I could imagine Judy snickering that any drag queen on Fire Island could at least have looked at sounded more accurate, and that the film took outrageous liberties with the truth.
Renee Zellweger is the third actress to playing Judy Garland since Tammy Blanchard (young Judy) and Judy Davis (older Judy) in Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows for which Tammy Blanchard and Judy Davis both won Emmy Award for this mini series.

I just watched "Judy" on Amazon Prime. It took me three days to finish it. Miss Garland was a star in every sense of the word. My Lord, she went through so much in her film/stage/recording career. She needed to be in rehab and receive therapy not just getting vitamin injections. So sad that she died of an accidental overdose. By the end of the movie, I was in tears. Adil El Nhaily I very much agree that many actresses very snubbed too. Yes I agree Lupita deserved a nomination. Same goes for Awkwafina. Also I even think Florence Pugh should’ve been nominated for Midsommar. I really liked ‘Us’ and I feel bad that Lupita wasn’t nominated but I don’t think we can have all these actresses in one category. That’s the point of the award, to shortlist best ones. It’s a pity though that sometimes out personal favs aren’t nominated.
@@nabeel2453 Yes but Saiorse Ronan and Charlize Theron were kind of meh compared to Awkwafina and Lupita. It's easy for the Academy to nominated Saiorse and Charlize (4 and 3 nominations each)
i agree. i saw all the films they were nominated for. charlize and saoirse had very good performances but not on the same level as renee's. the only other performance i think matched renee's was lupita's. the confrontation sequence between her two characters was oscar gold. that scene alone when they were about to kill each other was enough to earn her a nomination.
DIMUNYU Yes that’s true. But lol we can’t change the academy’s opinion on it. Also you may have noticed that the Oscars are very biased towards horror films. The only modern horror film that won an Oscar was Get Out. Other than that I was really looking forward to Us being nominated but it didn’t. Well, it’s still okay bcuz Lupita has an Oscar already (12 Years A Slave). Even in 2018, I was really looking forward to Toni Collette getting atleast a nomination for Hereditary but she got snubbed. Midsommar also got zero nominations this year. All of this shows that the Oscars don’t usually nominate horror movies.
This was honestly a very emotional moment for me, she's always been one of my absolute favorite actresses and she BECOMES the roles she's in...it's truly incredible. She deserves this so much, I hope she even gets a third one one day.

I’ve watched this so many times...I’m that happy renee won! The way they play Judy’s little tune makes me cry. I’m glad finally Hollywood recognises Judy in the form of Renee I mean MGM destroyed judy’s life.
When the orchestra played “somewhere over the rainbow” I teared up. It’s just so beautiful how things came together for this movie to become a reality. And the right time to release it. I know Judy is somewhere over the rainbow looking down very proud and humbled by all of this.
Johansson deserves supporting But in leading roles, Zellweger is the deserved winner Her performance is fantastic and so touching, that ending scene makes me cry like a baby
Since Judy herself never won this, it's like she was guiding Renee there from beyond saying "You go get him for us both, damn it!" I think she gave the performance of 2019, and her career.
Watched Judy for the second time tonight. The intense emotions and inexplicable feelings that I had when I first saw it were absolutely the same. Nothing subsided. Renee is truly a gem and a treasure in the film industry. She doesn't only portray the character, she becomes the character, and that's what contributes to her brilliance and perfection. Truly grateful to you Renee for letting us witness you doing your craft. To more awards! ❤
I honestly cannot wait to see Saoirse finally win her first Oscar. She is just so fucking good, the best actor of her generation. Also, Renee deserved this win-WOW!
@studyculture MMM, nah. I don't think she was miscast. I'm also just not a big fan of Renee's acting. Have you seen the scene where she first meets Nora? It's pretty fantastic.
This was Renée's award 100%. Not a great movie, but a tremendous performance. The thing that is just amazing (and I'm sure this is a repeat of so many others) is this was less than a year ago! We are living in such different times.
It took me until last night to finally sit down and watch Judy. And i don't regret it. Because the powers of hope and legacy are something we need right now.
Renee captured the essential factors for a believable impersonation. She has been negatively hit on Facebook on the basis that she was not singing like Judy. I spent some time with Judy in 1951 and I was blown away by Renee's impersonation. Her mannerisms were so good that I could easily believe that I was sitting with Judy again. Well done Renee!
I watched JUDY last night. FINALLY! I was extremely moved. I was born in 1969, the year Judy Garland passed away. I really didn’t know much about her life. Here I am at 50 years old and now a huge fan. Renee deserves this Oscar. ⭐️❤️💯
Renee deserved that Oscar, watching her in the movie "Judy" it really did make you believe she was Judy Garland with the hair, makeup, prosthetics, wardrobe and mannerisms/personality extraordinary and great acting!
And she sang by her own voice
Judy Garland would have been so proud!
No kkkk
Or jealous
She would be very proud.🥰
@@siddharthnaagar7028 jealous?! She had won oscar twice and a legend and an icon!!! She has nothing to be jealous about! May she rest in peace. Love her so much!!!
