    2:45 I literally went to Zara yesterday, asfter watching one of your videos, and tried this outfit on. It looked terrible on me, even though I have basically the same coloring as you do. Apparently white shirts don't do a thing for me, and the pants just didn't fit, even though they were my size. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know I tried.

      @@mmpersonalstyling I am a full-on rectangle, and the waist size was perfect, but the hips had a full inch of extra space. I'm very happy to see that you are taking into account that some of your followers are living in warm climates. I'm in California, and although I love your coat and blazer collection and the way they finish an outfit, that concept doesn't work well here. They say that California climate is Fall in the morning, Summer at noon, Spring in the afternoon and Winter in the evening--which makes layering a must. Add to that, living in a beach city we are very casual and it makes looking smart a challenge.

    I love your channel, it has made me think again about styling my clothes after months of jeans and tops, however as a mature lady (I’m a petite 62 but with 32F bust!) I feel some of your items are a bit young for me. Please could you do a video for the older ladies who want to look great but in age appropriate clothes.

      No Sue - I’m 63 and I’d wear most of what Melissa shows - the exception being the sleeveless items as I’m getting a bit self-conscious about my arms. I’ve finally invested in some white fashion trainers and love the way they update my clothes. Mind you, my 84 year old mother bought some a couple of months ago so I didn’t want to get left behind! 😁

    This was just so very helpful in so many ways! Thank you for all your efforts here. TRULY appreciated! I’ve got a bit of that tummy area going on and look good from the front when I do a sort of French tuck but always so big from the side also because of my bigger bust as well, so your tip with the blazer was brilliant. I never heard that from any other stylist here on RUclips yet. Also loved the tips using shoulder pads to balance out the bigger bust and also minimize it with v-necks. Seeing it all visually rather than just hearing it really made such a difference…definitely had a much bigger impact and I was not offended at all by your tummy demonstration ;) Very smart and thoughtful of you, though, to preface it with what you said. You just never know who’s going to get all up in arms, these days, by what you do, don’t do, say, or don’t say 🤦‍♀️. I, personally, would like to thank you, kindly. You just earned a like and a new sub!

    I just had to stop the video to say how much I actually liked you using extra bulking in the video to illustrate your point about disguising a tummy. So often we have tall, slim RUclipsrs telling us how to style things but it’s so different to seeing it in reality. It also shows us how those trousers would look on a person with a little tummy! I wouldn’t ever look at a Zara suit because their trousers absolutely never have enough fabric in the hip, bottom and thigh areas for me, even if by some miracle they did go up to my size (UK 16 on top, 18 on the bottom), but if it were possible to see a reasonably priced suit that was flattering on somebody my shape I would have absolutely no problem buying it in Zara or any other cheap to mid-range shop. I can’t afford designer prices but they rarely sell for above a size 12 anyway so, their loss 🤣 I would pay for quality if it included my shape and size 😉😂 So thank you for showing us, I don’t find it offensive at all!

    I like the scarf down the trousers move! It works! I love your videos! Has anyone else asked about clothes to wear if you have a long body and short legs? I never wear trousers because I have this body type, and I have hypermobility problems with my feet and ankles, which means that I can't wear heels or sandals because I need quite serious orthotic insoles..... I would love to know how to lengthen the leg without wearing heels! I think platforms are a good way to go for extra height, but how would you lengthen the legs with the clothes? I love your videos by the way. You are brightening my February! xxx

      Hello Alice. I had an online client with exactly this issue only the other day. She was using long tops to cover her stomach area which made her torso look even longer and her legs even shorter but it was actually the complete opposite to what she should have been doing. You start by lengthening the legs by tucking in tops (even if only with a little half tuck or side tuck), nude shoes, leg lengthening types of jeans and trousers like boot cuts. Then you need to create a new waist for yourself which will in turn will shorten your torso but will help to put everything else into proportion. If it helps I do online styling sessions where I can very easily sort this issue out for you. All the details are on my website at www.mmpersonalstyling.co.uk/services

    • @wavyjenny602
      @wavyjenny602 2 года назад +1

      What a fabulous and comprehensive answer Melissa has given you! I have a similar issue with shorter legs proportionally, and am very uncomfortable wearing heels above a 2” block heel height, so I am going to try all her tips too! I would also add that I prefer myself in trousers which have a medium to high waist (sometimes high is too much as I’m also short) to make my legs look longer, and if they are bootleg or wider at the bottom and a couple of inches longer than your inside leg this can cover platform shoes or trainers very nicely too. Nude shoes or shoes in the exact same colour as your trousers helps, and if you show your ankle then socks or tights in the same colour as the trouser. I think I also look better in jackets or blazers which are hip-length or shorter, instead of mid-thigh. Or, of course, knee-length or longer. I’m not sure whether these tips are technically what a stylist would suggest, but they seem to work for me!

      @@mmpersonalstyling Thanks! I don't have the cash at the moment for your services, but am working on that problem quite seriously! So in the future, yes! Trinny (London) recommends the long line tops and tunics to elongate the body by dividing into three, and making the upper two thirds into one component, that hides the naturally lower waist. Maybe it works on her because she is very very slim? I think it works on me with a really short dress that has a higher waist (particularly because I've got too much tummy at the moment for anything tucked in). But the long tops and T-shirts do seem to be a terrible idea!

    • @mmpersonalstyling
      @mmpersonalstyling  2 года назад +1

      The problem with that is it’s often depends on where someone’s waistline is and how big that waistline is and if I verbally just talk through this it isn’t as good as visually showing you. In order to visually show you with comparisons I’d need several volunteers in the studio at the same time and that’s harder than you think to organise. Sorry. I have just filmed a how to disguise a larger stomach video and from memory I think I used belts in that. X

As soon as the summer clothes come into our shops then i'm going to focus on how to cover the main problem areas using summer clothes as it's clearly a lot harder because we can't layer up as much!
