Fair too, my bff and co-d on murder case went in front of him on a gun case, gurus dad lambasted the lying cop. Guru went to real good private schools, like clarence on 8 mile. Advent on beacon hill and either beaver day or g&n. Then i remember watching rap city one day and who do i see guru with gangstarr posse. Then got w premier, hands down best that ever did it and the rest is history.
Great narration as usual. I was born in Roxbury in1947. And spent most of of my childhood in Roxbury, at the Orchard Park and Mission Hill projects, then moved to Fields Corner and Neponset (Port Norfolk). Things weren't nearly as bad as the days you report on...but I can relate. Thanks for your diligent work and videos.
Thank you once again for a job well done. I love your humble attitude and great respect you show in all your content. I remember our city during these turbulent times. These were the darkest days. I’ll never forget when they stormed Morning Star Baptist on Blue Hill Ave. I knew then our city had took a turn for the worst. The church was always so sacred. The OG’s would never… however the younger gangs could care less. I’ll never forget little Tiffany Moore getting shot on that mailbox. I lived in these neighborhoods during that time. I honestly walked through a war zone everyday. No one ever bothered me, but boy was I close to the fire. I had friends n family lost to these street wars. I never knew how bad it was until I watched your content. Please continue to tell these stories. The younger folks need to know what we lived through back in the day.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏 I really appreciate your comments your always so articulate and I feel I get a sense of your personality through them. Thank you again for all your kind words I’m glad that my attempt at humility comes through to you I really do enjoy talking about these sometimes controversial issues but I try to be respectful and tread lightly . I can’t imagine what it must have been like I try imaging bringing my daughter to the bus stop with shots going off no way for any child to live. That is a big part of why I do this I don’t want this history to be lost. Things are changing so fast I feel like I could blink and something will be gone, I’m doing my part to keep this stuff alive. Thank you again so much for your kind words and support so greatly appreciated 🙏🙏
@@jasontrimmins8264 We love n appreciate the way you “tread lightly”…. but still manage to “go in”. Your humbleness allows you to bridge the two without offense. There will always be haters n those easily offended. However I believe they will always be outnumbered by those of us who love, appreciate n need to hear the history of our city. No one else stepped up to the plate.
@@callmecarmella Wow thank you so much really that means a lot to me. I wasn't sure how people were going to react when I started this channel I really put myself out there my name and everything. But I feel the same way nobody was doing it and the city is changing so fast. I don't want the city that I grew up knowing my Dad, grandparents I don't know it means a lot to me. Boston and the area is very dear to me thank you for acknowledging what I'm trying to do here your support means the world!! Have an absolutely beautiful week!!
you do awesome work bro. I'd bet this channel is gonna blow up and get the audience it deserves soon. It's refreshing not hearing about "whitey"when Boston gangland is covered.
I know that’s the whole reason I started this channel they were all telling the story wrong! I really hope it blows up we’ve doubled our subs in the past month please spread the word. I’m on a mission!!
It’s so crazy to hear this breakdown on the hood and the project/street alliances cuz for me it was just normal and natural and the bonds that were once strongly built back in the day are now broken due to the youth and the worst part about this all is that everyone’s related to someone from a rival hoods💯
Great video man. Im up on the N.Shore, but use to skip school in the early 90s to go play Madden for $$ up on Blue Hill. Only dudes we ever had issues with were the "GoyaBoyz"& "ABZ" ALL the time . We weren't involved in the gang politics so all the dudes on the hill always took care of us. Definitely crazy days back then man. Glad to see you covering it man!
Thanks brothah I appreciate the commment 🙏 that’s wild you used your play Madden for money on Blue Hill Ave I thought I heard it all but still to this day I can be surprised! I appreciate that 💯
Lemme start off by saying: I’d usually have a problem with someone from outside of the hood and culture, commenting on it etc, but I actually appreciate the way this Cat approaches the subject with care, thoroughness and respect. The comment about the perception of why there aren’t many big name Hip-Hop acts out of Bean is spot on. I speak from experience, being from an underground Hip-Hop group outta Roxbury, back in the late 80’s-90’s. I grew up on Hutchings Street (one of the “H-Block” streets associated with Humboldt) in the 80’s. I’m 48 and I moved to Tent City at age 15. I was actually outside shortly before Darlene Tiffany Moore was killed (Bless Her Soul). The mailbox is on the corner of Homestead and Humboldt Ave (a fact that only those in the know, know.) So many years later, one of our well known locals named Bernard was killed on that same corner, just across the street (Bless His Soul). I even got into some sh!t on that corner myself back in the day. Side note: there was a “Junior Humboldt” gang that I was somewhat being recruited to join but opted out. I’m grateful to have survived and to have a clear retrospective view on the ‘hood sh!t that I grew up with. There are a few important things to name when talking about Boston ‘hood sh!t, for example: differentiating between which hoods were in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan and Jamaica Plain etc for example. It’s also important to frame that the ‘hoods throughout the U.S in general are not only a result of poverty etc, but the overall legacy of slavery and disenfranchisement of Black, Brown and poor folks. I’ll sign off by saying again that I salute this Cat @jasontrimmins8264 again for his efforts and I’ll be keeping an eye on his channel. 🫡👊🏾 1L
Thank you very much for that comment! I can’t tell you much it meant to hear you say something like that. Thank you for taking the time to write out such a well spoken response to the video I made. This is exactly the response I was hoping to illicit from someone who actually lived this in real life. I really just have always been incredibly interested in the whole situation watching it, growing up outside Boston. Thank you for seeing that I mean no harm or disrespect I’m just trying to accurately describe a unique situation that was transpiring in the city that maybe a lot of people weren’t aware of previously. Thank you again so much I can’t express how grateful I am that you took the time to write that comment and for your support. Have a blessed 2024🙏

