People gotta consider what they’re doing to the engine. If you increase the bore for example, you are physically removing metal from the cylinder bore in the engine block. In real life, this cannot be undone. Once you machine a part, you can’t feasibly un-machine it. Adding parts can be undone, but physically changing a part can’t.
If you’re ever unsure, read the description of what every item or process in the shop is.

Have never arrived at the situation of having to buy a new engine as of yet (did wonder what the point was) but it would seem this issue you describe, for the most part, will impact NA platforms given most of your horsepower gains come from engine internals. Don't know if you've experimented with it yet but I'd wager the output thresholds for aspirated engines (provided by the power restrictor and ballast) probably reduce into the appropriate power output & PP brackets most of the time (since switching an upgraded turbo package is the quickest way to reduce a good chunk of your bhp & PP which'll give you much more leeway)? Anyway, appreciate the explanation of what the fresh engine is all about but you're right, it makes sense to be able to at least keep the original engine you've spent so many credits on - seems harsh to have to lose it completely when replacing.

    • @PS5GamingHub1986
      @PS5GamingHub1986 2 года назад

Was thinking the same. If you increase the displacement/stroke on a real life engine it’s not like you can take that away.
Bolt ons are one thing, but internals are another. It would be nice if you could take out said engine and put it aside though (like the Forza games) rather than buy a new standard engine every time to tune accordingly.

This goes with weight reduction as well, adding weight with ballasts can only counter weight restrictions so much. If you have a car with weight reduction and engine tuning and use ballasts and power restriction to lower its hp and weight to the same as before, it will have a good chunk more pp. This also works in reverse, you need to reduce the power and weight even more to get it back to the same pp it was before.

You have a good point actually you have a great point this game is meant to be as realistic as possible the people saying that you can just detune it are the ones that do not modify their vehicles in real life it takes a lot of money and a lot of time to put on internal parts onto an engine you cannot just take them off whenever you feel like it it just doesn't work that way any supporting mods that you add on outside of the engine can always be taken off

  • @petey9232

Great vid. I'd also be curious to see how the power scales with the restrictor and more specifically the cpu. I have a feeling that restricting the power scales it down more and makes the car behave differently compared to, for instance, buying the removable parts and just taking them off and scaling down to a smaller degree. I detuned a 911 yesterday to 70-70 and the top end was non existent, even though the bhp wasn't particularly low. So I think for online it's best to avoid these irremoveable parts entirely.

You can go back n fourth to between power restriction and ecu. They take away power differently, ecu will lower the peak power while the restrictor will limit rpm and will change your power band, therefore changing your shift times and makings you slower. I personally don't see it as something requiring a fix. there's a sense of realism to it, the items that can't be 'removed' are ones which would be irreversible in real life.
I'd see it as an issue if there was only one car that could top the podium, but there are plenty of ways to win any given race and I don't think these untunable parts are ever really the only option. in an absolute worst case scenario - when you really really want to use a specific car for a specific race and you have already bought these parts, AND, you have only a tiny amount of credits - you're probably looking at about 30 mins single player time to get enough credits to either buy a new engine or new version of the car. it doesn't feel too much of a hindrance to me if I'm honest.
given monetisation is a way for developers to offer a longer shelf-life of a game with DLC, then personally I am comfortable with it being there. it still remains a choice whether to use real-world money, albeit I do recognise that companies invest lots of cash into psychology to try and beef up in-game purchases, so it's naive to assume no-one ever gets exploited unfairly with these things

I Put the car back up to 100% and used ballast to bring the pp down to the limit. My times were lower by about a 1/2 second. Despite the added weight, I was hitting a higher top speed.

Again you are correct. You can’t remove some parts. So either you buy more than one car and set them up for different races, expensive but possible. Or they put out an option to allow you to have different engines for one car or they let you have a big parts list and you just pick what parts you want on the car for that race, as you do for real race cars. They have different set up sheets but they still don’t take care of the unremovable engine parts or body mods. Like all new games, things need a tweak here or there. GT 7 is still an improvement over 6 but disappointing we are possibly looking down the pay to win barrel like we did in some other titles.

Hmmm you would think that this is kinda understood… if you perform engine mods like port polish, increase bore and stroke and any other internal engine modifications, they are not bolt on parts. You literally increase the the size of cylinders or the cylinder bore by milling metal out of the engine block. That’s a permanent change! To rectify the issue on a real car as well you would need a new engine block to go back to stock…. Maybe they can add like a pop up message/ warning in the game like this change/modification can’t be undone or removed, do you still want to perform this mod to the transaction before you ok it?

Then use the saved duplicate settings and purchase what you want and work from that. Then duplicate the original settings again to try a student set up . Then make a copy of that setting = Copy: stock. Before buying any new parts or upgrades make sure you are on the Copy: stock setting before you buy. Now after you buy upgrades and added parts the Copy: stock should reflect those upgrades and added parts.
But when you select the regular stock setting it should have everything removed as a saved setting. If I'm not mistaken it seems to work from me trying it at least. I just make copies of the stock and tinker with editing different iteration settings to match certain specs or race qualification criteria. Hopefully that makes better sense, and hopefully it is something that works.

Then you have the "tuner" car where you up the displacement or adda racing crankshaft. Hell, I've got 5 '81 911 Turbo's in various setups, some with Wide Body, some with stock engines, one that has every engine upgrade possible.
Having duplicate cars makes a lot more sense than buying a new engine or body given the cost of a new engine + body is the same as buying another car.

Unrelated but the S-10 license test seems a bit brutal after none of the time attacks feature wet track but then in 10 you’re faced with an old lemans porche on race hards and track that’s wet off the racing line… virtually guaranteed that you fail if you stray from the racing line at all instead of the punishment being that you’re slower around the lap.
I haven’t even made it all the way around yet and I’ve tried it 13 times. All the others I got through in one or two goes but spa with wet track seems like it’s a bit unfair. DEAR Polyphony here is some suggestion:
    - We should be able to buy new engine but keeping the remplaced engine as an option(with its tuning parts as well). We could then choose between engines (charge for the swap I don't mind)
    - VGT are not road vehicule. I find it annoying to see that cyber car from the future is dominating the time tables while it doesn't even exist.
    - Please bring back datas from racing lobbies at the end of the race (fastest lap at least)
    - There should be 4 daily races (2 BOP and 2 with tuning) (what do you guys think?)
    - We should be able to sell cars to the used dealership. And the car inventary should rotate a bit faster... still waiting to find another R32
BESIDE THAT GAME IS SUPREME!! Love how the car physics were changed from GTSPORT to something a bit more realistic

Usually you can downgrade the car low enough to return to original power. A GT3 RS at 295 bhp is an extreme case and might not even be the ideal car for the event.
However, some upgrades shift your powerband. When upgrading engine with unremovable parts it's best to prioritize things like engine balance. A peaky engine can be fixed with restrictor, up to a certain point.
When dropping weight it's a good idea never to buy weight reduction upgrades that drop more than 200 kg (max ballast value) unless the car needs the lower weight. Still, weight reduction is always useful because you can use ballast to rebalance the car (as you showed in another video).
