What a great review video of Civivi knives, nice job Neeves. Just my opinion, but the Civivi Pintail Flipper with Damascus blade and rosewood handle is the most beautiful 3" folding pocket knife currently available at any price. If only they'd release it in a 4" version. It was my first Civivi purchase and the knife that got me to start collecting. And hell yes Neeves, preach that Civivi Baklash! There's nothing better in the $40 range. I picked up the black G10 handle/black blade/blue anodized liner Baklash as well as the satin blade/black ebony wood handle version. Both look and feel so premium. The Baklash's wow factor straight out of the box is unreal and especially remarkable for a knife at this price.
I have the black G10 handle/black blade/blue anodized liner Baklash too! Amazing craftsmanship of both the handle design and blade shape design. Very reliable for tooling and self-defense.
@@shadowfox3392 Right? Said Baklash has been my work EDC for quite awhile now. Civivi are magicians at putting budget materials into their hat and pulling out fantastic knives with a premium look and feel.
If you actually use your knifes 🔪 these are the best bang for your buck... no need to buy a $200-$300+ knife, Civiv knifes will hold a edge just as long as a $200+ knife easy!!!
Dude I thought I'd could watch all your vids in a couple dayz but I've watched 3-4-5 a day since finding ur channel and I'm not even close but man I have learned so much! Thanks bro!✌
Altus, Cogent, Bo, Pintail, Appalachian Driffer II, Elementum S35VN, and Dogma. That's my list. Hard to keep the Baby Banter off the list, but there are so many great values.

Thanks Jared! So glad you did this video on Civivi. Because of your videos my first Civivi purchase was the Cogent absolutely love it. My second purchase was the Praxis the version with the brass liners in the high polished deep carry clip. Knife is beautiful absolutely love it. I carry a Recon 1 drop point daily and a Swiss army knife in my right front pocket.... But because the Praxis is so cool I carry it just cuz it's cool. Blade profile is amazing with the swedge on top and I like the silver blades. I was sort of hesitant cuz I absolutely despise liner locks.... But I bought it and took a chance. First thing I do is I spinewack it pretty good and most liner locks fail when I do that but not this one this one held so I'm a happy camper...thanks so much brother!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
How old is your Recon 1? I have one I bought over 15 years ago, back when they were an axis lock. One of my favorite knives just because of how long I’ve had it. Still functions perfectly and has its original omega springs.
@@jdisdetermined My Recon 1 is about 2 months old. I did however disassemble it, polishing of the bronze washers I removed the fiber washers, lightened up the tension on the spring for the lock... They come out of the factory way too tight too much tension. After all that she runs like a Ferrari it's my daily carry.
My top 5 Civivi: 1. Chevalier 2. Praxis 3. Button Lock Elementum 4. Regular Elementum 5. Altus Those are all the Civivis I have... gotta get my hands on more soon.
Knife shop called shortly after I saw this video. Got my riffle. I'm in love. I'm a bit more surprised than I thought I'd be holding it. Seems delicate though it has a purpose.
I just picked up the civivi hadros. I didn’t think I was going to like it at first, but I find I really like the blade shape and the fact that it’s hollow ground. I would prefer a better steel than 10cr but so far it’s doing ok.
My purple Cogent took while to break in, and I added some of that blue fishing reel oil....but now it's very nice. But I agree- the button lock Elementum is tops. I love that unique button feel- different from plunge locks...and the fact its the only mode of deployment is also very cool and makes for a sleek knife (perfect size- I LOVE how they increased it just enough). I have 3 S35VN Elementum's also on top of the Dessert Warrior, I can't bring myself to sell them- they're just so perfect and thin bte for a small knife....really want to try the hand brushed brass and satin one! Sencut and Civivi honestly never make a knife I don't like
The Civivi NOx is just a beast that no one know about.. I do prefer it more than the regular Elementum and was the first Civivi comes with a Nitro-v steel. and one of the rarest Civivi's that has a frame lock.
I don't know much about steels, what's your opinion on the Nitro-v steel vs Civivi's Damascus because I'm looking at the 'Conspirator'. $15 more for the Damascus
My two favorites are the Praxis and the baklash. I'm thinking of getting one. I want to try a Civivi. Metal Complex mentioned that the Praxis reminds him of the Spyderco Shaman and I agree. When I look at the curve of the handle and the blade shape that's why I'm leaning towards that. Initially, I was thinking of the Conspirator which would have been good for me since I love to fidget. Problem is, I'm suspicious of the durability and strength of button locks. I don't know. I might still end up with one. By the way, great video.
if you are gonna go button lock id rec it from we knife company civivi or sencut, however i highly rec the praxis its on of the best of all time budget work knives or knives in general

