The Pepsi GMT is NOT going anywhere. Rolex doesn't have to worry about "manipulating demand" for a watch that is already one of its most in-demand models.

Hopefully the Coke is an add-on to the lineup instead of a replacement. Rolex periodically discontinues watches that are selling just fine, and it’d be a shame to see the Pepsi get the axe.

@@Chrono24Officialwho cares, it's not like you can walk in and buy one at an AD anyways so this is all pointless. And as a basic steel watch with a brass dial, it is absolutely not worth the market price that the grey is demanding (sub $20k 😂). Absolutely laughable. I'll pay 20k+ for a precious metal GMT all day no problem, but for steel Pepsi or if a new steel coke GMT comes out, the grey market prices are an absolute joke. It's stainless steel people! 😂

They manufacture 1.2 million watches a year. All in house. And suddenly, in a market downturn, they can’t manufacture one of their most iconic models. Unless perhaps, this is a way of grey market living off rumours…making a few thousand more on false scarcity? My money is on false scarcity. They don’t need to open up another slot. They make twice as many watches as Omega. It’s laughable. It’s pure hype, nothing less.

I’m looking at my 20 yo 16710 black that has had over 3000 wearing and still less than 2 s/d fast. I got it after my wedding.
It has witnessed to many important events in my life and has … uh…character lines to show. Once, I almost had to bartered it with a non English speaking bush pilot to get out of a very sticky situation in SE Asia, but fortunately nothing travel as well as crisp 100 usd’s. My ex even “borrowed” it for a few years, but she’s more intimidating than everyone I have dealt with, lol.
Sadly it’s no longer the dumb reach daily for the last few years because of the brand and the annoying attention.
Anyway, just sharing a little bit about how timepieces can become witness to our lives.
    Nice conversation and happy journeys.

Or just don't get a Rolex.... the wait lists, the secrecy with the ADs, the price hikes, and just the general attitude I hv gotten at several Rolex ADs has just turned me off to the brand completely. I have kind of moved on to other things Glashuette original, Vacheron, JLC. They all make a watch that is every bit (and in a lot of ways superior) to anything in Rolexes catalog. And if you are wearing one of these there is no doubt that you are deep into the watch hobby. So many times, over the years I have met someone with a Rolex on and they were scarcely aware of the significance of the brand. Instead, it served simply as a status symbol. No, I for one could care less about will they or won't they on the Pepsi or a white dialed explorer or any other rumors. I wanted a Rolex for the longest time (the air king explorer or yes, a Pepsi GMT, but I'm just over it...

Can't believe the sentiment you two are providing here. What happened to the John Mayer Daytona or the legendary Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 after they were discontinued? The price of both plummeted hard! It's definitely not the time to buy a Pepsi since that's what every grey dealer want you to do so they can profit on you! Consumers also developed the Rolex fatigue at this point as many were treated like trash at the AD when asking for a professional model. This is not 2021 anymore. People are moving to something else. That's why more than 50% of Rolex lineup is now under retail. Rolex was never a premium price brand. It was always available at deep discounts. I could get any GMT or Sub at 15% off before all the helicopter money and artificial demand.

    • @Odat

You could also get a discount on AP and Patek back then. Things have changed since then. Sure demand for most models has gone down but the demand for the sports steel watches is still nuts!. U doubt you’ll ever be able to get a discount on those in the future. MSRP is the discount.

I do think the Pepsi is leaving. At the moment Rolex are having difficulties making a consistent shade of red and have citied that many of the bezels are broken in production. I'm sure many break in servicing as well. I don't suspect they will bring it the Coke because going from one variation of red to another would be too predictable. If anything I see them going with the all black bezel.