This video is very accurate about the lack of information out there. I grew up in Highland Black Hawk territory and the rival neighborhood was and is Orchard Park. It’s rare that I hear about all the murders that went on back then. The Highland Ave gang has been around since the 1960’s.
@@jasontrimmins8264 I made a typo I meant to say the 60’s and not 1969. This is tricky. One of the founders was a big drug dealer in the 60’s-80’s and retired a wealthy man. He and his family own many businesses in the neighborhood and try to remain low key. He’s considered a legend and to my knowledge is the only one still left from that time. Everyone from the 90’s and 2000’s are still around and possibly willing to speak
Hey Jay, you should do a story about the lil girl that got killed summer of 01'-02' (Roxbury) 2yrs old & the 2 clowns that were behind it ended up in NC. 1got killed & 1 put in a chair or so I've heard.
It certainly is thank you for commenting I’m glad you enjoyed it! It’s obvious why no one documents it, because it so intricate and confusing to someone from the outside
Loving your videos. I grew up in Dorchester up until I was 17 in 2001 when my mother decided it was her last chance to try to get me out of Boston to stay out of trouble ...ya that didn't work moving to Quincy wasn't far enough lol. I grew up in Savin Hill which was nice but a few minutes down the street it was so different and going to Boston Public Schools they all were horrible. Things were so different growing up in Boston back than. We had a lot of fun and learned a lot of life lessons. Miss those days.
Me too! I was born in 82 that's why I started making these videos Boston and eastern Mass were so much different then, everything is changing so fast it's like everything is just going to be forgotten. I feel bad for my kids growing up back then was so fun no devices or social media, we used to ride bikes hang out a parks and basketball courts, just doing kid stuff. Yeah stuff happened but that's part of life and how people learn like you said. Thanks for the comment glad you found the channel.
I remember hearing about all the violence in Boston back then . My family is from the north end but by this time everyone moved to places like Andover and Tewksbury around there . This is a fascinating story . Wow great work on this some obscure stuff .
Thanks I really appreciate you recognizing that it wasn’t easy to put together. So much information and for someone who didn’t grow up there it was hard to wrap my head around. Thanks again brothah have a great weekend 🙏