I got mine with the copper handles and it feels like an old timer’s knife. I like the weight though, makes it feel more substantial than the g-10.
I love my much-maligned button lock Elementum. It's used and abused, and comes back for more. I love the look, love the shape and the larger size on the button lock, and it's always easy to deploy. I have been renovating my kitchen and it's always out on the floor or in a drawer, I'm surprised I haven't lost it.
Currently enjoying the Bull Mastiff carbon, purple Praxis, and copper Dogma, all in damascus. The carbon fiber strip over the g10 offers no traction, but looks cool imo.
I just bought a C Backlash on your recommendation in this video. It’s fantastic! Question; I also bought the WorkSharp Field Sharpener. It has set angle guides of 20 degrees but the Civivis mostly come with a 15 degree edge. I’ve read a bit about the advantages of both. Would you recommend sticking with the 15 when it’s time to sharpen or change it to 20?
8 months late but the cutting edge should generally be the same angle as it came from the factory. steeper angle = more durability but also less slicing capability. But to change from a 15 degree to a 20 degree would mean drastically removing a lot of steel, a similar amount you'd remove after 2-3 years of regular and frequent sharpening. To determine whether or not it's worth doing I would first use the blade for its intended tasks. If it rolls edges quite easy doing what you want it to go through than I'd probably give it a stronger edge.
@@NeevesKnives Sorry I didnt know that. I have the brass McKenna its such a cool knife in loads of ways. I feel for that poor mans family. Peace and Love

You did start well in the Civivi world. Try the Odium and look at the NOx if you like small knives they comes with D2 and Nitro-v steels respectively, and both has a damascus steel. What I do find funny is the Bo designed by Brad Zinker a fantastic designer which surprisingly his name rhymes well with yours as well 😂
I have several civivi knives. My favorite are the tanto brazen and the new synergy 4. The synergy is my new edc. I do wish it had more handle options. I like the burlap micarta

I think one Civivi that is possibly better than the backlash would be the Shredder. I own the Rifle,Backlash and Praxis and for ergos, action and supper thin slicer the shredder wins although it is D2.
Jared, you made a comment about how nine CR from Civi wish the knife came in 14 C you need to go look at outpost 76. He does a cut test with nine CR from Civivi And you will not believe how good nine CR actually cuts I was absolutely impressed. Skeptical at first, but after out posted the cutest. I was a believer it did if memory serves right like 210 feet of cardboard which is right up there with S 35N in a 1 inch section of blade
The Riffle (Your #1) is now discontinued. BladeHQ is closing them out at $30 a pop. That is a steal and a half. I have one on order as I had to have one before they disappeared and I lucked out on the price. It's a shame something so nice was discontinued. I always liked the design, but was initially scared off by the radical cutout on the blade. Now that I have a better understanding of how tough 14c28n steel is, I no longer have concerns about the longevity of this knife. I also know that Civivi does phenomenal heat treats on this steel keeping the HRC around 60, which is really good when compared to Real Steel and Kershaw who stay around 56.
A few CIVIVI's I don't have yet, but do have the Praxis and Brazen, which the Backlash reminds me of the Brazen somewhat. My Brazen has the Tanto blade with Purple G-10. Love CIVIVI!
Hey Jared, you mentioned fixing a weak detent. One of my synergy 3’s has a weaker detent than the other one. Do you have a video explaining how to adjust it?
I would like to get one of those button options for my daughter who just started working as a checker at safeway. But she's left-handed and I don't know if anybody makes a left-handed model. Just trying to find something nice for her to have. price isn't an issue. But then there are a lot of options out there.
why don't i see these on BH , i didn't know the elementum came in different thickness' , i have a civivi ortiz and dropped it on pavment and it bent it's all warped up but i got it almost straightened out with a rubber dead blow hammer it almost stopped me from buying civivi but i just ordered the elementum ll flipper button lock natural G10 scales can't wait to get it
@@NeevesKnives Yes I understand that that is one of the main things I like about it that it locks closed. Why don’t you pull back the lock bar on an axis lock knife when you’re deploying the blade and you don’t fidget with your button locks??? I fidget like crazy with my Sencut Sasche and I deploy my axis and able locks by flicking them open. I also do the same with my Spyderco Manix’s… I also flick open my Gail Bradley, but I’m lately thinking about it not being good for them??? I think I might have messed up my Griptilian & Contego by flicking them open and them coming up against the stops to hard. I think I may have also messed up the rounded part of the blade inside the handle on the two right at the end of travel because they’re both not as smooth opening now when I don’t pull back the axis lock bar and it rides on the blade when opening!!! Is that the reason you don’t do either of those things, pull back lock bars and fidget with button locks???
I just got my first Civivi because I kept hearing they do a good job with D2… They don’t, it doesn’t hold an edge worth crap. I probably won’t buy another Civici, I’d rather pay twice as much and get a good steel that holds it’s edge 10x longer.
One problem I found with the Civivi Baklash is the liner lock can be depressed when squeezing the knife tightly. This causes noticeable blade rock. Also, I wish they would have called it the Backslash, which sounds both nerdy and dangerous at the same time.

