it
Jesus Christ the last two are beyond lore accurate
Great video! Do you think you could add how long a each boss dps phase lasts on the boss section of the spreadsheet?
I might
I miss the volatile thing with retrofit, was alot of fun
I guess power creep when it comes to dps rotations isn’t that bad seeing all these crazy options from the past 😅
this has to be the best endgame channel on here
do you have a video planned for crota's end dps, or one that covers dps on some options like surrounded bequest and the cataphract?
Yep wait for tomorrow
@@TheAegisRelic the 🐐
man this makes me miss all the fun metas we had
Its pretty crazy everytime i hear something considered “old” and going “wait i did that!” I’m finally aging xd. I’ll give a sub for the cool calculations.
izanagi is my favorite exotic on the knetic slot outside of outbreak and d1 mytho, i guess you know where my oppinion sits regarding of which dps meta was my favorite
Wake up babe, new Aegis video
ive been here since the last third of season of the hunt, i only just got duality before it ended, things changed a lot
The scientific mind you demonstrated in constructing this video is amazing. Please keep it up.
Surprisingly, Thunderlord did have its time as one of the best! It was very short, though. After Festival of the Lost during Season of the Forge, it was on top with Hammerhead (the only 2 machine guns at the time), SOLELY because of its ammo and being heavy, along with pre-nerf Lunafaction Boots/Rally Barricade. This was before Thunderlord was buffed to proc lightning bolts more frequently years later. But it quickly ended once more people started acquiring Swarm of the Raven, Anarchy, Whisper, Sleeper and other better options and strats were found
Yeah from what I understand it had a very brief stint and people quickly found better options
Hi aegis,ur vids are insane.
2man vog is fun
Oppressive darkness + lucent blades on falling guillotine was god tier
The way you pronounce Cold Comfort is so satisfying
This is nostalgia in a video
Right before sunset. Trophy Hunter vorpal triple tap was the shit
Anarchy and 1k/fusion rifle meta were nutty
One weak after we get this video we now have a shift in the list lol
This video needs to be updated
Hahaha
You’re gonna need to add the craftening to this list
remember when whisper had infinite ammo? most chill dps meta, just point and click forever
Did you forget that at the time of Double Slugarchy Vorpal was a solid buff across the board?
Sorta weird how so many different buffs made it into this video except warlock empower melee was excluded.
I was bound to miss something :sob:
I think we can safely say the Craftening was the strongest DPS meta of all time now. xD
Just wondering if you ever checked the original whisper of the worm dmg. Obv the total dmg is infinite so was just curious how it would have played out
Couldn't find great reference numbers but it's decent not mindblowing
i wanna see aegis reaction when he figured out hammer dmg could have been so high
-Warlock exclusive sword
-Banner of War
!galaxybrain
Also, hot take… They need to bring back a bunch of old seasonal mods for Final Shape. Classy Restoration, Particle Deconstruction, Solo Operative, etc
Banner of War applies to teammates in radius :)
@@TheAegisRelic Ok my bad
lol solo op is back
Any chance we could get a deeper dive of sword dps choices in video form ?
I've talked about it extensively on stream and other content creators have used my data to make videos but if it's really in high demand I might
So, has OP throwing hammer been usurped from number 1 by aggressive shotgun frame heavy grenade launchers?
Nah hammers were way stronger sadly haha
A BANGER
Offended the goat lament wasn’t in this. Truly such a awesome and epic sword, I remember shredding atrax nonstop
Not a universally strong damage option
GS w Stareater then quick swap to luckypants malfeasance with recon bipod apex is one of my favorites
Another absolutely brilliant video from my favourite destiny nerd, loved every second of it and can't wait for more
The piss break really paid off
What about the well um, retrofit escapade x shotgun glitch, does like 1.2 billion dmg per mag
interesting how you started playing post beyond light, havent heard of many players like that, especially during beyond light, considering ALOT of people thought the game was dramatic atp in time
I wish I was there when triple GL swap was a thing man that shit looks so fucking fun to do 😭
Wasn't Thunderlord pretty passable way, way back in Forsaken before they nerfed MG boss damage, when Lunafactions continuously reloaded? I remember it ate a pretty fat nerf, and other options weren't that great back then. It was probably notably better than circa-RoN Thunderlord at least.
Passable yes but noteworthy no
Most people don’t know this but Aegis is actually just an AI we use to put out Destiny 2 information.
Man I miss the s14 slug/gl/anarchy meta
Your fhe absolute pinnacle of DPS testing. Your like the esoterickk of DPS
what about 2-4 punch when you could stack 2 one-two punch shotguns(also when you could have wormgod's carress x5 and swap to synthos)
If u run izy, gl, apex rotation isnt empty vessel better than wilderflight cuz u get the solar surges for it aswell ?
Nah double fire frame is more, check my DPS Decoded series for numbers
@@TheAegisRelic alright thanks mate
I miss the swarm days in the menagerie
Syntho/Wormgods swapping and the peregrine ledge tech would have made some of those later ones so gross with Banner of War
For real
I’d say anarchy mountaintop when Lunas had auto loading was easily top 3
You forgot Silkstrike with Star Eaters when Strand debuted, I think that DPS was more powerful than Berserker if I’m being honest.
Man I miss old rally barricade + 4th horseman
