Great filming as always! What size Adanola leggings do you wear (not sure on the sizing) are they petrol blue? Are the trainers you are selling still available please? X
I literally just came back from our summer vacation, and I literally took 6 outfits, including what I wore the day we traveled. I learned to mix and match (I guess a capsule), it was the easiest packing I’ve ever done.
I had 1 cardigan, 3 dresses, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 shirts and 1 pair of linen pants.
I had one pair of PJ’s and two bathing suits, which I washed and rotated (they were separates, so it worked perfectly), one sarong and one pair of fishnet swim pants.
For shoes, I took one pair of neutral slides, black sandals and one pair of water sandals.
Lastly, my straw hat.
Never felt so liberated, as I usually pack as if I will never return home.
This is a very realistic video for normal everyday women/moms.

I love your editing process, you show so clearly how a little time for thoughtful planning makes a big difference. Love to see your process for packing. I am getting better at this process. I recently started doing what you showed us today. I have been an over packer for years 😁. Now when I buy clothes or shoes I am following your advise. Now that my kids have left the house, my husband and I have been going on weekend gate aways and I want to look as amazing as you do in your videos. 💞😍

Excellent practical packing advice, it’s very easy to overpack but we just take hand luggage these days if we’re just going for a week so we’re very limited as to what we can take, but there’s only two of us now so we need much less. Hope you have a wonderful time.
Omg I couldn’t deal with just hand luggage 😂 by the time I’ve sorted shoes and toiletries and a book the hand luggage would be half full! Tbh my camera stuff takes up a decent space as well. I like to have a choice of clothes and tbh once they’ve been worn on a warm day and I’ve sweat them they can’t be worn again. I assume people who take a tiny amount of clothes don’t sweat 🤷🏻♀️ it’s even worse now I’m menopausal 😳

I loved watching this, great advice about the shoes. My problem is I hate most dresses, so I only take one. Wide leg pants and tops are my thing, one bathing suit, one cover up, two shorts, hiking shoes. Pretty much that's it.

Well done fitting this video in Melissa, I am sure it will help people with the packing thought process however I was surprised you would fly in a black leather jacket at this time of year (lovely that it is) and a long white dress?? White not practical for travelling (spills, accidents etc) & the jacket heavy extra for summer plus consider quick emergency exit off a plane (hope that doesnt happen of course) but trousers/jeans always better for climbing through any obstacles and offer more protection. I think your linen co-ords fabulous , I am sure you''ll wear them a lot and I also appreciate your trainer dilemma, both do different things was a good way to describe the choice issue. I love my canvas platform ones too but unless you can wear them to travel in they would cause more packing bulk & weight(another consideration) . My leather is super soft and i'm always that person who is asking for blankets on the plane so I always take it with me but I was particularly pleased i had it with me this time as we had rain for the first two days and then the evenings were quite chilly. I left my canvas trainers at home and the only thing I didn't wear was my jeans - everything else was worn! Thank you for watching x

Keep reminding yourself of what you're actually doing in your clothes and then pack section by section (day time city, daytime safari, evening city, evening safari) and that should keep you on track. Have a wonderful time!
I feel like this is so helpful even in knowing what to add or not to my small wardrobe that also needs to be super practical! I have very limited closet space and space is at a premium.
Brilliant clear concise advice that I have needed so much. Absolutely hate packing I totally stress out and leave to last minute which results in over packing and some bad disasters… once packed only one per of flip flops no other footwear ! 🙈 worse still after unpacking discovered I had even packed my cleaning up clothes complete with bleach marks🙈🙈 will truly follow your guidance now ! That's so funny...the best story i've ever heard is from a client who was giving her hamster a runaround before going on holiday and when she got there the hamster was in her suitcase!!!!😂😂😂😂😂 thank you for watching x
Fab outfits. I love wearing white on holiday but I have to wear fake tan and I find that it ruins my white clothes. I always end up with brown/yellow stains. What do you do for this?
I wish I had the answer to that! I do find that only certain brands rub off on sheets/clothes and usually it’s because it either hasn’t dried fully or you’ve sweated a little. X

Hi! Wonderful video as usual. Could you give an alternative to the wicker-like slides for day time option. I always feel weird when the back of the shoes kind of flaps my heel when I walk.

