Enter to win these 4 knives on Instagram: bit.ly/4fqjY16 Civivi: Do you want to make a video about us being in Walmart? Me: Yes, but there will be a conspiracy theory involved…
Which is they are paying you to do a large commercial to convince Americans to support the CCP Peoples Army. By buying knives that are made in China. We know we care, we might stop watching you.
I bought a Civivi Qubit from Walmart. I didn't have one from the Civivi website to compare, but the one I picked up was very sharp, worked very smoothly, and it appeared to be flawless.
I ordered a Civivi from Walmart online. and it came to me from civivi. I feel sure that Civivi would not go through the trouble of making two grades of knifes just for Walmart.
CRKT definitely did. I bought an M16 (can't remember which exact model) from Walmart when I was in my teens and it was a decent knife. I decided I wanted another one but this time I bought it from CRKT directly and the quality was much better.
I love Civivi and WE knives! When I saw them in Walmart, I thought the same conspiracy in my head, so thanks for doing a video on this topic. It's cool that some box stores are stepping up their knife game. Great Job!
When I sold guns at a real gun shop from 96'-02', we would sometimes get customers with defective guns from Walmart. The Remington guns had a W prefix in the serial number so they were easy to spot.
I bought all 4 of these Civivi knives at my local Walmart. They all came in a white Civivi box with the zippered pouch. These 4 Civivi knives are the only ones in my entire knife collection (230 knives) that can cut through the cardboard cylinder inside a roll of paper towels.
If they were significantly cheaper at walmart I'd be suspicious, like maybe they got the blades that scored a bit low but that seems impractical and the prices look normal so I wouldn't worry.
I dont live in the USA, so there's no Walmart. I just bought the Brazen box version in black/black and it arrived the day before yesterday. It's been oiled, stropped and now it's extremely sharp. Holds an edge well, but it needs time to smoothen up.... Also, it looks awesome 😂
Great video, Melissa! I just bought a Qubit at Walmart because of this video. It’s a great knife and it came in the cardboard box like the ones from the website.
If you find yourself at Walmart, take a stoll down the clearance aisle. I scored a buck 110 for $15 a few weeks ago. These will eventually make their way into clearance
I can't believe that Civivi knives are being sold at Wal-Mart! I'm going to have to check my local Wal-Mart spring food counter and see if they have them. Thanks so much!!!
I would've checked the steel type, and heat treat, too. LOL. One thing I noticed about Walmart, back when I could still stand to go into a Walmart, was that quality of merchandise, even within the same brands, seemed to go down, in direct correlation to the median income of the nearest neighborhood. In other words, Walmarts near wealthier people had better quality products, than Walmarts near less well-off folks. It's as if the products came from the same nominal companies, but completely different OEMs, made with different grades of materials. Mainly clothing and footwear, but I noticed some difference in knives, too. Electronics were the same, but they cost about the same as everywhere else, too. CIVIVI is a reputable company, so I would be surprised if they were doing anything like that, but business IS business. Too bad Sam Walton's offspring do not have his integrity. If you can still find anything about the mind-boggling WAR over Sam's will, it's quite entertaining, to say the very least. Those rich people are messed up, big time! Spoiler, the judge was so sick of the insane accusations, lies, and emotional breakdowns of the Walton "kids", he threw the case out, and told them to figure it out, themselves!
I was in a local San Antonio Texas Wally World and saw Civivi knives in the display case and I couldn’t believe that a quality knife like Civivi was in there, guess Wally World is trying to draw in better customers which a plus plus for preppers
The China-Mart in my area doesn't have a knife counter where you can fondle the folders. They're all in blister packs & locked up. Even though, I bought the Mini Praxis & the Brazen, because I really like all my Elementum variants. Thanks for a great video!
Awesome! Thanks for the informative video. And the updates on knives. My collection is Gerber, Benchmade, ESEE and I own 1 Just in Case knife. Fixed blade. So sharp it comes with a band aide.
That was fun! I have wondered the same thing. I've stopped and looked in the cases and thought to myself they must be cheaper versions. Glad to know I was wrong.