The legend of legends would have clapped but she would have given a standing ovation only to Judy Davis who played her in Me and My Shadows. Renee paled next to Judy Davis.
I’ve watched this so many times...I’m that happy renee won! The way they play Judy’s little tune makes me cry. I’m glad finally Hollywood recognises Judy in the form of Renee I mean MGM destroyed judy’s life.
What a beautiful acceptance speech. She gave special shout outs to our first responders to Selena.
I love Selena so much 💜
When the orchestra played “somewhere over the rainbow” I teared up. It’s just so beautiful how things came together for this movie to become a reality. And the right time to release it. I know Judy is somewhere over the rainbow looking down very proud and humbled by all of this.
Our heroes unite us and help us agree as we find in them virtues that we only hope to reflect. God bless you Renee for your performance.
After watching Judy, I absolutely believe that she deserves this award!
Johansson deserves supporting
But in leading roles, Zellweger is the deserved winner
Her performance is fantastic and so touching, that ending scene makes me cry like a baby
Scarlett was a leading actress im Marriage Story and she should've won !!
The way she carries herself was so classy. I loved her!!!!
If only her first Oscar win was for Chicago
Renée is a truly gifted actress and I can never stop watching Judy it’s just amazing
I honestly cannot wait to see Saoirse finally win her first Oscar. She is just so fucking good, the best actor of her generation. Also, Renee deserved this win-WOW!
She’s a phenomenal actress and even a better human being.
Renée is amazing !
AS MUCH AS RENÉE’S, THIS WAS DEFINITELY JUDY GARLAND’S OSCAR
Of course it is.
Nah Scarlett should’ve won. Not trying to troll, just telling the truth.
Mackie Lunkey lol
Ivan Gentolizo Yup
@studyculture MMM, nah. I don't think she was miscast. I'm also just not a big fan of Renee's acting. Have you seen the scene where she first meets Nora? It's pretty fantastic.
Finally !! Judy Garland got her oscar....
Totally deserved, Renée the best 💜
She was mesmerizing, she totally deserved It. So proud of her!
Just wow. Well deserved. 2 Academy award and 4th nomination. Judy would've been proud
If only her first win was for Chicago
I can’t actually believe how much she actually sounds so different when she talks from her own voice to that of Judy
Saoirse will win one day....
who is she? shame on me... Give me movie of her to find on Netflix. I will go watch. please.
Eduardo Viajero Lady Bird , Brooklyn
She's good but no good enough, kinda overrated
She already won an Oscar wen she was 13 years old
@@eduardochavacano That movie she became Judy. This was an amazing portrayal and I didn't see Renee I saw Judy! I cried and I was so amazed.
Her performance is brilliant.. She deserves all the accolades and respect
Scarlett and Charlize deserved this too, it's always good to have a category full of such great performances that make it hard to choose one!
Saoirse just looks surprised that someone finally pronounced her name correctly😂😂
She will be nominated again next year for two movies : The Outrun and Blitz
Class act! Have so enjoyed her press tour - she speaks with only love and grace.
Reneè Zellweger is a FORCE OF NATURE.... What a comeback man... What a Comeback.... Congratulations Reneè 😍
I'm crying. The Oscar the real Judy never got.
I love her!! She is so elegant and doesn't pretend to be someone she's not (Reneé)
What a GEM of a lady! A stunning human being. A true heart. Oh my gosh, this is one of my all-time favourite wins and speeches.
WHAT A COMEBACK from Renee!
You fully deserved your award.
wow!thanks for sharing
I'm so proud of you, Renee!!!!!! Your acting moves me. I hope I can see you as a good actor in your next work. ❣️
Seeing their faces while the nominations is so wholesome, they look so happy
Congratulations, Renée Zellweger!
Scorsese looked so flattered to be mentioned. That was nice. Excellent speech from a great actress.
That walk so graceful... She is an enlightened one!
She is such a good lady! congrats Renee!!
Finally! Dear Reene you are so talented
No notes, no teleprompter, just honest inner beauty! Love yah Renée! Fondly, Tobey
She is so quiet and so sweets 💕💕
Timmy's smile when Saoirse's nomination was announced. I live for their friendship. 😭❤️
She's the most underrated actress i've ever seen since Bridget
Renee Zellweger and Amy Adams are my all-time favorites.. Renee is so good at what she does, ever since I saw her on Jerry Maguire, Nurse Betty and Bridget Jones I knew she would grab all awards.. Amy deserves an oscar too
Okay but her posture is immaculate.
well deserved, her performance was amazing
Love her 💕 she was phenomenal as Judy Garland 👏👏👏
Renee embodied the role of Judy Garland soooo beautifully. Congrats to her! She deserved this award. All of these beautiful and talented Queens are amazing at what they do
The fact that Scarlett was nominated twice and she was soo happy bc she proved everyone that she is not just pretty
you could tell she was so touched to even be nominated after all those years of being labelled for her looks
I'm a one man band on youtube. Hope you can enjoy one of my songs.
She moves so elegantly. Humble & sweet voiced.
GOD BLESS!