Jared, I want a tanto, between the Civivi brazen tanto, or the Petrified Fish Beluga tanto which would you pick?
Another bang gang hit 🔥
A few CIVIVI's I don't have yet, but do have the Praxis and Brazen, which the Backlash reminds me of the Brazen somewhat. My Brazen has the Tanto blade with Purple G-10. Love CIVIVI!
Civivi is awesome!
Big fan of my Conspirator!
Civivi Chronic is my EDC. I sometimes forget it is there until I need it. Mine's purple because, why not?
Aw man kinda bummed the Ortis didnt make the list. Looking to get a new Civivi now.
The Conspirator is ok. I like the Cogent better. It has a better sound, and a better blade.
Damnit I just ordered a conspirator
why don't i see these on BH , i didn't know the elementum came in different thickness' , i have a civivi ortiz and dropped it on pavment and it bent it's all warped up but i got it almost straightened out with a rubber dead blow hammer it almost stopped me from buying civivi but i just ordered the elementum ll flipper button lock natural G10 scales can't wait to get it
amzn.to/3iVj05g
Here's a link and yes the s35 version is even thinner than the d2 as far as the elementum goes
Want a winner? Roll out a larger pintail in s35vn, dark wood scales.
Hey I had a question the button lock elementum and the conspirator the element now has a flipping deployment now .
Is the elamentum your favorite now?
The elementum is still locked closed, I was always able to flick it but you have to push the button and flick it
@@NeevesKnives Yes I understand that that is one of the main things I like about it that it locks closed. What I was asking was have you seen the new ones with the thumb flick on the back ?that was the main thing you said you didn’t like about it or you wish that it had Sorry I couldn’t find the right word I just said thumb flick. You actually usually use your index finger to push that lol I’m having like a brain fart I hope you know what I mean
Probaby worth mentioning the Altus button lock is in Nitro-V.
Wish they made an xl brazen. I like my synergy4 but I'd like the brazen better I think
I know that they have a ton of models, but I'm still surprised that none of my two favorites made it even to your honorable mentions list.
My favorites are the Bo and the Mckenna - R.I.P. Elijah Isham :(
Are resin bonded diamond stones better than diamond plates or just last longer?
They are definitely budget knives. It's very hard to get a decent knife with good blade steel under 100 bucks.
Civivi doing a great job.
Bo is 100% the best! Ostap Hell knives is great. Thug is fantastic!
Looking to get one. I have big hands, which one should I get
The Picaro is so underrated.
I just got my first Civivi because I kept hearing they do a good job with D2… They don’t, it doesn’t hold an edge worth crap. I probably won’t buy another Civici, I’d rather pay twice as much and get a good steel that holds it’s edge 10x longer.
Backlash is my main edc
Great list 👍
My Brigand is awesome, I know it's discontinued, but awesome!
One problem I found with the Civivi Baklash is the liner lock can be depressed when squeezing the knife tightly. This causes noticeable blade rock. Also, I wish they would have called it the Backslash, which sounds both nerdy and dangerous at the same time.