I loved this video very cool seeing the comparison between Walmart and CIVIVI website. I’ve also had that thought in the back of my mind is there a difference now I can confidently buy at Walmart thanks to you. Also that Amazon microscope was very cool I’m going to have to get one of those I’m not sure what I’m going to use it on but it’s to cool to pass up. Thanks for the great video and look forward to the next
I saw the Civivi knives at Walmart, and they are the same prices as the Civivi website. I'm not much of a Walmart shopper, but cool Civivi has knives at Walmart. Nice review, Melissa! Hopefully, it will stop the conspiracy theories. 😊
I love Civivi! Thank you for doing this test. I was wondering if they were the same knife. My biggest worry is that since Civiv is hitting the mainstream and being sold at Walmart they are going to lower their quality standards. I have several and love them, but many product's quality seems to downhill once they get into Walmart. Love your channel, thank you for all the great reviews.
Years ago I bought the Walmart OKC 499 and it came in the blister pack. I don't remember exactly now what the differences were but it was something like the sheath and maybe the butt of the handle.
Melissa do you have a video of what tools you're using to work on your knives? What is a good all-round kit for taking screws out of knives? I have a Buck knife I want to take down and clean. I don't have anything around the house with bits that small to take out the screws. Looking for a good all-around kit to use. TIA
Hey miss backwoods those now some Walmart by any chance are they great value knives you know that’s a Walmart brand more than likely Walmart is buying the knives from the company that you’re talking about and selling them cheaper and they could be called great value good to see you. Have a great day.
I heard temu and Amazon have a version of the strongarm that isn't as good as Gerber's. Maybe see whos the best out of the imposters and compare them to the official Gerber version. Awesome video!!
Melissa, I’ve been blown away by the quality of the $10 orange Ozark Trails Bug Out inspired knife (aka Bug Out clone) So now I want to see a comparison between the $10 Walmart BugOut Clone & a Walmart Civvi. But something tells me Civvi won’t be supportive of that test!
I have one as well built great, when it loses it's edge it takes an edge extremely well and very sharp fast without the edge rolling on but the thing is at least on mine the edge doesn't last long for D2, I'm guessing the heat treatment isn't up to parr but at least it comes back extremely well. Maybe yours is better I hope. The knife itself as a whole for the price is like I said extremely well built. BUT as for a comparison with Civivi, it probably doesn't stand a chance, mainly because of edge retention. You'd have to compare it with Civivis little brother company Sencut but being made buy WE/CIVIVI even that would be a stretch. But keep an eye on Ozark trails because once they get the heat treatment right on their steels they'll be a force to be recond with. A very respectable first try.
Some Swiss Tech knives used to be made in the USA but most are now made in China, not that it matters as Swiss Tech knives are no match for the quality of genuine Swiss Army knives made by Victorinox or in the past by Wenger
I can rest easy now knowing that knives I would never buy at a store I never go to are the same as the ones I wouldn’t buy online 😂 It was still the best show I ever saw!
I bought CRKT Knife for Wal-mart. The model number is the same and picture online looks the same. Price was less at Wal-Mart. The nut at pivot was too tight to open good.
Thanks so much for your your effort here! I was wondering about these knives like you. Glad to know some things are still legit. Glad no digits were harmed in the filming of this, that I could see! Thanks! 🙌🏻🫶🏻🔪
The answer would be yes.. yes they're the same. Which I know that Melissa knew before even heading to Walmart, because they literally come from the same factory, you know... The WE factory? It's funny that people think since it's sold at Walmart that it would be different but no they're the same. Now when it comes to things like bicycles, like when huffy and Schwinn went to Walmart they started to only be sold at Walmart and since Walmart is the sole retailer the quality went waaaay down.
Hi Melissa! Great video as always. I was actually inclined to believe the same because I bought my very first civivi, which was a praxis, from Amazon and I was underwhelmed and didn't understand the hype. It was blunt and what not. Later, I gave civivi another shot and purchased the elementum from BladeHQ and it was awesome. So, I'd like to see if there's a difference between Amazon Civivi vs. the others. Although what you said about employees at civivi sharpening manually, may explain the lemon of a Praxis I got from Amazon.

