  • In the Boston's inner city neighborhoods of Roxbury, Mattapan, and parts of Dorchester there was a unique urban street culture taking place. Boston is not known for it's contributions to hip hop and street culture but I don't think that's fair. #boston #black #gangster #gang #hiphop #urban #projects #hood #rap #bostonhoods #roxbury

Thanks brothah I appreciate that very much! I know people don’t realize for a short period Boston was as dangerous as any other city but especially in those neighborhoods. And I remember a lot of guys from the 80s we’re getting out of prison in the mid 2000’s mixing with the younger dope boys and things starting popping off again. Thanks again for the comment 🙏

Facts lol Blackhawks hats are so dope. I had a purple and black on I used to wear daily. Boston was insane in the 90s, I was in Somerville which wasn’t like Dorchester but there would be multiple fights a day! I was like 6 years old fighting little racist kids lol. They would call me when some little kid was bothering my older cousins and friends. All they had to do was give me some candy and I was whooping anyone 😂. My cousin taught me how to use a headlock and I rarely lost a fight. They would be swinging and I would just jump up and grab their neck. Walking them around by their neck lol. Very effective move!

Yo! You took me back! What was so crazy was how gangs would be across the street from each other, so most of them went to the same high school. I remember how you couldn’t be caught “perpetrating”, meaning you couldn’t mix and match brands, like wearing Nike and Adidas at the same time, and in my neighborhood you couldn’t wear Nike at all. It had such an impact on me that I still rock my dogs to this day. 3 for the stripes!

Growing up in Boston in the 80s & 90s we never thought of being "white". You were either Italian, Irish, black, Puerto Rican, German, Portuguese etc. The white brand came from outside of Boston usually from the media around the millennium or so.

Love your videos! One topic suggestion: Since you have a lot of newcomers to your channel, maybe a full retelling of Whitey Bulger’s story, but also with a primer on the rackets (what are number games, how did bookmaking work), and a rundown on organized crime and corruption. Your story telling is so good that I feel like I get to understand really well *why* these groups respond with violence in different ways, or how it’s because there were these rules and expectations of behavior *why* the consequences for certain things would be a certain way. Anyways, I think a lot newcomers to your channel but haven’t heard the whole Whitey story, especially not as well as you could tell it. A “beginner friendly” style script would really make the numbers! Thanks again for your great videos! 👍🏽

I don’t think middle school kids on the North Shore were wearing starter jackets because of the gang culture in Boston… Starter jackets and shark tooth hats was a huge trend all over the United States… Athletes wore these jackets in commercials.. starter sponsored the NFL. It was a huge craze. To be honest, I don’t remember anything as popular as those jackets… And the cool thing about those jackets were everyone had a different sports team because you were lucky enough to get your hands on whichever one was available at the store.

Castle Gate at one point wore Chicago Bears and few others. The Hoyas was dudes from Georgetown Projects who use to wear that its obv why. We use to use black sharpies to black out the city of the fitteds to rep our sets. For example (since you brought them up lol) Orchard Park wore Portland Trailblazers they would black out all letters except the OR and black out the leg of the R so it said OP Trailblazers. It then became a problem cuz one gang would be leaving and run into their opps coming in to take a pic randomly and it would be smoke right there 😂 Alot of passes were given there cuz the location was hot police-wise/downtown and everyone was away from their hood 😂 In hindsight, looking back, that owner was promoting fights and gang culture which wasn't a good thing lol. That’s a good idea I never thought to check and see if there’s old footage of cops Boston out there. I wouldn’t be able to use it unless I pay for it and I don’t pay for anything!! Lol but it would be fun to just watch it that show was crazy me and all my friends would watch it together in the early 90’s 🤣

    Can't believe I believe I survived that s***.
I moved back and forth from Murderpan to Dorchester to Eastie where I was the only so called "Black" kid in the Orient heights project in Eastie. No problems till I moved to the South End (Hornets)around my so-called people😂.
Literally had a walk through 18 gangs to get to Middle School (Dearborn) in high school (Madison Park). First time gun in my face eighth grade this punk from Orchard Park (homework) 2nd 9th grade. So I don't want to hear s*** about bullying that was over homework and then picking up my friends tab. The p**** always got us in trouble.
Was rolling with Little Goya for a little bit, by 10th grade I ended up with the Asian kids in Ghost Shadows from New York.
And yes I was flagging in the wrong colors for my hood but they became family after 10 years. The military was literally safer then being at home. Now the area is full of hipsters and drug addicts and I moved to the country 😂 they can't have that s***
But The Pan it's always going to be my home 💙