Very good packing advice Melissa. I've been on holiday here in England for 10 days from Spain. Who knew there would be another heatwave and i would need more summer clothing?! Hope you had a great holiday. I too go rock climbing? Do you climb on rock or in a rocodrome?
On rock but i'm losing my nerve so i only dabble a little bit these days, I leave the harder climbs to my husband and son! I hope you have a lovely time here in sunny England!
I'm rebuilding my wardrobe in prep for a no low buy next year. I also plan on going to Canada(from the southern US) for 3 weeks for my son's first international holiday next spring. This is a great video in prep for that.

I'm back now (i filmed it before and editing it once I was back home). It's a really gorgeous country. Lots of cobbled streets so i'd suggest lots of nice cool outfits that you can wear with flats or comfortable shoes. Have fun!
Great video Melissa! Im currently packing for 5 weeks touring in Italy on trains then coach tour, struggling to be practical as the weather might change towards the end and I do NOT want to look like a tourist 🤔 You look great in all your outfits. Enjoy!
That is difficult to pack for! None crease items and comfy versatile footwear would be at the top of my list for you (some trainers, a comfy sandal and a beach flip flop/slider). Italians are quite sophisticated in their dressing so consider something like a nice pair of capri trousers and a brenton striped top - classic but sophisticated even with white trainers or sandals. I'd take one nice 'evening' dress which can easily be dressed down too. You know where I am should you need any helps, we do 1:1 styling for people all over the world!

A great way to whittle down your items Melissa, thank you for the video. I've not had a 'proper' holiday for years now but I mainly just wore shorts and vests for day with something to cover my top half to protect from the sun if needed and then generally just took about 3 evening outfits and wore them twice. I think I take more toiletries than clothes 😂. Hope you had a fab hols, Croatia is gorgeous x

I would absolutely love it if you’d add a collection of pictures from your holiday and also critique what you took, what you wore and loved, and if there was anything you didn’t wear. Could you have paired this down to a carryon? Do you use an apple airtag so luggage doesn’t get lost?
Hello Kathy. I'm now back so I can answer some of your questions...I have included some of the pictures taken on holiday but most of them had my family in them and so I don't share any pictures of them on any social media platform. I also didn't want my work to over take my family holiday by getting them to take hundreds of pictures of me posing as this too would have eaten into their holiday time. I wore everything i took with apart from the pair of jeans. I don't use apple airtag as I didn't know about it but i'll certainly look into it for next time! Thanks for watching.
Great video. I like the way of selecting the items, lovely clothes. I’m going to Cyprus in a month and don’t really have any nice summer / evening clothes. Im going shopping this Monday. My problem is I’m petite only just under 5 foot and also my shoe size is 2! So I really struggle to buy nice clothes 😢 there aren’t many brands that do petite, all dresses are always too long for me, and I can forget nice pair of shoes 🙁

We have a lot of petite clients and next is good but other than that we use a tailor for them so we can still get the variety of choice. X

OMG you bring A LOT of clothes! My rule is to bring a capsule set that fits into one carry on for a week. How many suitcases do you need? All beautiful choices but what if you could only bring one?
I only take one 23kg suitcase and it all fitted in!

I’m used to traveling with a carryon, and following Travel Fashion Girl guidelines for packing with 5, 10, or 15 items. This is an entire summer wardrobe, but to travel with all this ? Don’t think m strong enough.

I would have loved to see it all packed and what it weighs as well as other items you take like tablets and chargers make up etc
i figured thats the boring bit where my skill set doesn't add much value but I can answer it here; I take one multi-national-way charger that chargers my phone, my hairdryer and my curlers. I don't take any tablets so don't have any need for those. Make-up is no different from what I wear normally which is just mascara, lipstick and some light foundation! I do invest in some nice clarins face suncream but everything else is whatever was on offer in the super market!!