Me: Yes, but there will be a conspiracy theory involved…
Hey Melissa, what sharpener do you think is the best? Can you do a comparison? Thank you beautiful.

LOL
@@scottmiller1977she has a video on the one she likes.
I like your braids a lot...very pretty.
I bought a Civivi Qubit from Walmart. I didn't have one from the Civivi website to compare, but the one I picked up was very sharp, worked very smoothly, and it appeared to be flawless.
I really appreciate your knife reviews. Thank you.
Never even looked at the knives when at Walmart, I think next time I'm there I'll pick up a Civivi! Thanks so much for this post!!!
I ordered a Civivi from Walmart online. and it came to me from civivi. I feel sure that Civivi would not go through the trouble of making two grades of knifes just for Walmart.

That is interesting indeed- Civivi mentioned to me they were the exact same but I need to test haha
Were these the 870's ?
Love the science!
Never seen that sharpness tester.
Nice move with the Microscope

I'm glad you're doing this, thank you
I collected Case trappers for years, but the last 3-4 years I’ve became hooked on Victorianox Swiss Army knives.
Great review, Melissa ... I was wondering about those Walmart/Civivi knives, too ... now I know!
Whatever I get over the web I always check the walmart website for variety and possible free shipping
Since I just bought a Mini Praxis at Walmart, I’d glad to hear I didn’t get a knockoff.
4:13 I have a hard time getting the tip in too sometimes...
Stop ittttt
😂
Thank you as I was sitting here mulling over if I wanted to say this or not. Its the military sense of humor mixed with growing up in duval.
I came to the comment section just for this comment!!
You could always take these to CERN and see how well they do in a particle accelerator.

You did a nice job on your investigation. The microscope was a great addition.
I just received my Civivi Yonder today and what a beautiful and useful knife it will be.
I bought the Elementum almost the first day I found out Walmart was selling them. It's been one of my daily carries ever since.
I agree that you should double carry them side-by-side. For at least a month! great video. And I appreciate the information. I was quite hesitant.
Heck ya. I am building get home bags and adding Civivi knives would a plus. Gimme dem knives.
Loving the crimson tanto. Very under-stated detailing. Really need to move to America and buy a few.

Ill buy all the knives!
Nice comparison - there's always questions re source, and you do hear warnings. Fun vid - wicked cool microscope - love the jingle on the end!

Nobody wants preppers on their store, bring that paranoia somewhere else.

Heck’s yeah . If I see an elemntum at Walmart I’m gonna get one . I love the brazen too👍. Good choice
G'day Melissa.! Glad to see you're back on the saddle, doing what you enjoy doing. Great comparison vid, more of this please.! Cheers from Australia.

Bought a civivi mini praxis from walmart.... Good low price for a great sharp little knife.
You could always do like on Forged in Fire and put them through different tests
Thanks for the great reviews

Years ago I bought the Walmart OKC 499 and it came in the blister pack. I don't remember exactly now what the differences were but it was something like the sheath and maybe the butt of the handle.
Great job on the comparison! Looking forward to tomorrow’s sale.
I just bought the CRKT M16-01ks from Walmart. Got it for $35, like $20 cheaper than Amazon right now.
Always good to know there is somewhere close to home to get on line gear including knives. Thanks.

Some Swiss Tech knives used to be made in the USA but most are now made in China, not that it matters as Swiss Tech knives are no match for the quality of genuine Swiss Army knives made by Victorinox or in the past by Wenger
Thanks ! As always great video ! 😉
Excellent video...I just can't stand Walmart and would rather support local businesses for so many reasons.
I can rest easy now knowing that knives I would never buy at a store I never go to are the same as the ones I wouldn’t buy online 😂
It was still the best show I ever saw!
The plastic clam shell packaging is a negative in my book, but it is nice to know its the same knife non the less.
Thank you for the reviews, awesome!

