I switched from saying that I eat a high carb diet, or a starch based diet to "I eat a high fiber diet" I think that says a lot more, you only get the fiber in whole natural foods for the most part. Most processed foods have much of the fiber removed and most people who eat SAD don't even get the pathetic daily recommended amount of fiber.

Yes the food has changed in the last 5 decades or so but what has also changed is our physical activity since then. Today ppl drive literally everywhere and sit all day at desks. I grew up in the 60 and ppl walked everywhere a lot more. We did not sit all day. Kids played outside all day long too.
    Thanks for the video.

I’m not a vegetarian or a vegan, but my diet is very plant forward. I did flirt with carnivore, keto, and some other diets of that nature, such as Atkins, and they totally blew out my triglycerides. I would much rather go with the diet that I know is tried, and true, which includes a lot, and I do mean a lot of vegetables.

Between McDougall, Greger, Goldhamer, and Fuhrman, exists the PERFECT human diet. If you cycle your diet between those doctors' recommendations, you're just about as sure to be eating an ideal diet as possible.
My menu for today (family of three adults):
small red beans cooked creamy cajun style with bell peppers, jalapeño peppers, onions, garlic, celery, and liquid smoke
choice of white rice, brown rice, or fresh bread
steamed broccoli and/or fresh greens with lemon-dill vinaigrette
roasted sweet potatoes, yukon gold potatoes, and/or red potatoes
choice of tomato onion salsa, or ripe whole avocado
    cantaloupe or baked apples
lol, I don't cook that much every day but I felt the urge for some reason;)

I’ve gone back and forth on my stance on carbs (I mostly only eat brown rice and organic oats). But like ALL health topics on the net, there’s so much conflicting evidence.
I’m currently experimenting. For the last 2 weeks I’ve only been eating meat and veg (snacking on fruit, nuts, Greek yoghurt and eggs). So a high protein, very low carb.
I can say I’ve lost noticeable fat on my body. I haven’t had hunger spikes and my energy levels have been more consistent. I’ll be trying this out for another month or 2.
But everyone is different. I think there isn’t one diet that fits all, you have to experiment and learn your body.

Excellent summary and I have been living it for the last 4 months after getting a diagnosis of pre-diabetes. I spent a couple of months first in complete confusion before sorting it out and determining that the bulk of scientific studies were on the side of the whole food plant based diet. Then another couple of months to get enough recipes learned to start being consistent, My morning fasting glucose started around 115-125 most days to now around 95 most days - no longer in a pre-diabetic range. I am enjoying the food and have lost 15 pounds effortlessly which is all I had to lose as I never was very overweight. But love your shows, your recipes (love the starch blaster) are easy and delicious. Thanks for the good advice - it has worked for me. By the way, I eat all I want and never feel hungry. This way of eating is very satisfying.

I truly appreciate your message. I think it is valuable for most of the population, but it is important that you mention there are exceptions to the rule. Please consider the people who are Type 1 where your pancreas quits working (not Type 2) who are affected by all carbs even if they are whole food, plant based. We still need to consider and count every carb - every bite of every day. Yes, more fiber and less fat makes the carb count spike less, but the number is still a factor. It is very difficult to find WFPB recipes that are filling with low carbs. It would be amazing to have a full week of meals that keeps a person full with low carb options. So, I guess I am challenging you to come up with a meal plan that would satiate you and Reebs with less than 140g carbs/day. If you can do this, I would be so happy to remain a member of your show to get all the cooking shows. I truly appreciate what you share with quick meal ideas to make healthy eating more sustainable, but please remember that some people have additional constraints that make it even harder. Thank you.

I think it's sad when carbs are termed as potatoes, bread, beans, when in fact, carbs are EVERYTHING that isn't fat or protein. Carbs are NOT a food group. Carbs are a macronutrient, just like fat and protein. Protein isn't a food group, either. Yes, meat has protein, but then again, most food has protein in it. Ok. Off my soapbox.

Nothing wrong with bread if it’s as whole as possible. Just higher in calorie density so if weight loss is the goal then that should be kept in mind. I like the Ezekiel with the blue label, no added salt.

I eat over 500 grams of carbs daily. There are no unhealthy sugar spikes or diabetes. It is critical to know that my carbs are healthy, whole carbs that and they are not in processed foods. I know you'd rather have Dillon's response, but I'm very sure he eats the a similar amount and would say the same about diabetes and sugar: no problems.
The closest I eat to processed foods are black beans, which have the following ingredients:

I also will be purchasing lower or no salt canned black beans.

The Ezekiel 4:9 bread is the best bread I have found. Its made from sprouted wheat kernels and a bunch of other sprouted grains. FLOURLESS but delicious. I like the one in the orange bag the best. I don't eat a lot of bread but when I do, it's what I get. It's not gluten free, but I'm not gluten intolerant. Ezekiel 4:9 also makes a raisin bread, a low sodium bread and a flax bread. Major grocery store chains will have it in the freezer department. It is expensive but so worth it. Some people like Dave's Killer bread but it's too sweet for me.

I agree TOTALLY to what said!!! Expect for the age... I want to live up to 150+ years ol... young! heehee!
I've been a Whole Food Plant-Based Vegan for ~7 years. I started for WFPB eating for my health for my stroke and aphasia (I got buried down on research, studies, and evidence-backed videos), but animal cruelty, environment and pandemic were not far behind. AND I've watched RUclips videos (of course, Well Your World, as well as PCRM, Nutritionfacts, vegan doctors,
Earthling Ed, Jamie's Corner 😉, etc) and read all the books and documentaries on vegan and plant-based medical fields (What The Health, The Game Changers, Seaspiracy, Dominion, "How Not To Age" book, etc.... well, all of them! You've got one I need to see/read, send it my way!).

    • @mikafoxx2717
      @mikafoxx2717 5 месяцев назад

It was RUclips that made me realize keto was bunk and it was Earthling Ed and Dominion that made me reconsider ever eating animals again despite almost living off them in the past. I could see exceptions for the very unlikely cases but unless I'm starving in the wild or deficient, I really don't see a reason to.