It was CRAZY warm in Croatia this summer. So warm that I could not have even dreamed of wearing any of those pieces. The only thing that made sense was a white linen shirt, which prevents from burning and doesn’t show sweat stains. Bottoms were a pain as I swell in the heat and didn’t fit into any of my shorts, while humidity caused chafing so my favorite skirts were also not comfy anymore.
I've just got back from there Eve and it was for raining for 2-3 days whilst we were there and also got a bit nippy in the evenings - what a different weather experience we both had! Gorgeous place though...
Step one anti chaffing underwear is brilliant for hot sunny days. I have some linen viscose mix long sleeve blouses brilliant for not weather when you don't want to burn.
This is the best packing video I have ever seen and trust me I am always hunting for them. This is realistic and also fun. Wonderful!!!

Anyway I digress, this was so helpful as I am a terrible over-packer, start small but end up taking two large cases.!
I did start to make outfits versatile and then just lost it and took a lot. But now I must be strict week in Turkey, no kids , so can look out for no wits only a week but I must get a grip and am not taking 2 cases.

i took much lesser clothes than this for 1 week getaway. Day and night clothes could be the same on restaurants near the sea which usually doesn’t have dress codes. I only bring flip flops and 1 sandal. Of course, no leather jacket at all.
Such a logical and helpful editing process. I'm usually good at packing, but currently have to pack for a month as a director at a summer debate camp in New Hampshire with a week in Montreal tacked onto the end, so my usual strategy was just a bit overwhelmed with such varied activities for a full 6 weeks away from home that included for both work and play with travel via plane, car, bus, and train with accomodations at college dormitories and nicer hotels! Your logical method really helps me tweak my usual capsule travel stuff to be minimal and flexible.
This is SO helpful. I struggle when I pack and I almost always overpack. Super helpful to hear your process. I'm going to try to follow it for my summer vacation. Thank you for sharing!

Great tips, really helpful thankyou! Every year I plan a capsule packing list and try to stick to neutrals with some pops of colour. I inevitably bring back somethings unworn. However, with shoes I now know I will only wear comfortable ones so only pack 3 pairs max. Too many experiences of the heat making my feet swell and living in flip flops 😄

I do use a glove yes. I moisturise my hands, wursts, elbows and feet first of all then use a glove to apply. X

This was one of the most helpful RUclips videos I've ever watched. I struggle each time I travel to decide what to leave behind. Most often I take it all. I'm heading to Portugal for 10 days in two weeks and this was perfect timing. Thanks so much.

I have a few tips on sandals that don't contain your feet (your feet slip out of). Use silicon clear heel grips on the base of your sandals where your foot meets your toes. That will stop your feet slipping through the band of your sandals. I also use fine bandages (tubes) in skin colour to put around my thong bit of flip flops - could never wear those things until I discovered I could put that round the thong to protect my feet from rubbing. You also get clear silicon guards for thongs, but I prefer the finger bandage tube as it is far softer.

I pack jeans every time (and shorts) and never use them. I cruise mostly. I also ditch the shareware because I am on holiday and suddenly loose my will to care. I more likely to go commando than drag on some spanx.
I’d suggest not packing the things you repeatedly don’t use then!

Now Mellissa will you come & pack for me(joke) thank you for the video going to find this really helpful - especially on the evening wear - I tend to take a pair of shoes & bag with every outfit (not any more) hope you have a fantastic holiday, Croatia is a beautiful country my husband & I went in 1989 before the troubles - we flew into Pula airport which at that time were a military airport & then on to our destination Rabac
I also went when it was Yugoslavia and it's still as beautiful today. Ps. we do 1:1 onlinee styling for people all over the world (or face to face if you're local) so should you ever need help then please do get in touch! x
Sadly not going away but I've done a lot of these tips for quite a while, especially decanting toiletries & saving mini "give aways" off make up brands. I try to make sure that everything goes together so limited shoes needs be taken. When I've got an idea what I'm taking I try everything on & get husband to take pics. I also take a small pc of card with some sewing thread & a needle & a stain wipe in case of accidents. A lightweight shawl goes in my hand luggage & can be used for a cover for a siesta & for visiting holy places or to sit on if only a rock is available. And of course take some plasters lol. I didn't actually. I wore everything apart from my jeans. We had a couple of rainy days and it was quite cool in the evenings so the breadth of clothes really came in handy. Thanks for watching x

I only have a cap or the hat in the photo on the thumbnail to choose from and I take both as I work out in my cap then I wear my sunhat in the sun!
