      Judy Garland’s life and story is much more powerful than this boring, pointless movie that covers a little about Judy at the end of her life. Nothing made it clear to viewers that did not experience Judy know why she is an icon. Renee may be a wonderful person but she is NO Judy Garland. Do NOT recommend this film if you are a fan of Judy Garland. It is another lackluster, empty Hollywood film that shows the lack of talent and creativity in the current film industry.

      She didn't get her eyes done. When they approached her to do the Judy movie she knew she'd have to work at looking like her. So, Renee started wearing eyelid tape, the type worn by asians to get the double eyelid look without surgery. Renee has naturally hooded eyes from her Sami heritage, Judy had a visible eye crease. She also wore a small nose prosthetic while filming. It worked so well that wearing the eyelid tape in public was noticed and sparked surgery rumors. She kept the secret of her "look" not wanting to expose the Judy movie news.

Judy was only 2 years old when she first started in vaudeville, before she became a superstar at MGM and in live concerts. This is why Judy Garland died at only 47. @@akrenwinkle Is there something wrong with "Ms", a nuance I am missing? I am not a child, but perhaps I may be blamed for having a rapt reverence for a icon who suffered much in her personal life. I feel she should be knighted and called "Dame" Judy Garland. What a great deal of herself she gave the world!

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 4 года назад

      I'll give it a try, but I'll be sorry. Judy Garland would not know what "Ms." means, women were not addressed as "Ms." during her lifetime and she had never been addressed as "Ms. Judy Garland" even once, and so it is inappropriate to do so long after her death. Also, Judy was the opposite of a feminist, always deferring to men. It is in total innocence when girls write things like "Ms. Eleanor Roosevelt." It is not necessary to be a child to think and write like one. Of course, in your case, it helps.

For sure hotel staff referred to her as "Ms. Garland."

    • @akrenwinkle
      @akrenwinkle 4 года назад

      @@kkarand1 Judy Garland's only titles were professionally Miss Garland, and in legal matters, Miss Gumm, Mrs. Rose, Mrs. Minnelli, Mrs. Luft, Mrs. Herron, and Mrs. Deans or, as she liked to call herself, Mrs. DeVinko. She had not, even once during her lifetime, been addressed or written about as "Ms. Garland." There are two reasons for that, you imbecile: 1) the term "Ms." was not in use at the time; 2) even if it was, Judy would not have used it. You have only yourself to blame. You choose to go through life knowing as little as possible. I believe in free will and personal responsibility. You have made your choice and I don't GAF. She is actually a person who has something interesting to say. She is very articulate intelligent. How she words things is like poetry. She could have been a great writer. I do wish actresses could age naturally. I believe Garland went through alot of pain in her life, especially at the end. She was used and used up. Starting from childhood, and her own mother, the stage mother to end all stage mothers. You can not go through all she went through, and not become tough, hardened, cynical. Yet she still always maintained some spark that kept her going, when most would've dropped in their tracks. Renee seemed to understand Garland and embraced this role, doing it justice. I still cant help but wonder what her natural face would have been like and think she wouldve been cuter naturally. But to each their own i guess. She is still beautiful inside and out either way. She exudes a gracefull, intelligent, charming yet vulnerable, earthy humility that shines right on through.

    So nice that Judy Garland is mostly remembered now for the good stuff, the talent, the voice, the films, the dancing, the magic. Her legacy and legend survived, and faired much better than she did in the latter years (47?!? She looked 60 by the end) of her life. She’s rightly remembered as one of the greatest of all time; and all the boos and ridicule the end brought have faded away. But her legacy star still shines bright, as it rightly should, and she’ll always be remembered for what she gave us, not for what she failed to give. And I believe Renee has done her proud. ❤️