Being from Somerville/Malden/Cambridge area… when I would go across the bridge to Dorchester/Roxbury, it felt like a different world. You can feel the tension in those areas. So much death and any second something might go off!
It is like a separate world from The rest of the city and area that’s what I was trying to stress to people from outside Boston. Thanks for the support you’re all over the channel today!!!🙏🙏

Amazing video! I was born and raised in Boston, right in Roxbury. When you started talk about one of my family members I Quickly showed this to some of my family thinking they will enjoy this too, they did but I learned tony Johnson was my grandmothers first cousin. Honestly shocked me to hear all that plus what you said in the video lol Though I do remember my uncle telling me a story back when I was like 14 about a family member who was big on the streets but was killed over a girl, just at that age I didn't want to hear any story just if I could play the game system or not 😅lol so I didn't know who that cousin was until now. Really looking fwd to your next video!
Thank you so much very much appreciated!! I would love to talk to anyone in the Johnson family. I want to do a full length video on them but I’d like to speak to a family member first. Keep it respectful. I’m glad you enjoyed the video it was definitely a tragic incident kid was very talented had a lot of potential. I’m glad i reawakened some old memories that’s a huge part of why I do this . Keep history alive!!
@@jasontrimmins8264 yeah sure no problem, you was very respectful in your video so I'll ask one of my uncles or mom to see if they know more or who to point me to but I know personally that I can't ask my grandmother lol she is deep in to religion now and doesn't like being asked or talking about the events of her time that involves drugs or gangs. Though I might be able to get some info from my grandfather but it might be more hateful information towards them than anything, recently learned from my mother, that my grandmothers family or just her male cousins (the Johnsons) didn't like my grandfather and even went as far to try and jump him. But I'll still ask maybe he be interested in sharing some stories from that time. I mean He do love telling me his old Vietnam war stories so might get lucky lol Also I showed this video to more of my family and a lot of them are happy you didn't paint Angelo as a monster, he was a close friend to my family(best friend to my mom, aunts and dad) and the godfather of my little sister. Grew up seeing him as my uncle. My mother tells me stories for days about him, one things I remember her saying was when her girls and herself be on Humboldt, he would be very protective of them and give a warning to everybody around that he would F them up if they touch his sis lol every time she brings that story up I see my mom smile. So thank you once again 🙏 she was the first I showed this too and she likes it.
@@joka10155 Wow that's amazing someone else commented about Angelo and said he had a tough childhood I really empathize with him. It's really awesome to hear about the other side of someone's character and life from the perspective of friends and family. Most people have people that they open up to and show the real person they are the media always wants to portray the negative side of people especially gang members or people associated with them. I'm glad no one took offense I really really try my best to be respectful and get the information correct. I would love to talk to your grandpa I'm really interested in the late 60s and 70s don't know a heck of a lot of that time period that sounds like it was his era. Thank you very much I appreciate the comment! The A home of the Braves! I really feel that there should be a well made feature film about the time period there was nothing else like it anywhere else in the US
I figure NO ONE would want to go into Columbia Point, one way in and one way out probably kept the dogs safe. For a city Boston's size, the 150 murders in 1990 made Boston one of the most dangerous cities in the US. I remember mid 2000s BPD and city officials braced for a lot of violence as the guys jailed in the 80s and 90s were now set to walk free again but nothing ever came of it. I grew up in Savin Hill. I saw a lot of shit but nothing quite like late 80s early 90s. Keep up the good work.
I know I used to take the train to the city and just wander around and get lost that’s how I learned the city. It’s small population wise as well. It’s a small big city if that makes sense?
I see you did your research! Very well put together. I'm sure some of the smaller crews that was left out might have something to say, but still put together nicely. My block was mentioned. You actually mispronounced it. We had smoke with Academy Homes back then. No need to correct it on my behalf. And I'm leaving it like that.....Thank you for this video! Very informative!