I've also seen Mora Basic 511 carbon steel & Mora Companion Heavy Duty. I got the Basic 511 for $11.97 after tax.
Melissa, I wanted to ask about your friend in NC that lost everything. Did they find his fiancee?
It's blister pack vs. box. Minor differences in accessories, same knife.
Any idea....on a good cheap knife sharpener.
The answer would be yes.. yes they're the same. Which I know that Melissa knew before even heading to Walmart, because they literally come from the same factory, you know... The WE factory?

Your flaxen hair is so beautiful. You are the complete package my dear!
I don't know what you really expected to see but I did enjoy the video!
Were the prices the same?
Excellent review of these Civivi knives. I need to go check them out personally. Thanks
Wow! They're the same. Not all of the knife brands are. Thanks!
There used to be claims tgat the Ruger 10/22 rifles sold at WalMart were different 5han the ones dold elsewhere. As far as I know that wasn't true, either.
For several years Walmart did sell a 'Walmart' version of the Gerber Prodigy. It was made in the U.S. in the same place as the regular models. Love the braids
This could get interesting because if walmart is starting to sell civivi, what knives will places like Accademy or Lowes add to their inventory?
That's what she said
What a coincidence! I was in Walmart wondering the very same thing!
Was the pricing the same as the website?
She answered another question (2 comments below) saying the prices are the same.
Good info Melissa!!!
Hi Melissa! I've been following your channel for a while, and I really enjoy how you bring the outdoors to life with such passion and creativity. Your videos have inspired me to start my own RUclips journey, and it's been incredible seeing how much work goes into each adventure. I’d love to know-what was one of the most surprising challenges you've faced while creating content in the backwoods? Thanks for sharing all that you do, and keep up the amazing work!
You even looked at them in a microscope!! LOL
I have to investigate properly!
LOL
That was baller
Great job on your review 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I want to share my story with you about them and it was the exone model that I had preordered from CIVIVI directly and I waited for months to get it and I received it the same time I could have gotten it from Amazon!
I paid the full retail from CIVIVI for $69 and I could have got it from Amazon for $58.99 .
So I had to contact CIVIVI with my complaint and they did end up refunding me the $10 but I then decided at that point to never buy another CIVIVI knife ever again
This was a cool video but I would think it would be counterproductive for a brand to sell lesser quality knives than normal but still super cool that you did this
Then I must swing by my local Walmart. Thx 4 sharing the info.
Of course! Thanks for watching
OMG what about the backlash, um, it's the only Civivi I have! 😂
Thank you Melissa! 😎🗡️ 🔪🔥
The Walmart by my house has a small selection of knives no civivi's yet might check out one of the other Walmarts
Good to know there is no difference depending on the store. More torture tests!
Test inconclusive, elements in metal not tested.
I like the new outro 😄
Thank you, I was pretty proud of that outro
Civivi must have so much overstock that one way to try to get rid of them is to put them on the shelves at Walmart to expand their sales.
Any chance you would apply to go on the Summit? You could buy Koenig's, Olamic's, and Herman Knives etc. for every day of the week!! Talk about a Ringer Extraordinaire!! What knife would you take??
I figure that if it is cheaper at Walmart than on the manufacturer website, then I wonder if Walmart isn't getting the seconds, or maybe some cheaper materials? I have a hard time believing if a product is made in America, that when it starts to be sold in Walmart, it doesn't somehow gain some ties to China.
Is it weird that I wanna braid Melissa's hair?🤔
Yes. Yes it is. Lol
Like the microscope, outdoors55 better step it up :)
Thank you ,informative , enjoyable to watch and you , respectfully, are more beautiful every post. Thank you.
Mostly you seem to cover folders. Do you ever do things like fixed EDC blades?
Nice job, lefty
Funny no surprise the Ozark Trail Bugout-Clone with the most generic name was sold out when you visited Walmart.
