Many years ago in high-school, my two classmates and I sang this song for a French performance program. We unfortunately didn’t have a karaoke version of the song and our initial idea of singing along with the CD was scrapped at the last minute. We sang it a cappella. Just us three, marching in place, each one of us singing the verses individually, then the chorus together in unison, along with sword, gun and flag in hand. We were nervous and didn’t know how the judges would rate our performance. But in the end, they bestowed us golden honors, the highest grade that each performance group could obtain. Truly unforgettable. Viva la France!