Those starter jackets were epic in the 90s, but the big nation wide gangs wear sports teams too, I know many bloods from all over the country all the way to LA wear the Boston red Sox hats, and the Cincinnati reds, just to name a few,,,,,,,, well I just got my answer going through more of the comments,, it's the villa, that wore the pirates as well

I don't know where you got this info from, but you are on point. @6:28, Tent City was never considered the Hornets, but were rivals. When I was a child, before all the beef, the older teens were wearing Miami Hurricanes. In the early 2000's, the Minnesota Twins 'TC' hats became popular by those who were claiming Tent City. Ironically, some Hornets were wearing Minnesota Twins hats, but with the 'M' on the front.

We have a joke saying are you crazy or are you just from Fogo?! They’re known to be kinda of dumb, crazy and violent lol. You can ask any CV dude and they’ll tell you the same. Each island speaks different and sometimes look completely different. I’m from Brava they’re very light skinned green and blue eyes sometimes. We are know to be more snobby and educated. Most of people from Brava say they’re Portuguese not African 😂. My dad says this when he’s drunk. Just thought I’d tell you a little bit about Cv history. Pretty interesting.

I was in Roslindale and Harvard Street DYS. Metro Gym was like 2-3 years before my time but that was no joke from what I heard. BST-MDU in late 90s early 2000 etc. was no joke. Me being a white kid from Dorchester I knew I lot of black kids, but I was outnumbered like 30-3 at all times. So I had to fight a lot before I wasn’t fucked with. Interesting I was wondering what Ruggles and also was surprised no one wore TarHeels they were wicked popular in the 90s. Did anyone wear university of Miami Hurricanes that was really popular too?
Yeah intervale never went by an actual team back in the day Strictly IVP and adidas .but you absolutely right.a few of dudes from up there did rock Indians and kc royals hats but it wasn’t really a thing.
Love this video but u missed a lot of hoods just so they don't feel left out like the Charlestown projects, cathedral, villa Victoria, Forest hills, la paleta, seaver st, fidelis, faneuil, Franklin Hill and Franklin field, geneva ave, ect... People don't realize Boston's nothing but hoods everywhere you step out here your in someone's hood but if you keep to yourself like how I did then your golden just don't get caught in some B's at the wrong time #comeinpeace or #leaveinpeaces
I agree with you I told other people I had a page of all smaller hoods I was just going to read off but I chose not to. I should’ve done that so many people have said the same thing. I’ll just have to do it in a future video. But you’re absolutely right and I was trying to stress that point. There are so many hoods almost every st is a different hood.
It’s so crazy to hear this breakdown on the hood and the project/street alliances cuz for me it was just normal and natural and the bonds that were once strongly built back in the day are now broken due to the youth and the worst part about this all is that everyone’s related to someone from a rival hoods💯

This video is very accurate about the lack of information out there. I grew up in Highland Black Hawk territory and the rival neighborhood was and is Orchard Park. It’s rare that I hear about all the murders that went on back then. The Highland Ave gang has been around since the 1960’s.
Really since the 1969’s ?? I’d be so interested to talk to anyone that was around back then. Are there any original members left around?
@@jasontrimmins8264 I made a typo I meant to say the 60’s and not 1969. This is tricky. One of the founders was a big drug dealer in the 60’s-80’s and retired a wealthy man. Everyone from the 90’s and 2000’s are still around and possibly willing to speak

Raiders and H-Block are 2 different crews. The real Raiders do not rep H-Block. I forgot to mention SCAT-G which was the alliance between St.Joes/Castlegate/Academy/Timberwolves/Greenwood. That is another crew that was outside

