I was dumbfounded when I heard them say she was 47. She really did look like she was in her golden years. And then to learn why she appeared so worn, total heartbreak. I feel for her. How I wish she was able to experience the same profoundly genuine joy that she made *countless* others feel.
This is no doubt tragically unfortunate, but it certainly doesn't tarnish her legendary status that she so rightfully earned. Nor does it erase the permanent mark she left on sooo many people's hearts. She was a remarkable presence. If there is life after death, I strongly hope Judy's afterlife is far more better, and far less cruel than the one here on Earth was to her. She deserves nothing less.
They just don't make 'em like Judy Garland anymore. 🌈❤️

It's because Hollyweird had/has an odd obsession with trying to emaciate the female form. It's why the skeletal Victoria Secret fashion show is allowed every year on tv, yet a commercial that showed curvy women in lingerie was banned, claiming it was too much. Overly skinny is "safe."

    • @sarahholland1375

The studio system back then had most actresses on diet & mood elevator pills not just Judy. They had to conform to a very rigid idea of 'beauty'. It's very abusive & very sad. One studio head even had actresses menstrual cycles plotted on a calendar so they couldn't plead 'women's problems' illness etc. When Judy was 15 she did 10films in 9months & collapsed on set with exhaustion. The Dr stated she need a year off. The studio gave her 3 weeks. No wonder she felt her mother failed her.

I was dumbfounded when I heard them say she was 47. She really did look like she was already in her golden years. To put it further into perspective, she passed away at age 47, which means these interview clips of her were sometime *before* 47. Regardless of her generation or the era at the time, she appears noticeably older than a woman in her late 40s. And to learn why she appeared so worn is heartbreaking. Drugs played only one dark role out of countless others. For decades, since her early childhood, Judy was visited daily by the feelings of utter exhaustion, no self-worth, tremendously overworked, deep anxiety, even deeper depression, high demands from top execs, endless pressure from the many toxic twats that used and abused her, etc.
I feel for her. How I wish she would've experienced the same heartfelt joy that she made countless others feel.
This is all no doubt tragically unfortunate, but it certainly doesn't tarnish her legendary status that she rightfully earned, nor does it erase the permanent mark she left on sooo many people's hearts. If there truly is life after death, I sure hope Judy's afterlife is far more better, and far less cruel than the one here on Earth was.

It's such a horrible feeling knowing how much back in the days in the Hollywood industries a lot of actress and actor had built success but end up not been paid and credit for there roles and always been treated horribly bad! And end feeling emotional truly legend from the past

Chelly Sweets 80s & 90s! NO SHE DOESNT. JUDY WAS FAR SUPERIOR TO LIZA. JUDY CONSIDERED LORNA WAS HER SINGER, AND SHE WAS UNTIL HER VOICE LEFT HER EARLY. JUDY CONSIDERED LIZA TO BE HER DANCER. Liza’s voice left her early also. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER JUDY EVER.

    • @carolynnuss799

Liza looks a lot more like her than does Liza's half-sister, Lorna. You can see Liza when you look in the center of Judy's eyes & vice-versa. The rest of Liza is Minnelli looking. Lorna favors Judy's mother, Ethel Gumm.

Millions of girls dream of walking in her shoes until you find out the truth. How absolutely horrendously treated she was. Used and abused by the studio system until they had worn her out. Then tossed on the scrap heap a severely damaged addict. Her story is just heartbreaking. Judy you deserved so much better. The only comfort is the eternal legacy left by many of your films. Particularly the Wizard of Oz. Which will be part of the fabric of millions of childhoods forever more ❤️