Hey what's up Joseph, I just watched your G Fredo video and have all videos on the him and the NOB, I gotta say thank you for doing such a tremendous job on the WHOLE STORY. I'm CV from Pawtucket and my dad's side of the family lives in Roxbury.. definitely has become real dangerous out there.. CV parents never even knew what a gang was until these kids start killing eachother. Once again great job and I look forward to checking out the rest of your content.
Marky Mark mentioned a part of your video in a song back in the day.
Yeah Tiffany Moore right? He was trying to let the country know what was really going on in Boston
this is the most accurate depiction of what I remember growing up in the Bean.. I lived on Harold St. when Tiffany Moore was killed. We weren't allowed to go outside after that. All of the Bury was hot after that.
Thank you very much for this comment. I really really appreciate that. I tried really hard to do a good job on this and I thought it was really important because nobody else had told the story. I was trying to tell the story because stuff just gets lost in time and history so I really appreciate the comment. Thank you. Have a blessed week.
Can you plz cover Mattapan square? KC hats for the Kaos Crew?
Yeah dang I forgot to to shout them out. Do they go by killah camp? I was told killah camp wore KC hats. My bad !! I’ll learn more about Mattapan do it more in depth
It was KOZ and they went hard for a minute back in the day… too hard though, because anyone who was anyone got caught up and as soon as they popped up it seemed like they were few and far between shortly after. They were goin back and forth with Thetford from like 2004-2007 and a lot of VERY young kids either lost their lives or caught life bids.

I grew up in the 80. And corbet street was the most feared
And ppl forget Norfolk Kings"..came before the Norfolk "bills never heard of)...and vamp hill warred for the same name.
I said Norfolk Bulls it was Therford Ave Bills. I didn’t know about the Kings though. Can you tell me anything about the Johnsons or was that before your time?

Angelo West was a friend, tragic story, he had a very abusive childhood
I can imagine. I didn’t mean any disrespect just wanted to relay how traumatic and dangerous that lifestyle could be and what some people suffered. His story is somewhat common knowledge so I used him as an example again no disrespect intended. That sucks to hear that his childhood was traumatic also. For what it’s worth I can empathize 🙏
Dude amazing work!!!
Thanks my dude I appreciate that!!
People always say that the violence today is the worst they have ever seen.
How can people say that growing up in the 80s and 90s during the crack era? Every major city was a war zone! NYC went from 2500 homicides in 94 to 300 in 2021 homicides today. The same in La , they went from 2000 homicides to 250 homicides. Yeah, these dumb ass kids shoot each other over internet beef, when we were killing each other over drug turf and drug beefs all over MONEY! I’m just saying the streets are much safer today than when I grew up. (This doesn’t include Chicago or St. Louis)
The late 80’s early 90’s was the most dangerous time in American history. Today’s violence doesn’t even come close at all!
Norfolk had Kings too, the other side of Norfolk were The Bulls. Then there were Blue Hill Chargers, I can go on and on
I’m sure you can. Feel free I enjoy learning

Oh yea 100% I’m CV and we been killing each other out here since the late 80s. The beef started back in CV with 2 big families, it got started out here after someone got killed back in Cv. Now it’s just crazy, has nothing to do with families. CV dudes have serious tempers, it’s ten different islands and most of the ones from Boston are from Fogo.
Didn't Academy have internal beef too? Light side and dark side?
Not really sure about that
Someone will know.
Years later they did if I'm not mistaken
Of course they will best part about all this 🔥🔥 people dropping knowledge
They had beef around 07 not sure what it was about but I think that's done now
People don’t understand how wild it really was back in those days. Boston is one of the first cities with the gunshot censors.
Really that's actually something I didn't know. I will definitely add that into a future video
Wasn't it a single bullet necklace that he got arrested for? Or was he twirling it in his fingers or something? Crazy. Bringing back all kinds of memories and lore.

I was in Roslindale and Harvard Street DYS. Metro Gym was like 2-3 years before my time but that was no joke from what I heard. BST-MDU in late 90s early 2000 etc. was no joke. The Boston way has always been that way you never know who you're talking to. It's not just about rap its much deeper than that.
True story!
Love this video but u missed a lot of hoods just so they don't feel left out like the Charlestown projects, cathedral, villa Victoria, Forest hills, la paleta, seaver st, fidelis, faneuil, Franklin Hill and Franklin field, geneva ave, ect...
