"I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
I used to roll the dice
Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes
Listen as the crowd would sing
"Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
...
It was the wicked and wild wind
Blew down the doors to let me in
The shattered windows and the sound of drums
People couldn't believe what I'd become
Revolutionaries wait
For my head on a silver plate
I'm just a puppet on a lonely string
Oh who would ever want to be king?
Now I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing
Roman Calvary choirs are singing
Be my mirror, my sword and shield
Missionaries in a foreign field
For some reason I can't explain
I know Saint Peter won't call my name
Never an honest word
That was when I ruled the world..."

I think I had an extracorporeal experience. Thank you so much, GaroStudios! In years and years that I follow you, you've always hit my chords!
Liberté, Égalité, fraternité.... Vive la France. ❤❤❤🇫🇷
For anyone interested in the song's background, Viva La Vida is Coldplay's interpretation of King Louis XVI’s perspective on THE French Revolution (1789 - 1799).
Although the lyrics don't necessarily fit with the events in Les Misérables, since the book/movie takes place from 1815 to 1832. I believe the gist is still there for the spirit of revolution and portraying the revolutionaries as heroes, even though The June Rebellion was a failed attempt to revert the establishment of the July Monarchy
Well in fact the book talks precisely of the years 1833 to 1835..
@@maestyasaes8368 Still need to properly read the book, but the book, if my memory serves me correctly, ranges from 1815 to 1832. I believe 1833 - 1835 was covering after the events of the 1832 June Rebellion. Again, I only know the gist of when the events take place since Victor Hugo covers alot of details, even the history of the Parisian sewers
Les Mis takes place during the Paris Commune, not the June Revolution which again took place in the yeat 1848.
@@fourthinternationalist_1917 Not fully sure where you're getting this information, but wasn't the Paris Commune in 1871? The book was published in 1862 and the book starts after the Battle of Waterloo (18 June 1815)
ALSO: The June Days Uprising was in 1848 (Jun 22, 1848 - Jun 26, 1848), which is the revolution you are referring to. I am referring to the June Rebellion (Jun 5, 1832 - Jun 6, 1832).
@@TheFoxofKnowledge coldplays viva la vida is amazing and is probably their most popular song! i went to a concert of theirs at soldier field chicago and viva la vida has the entire crowd not a single person not singing the "o-o-oooooo-o-o-ooooo" and trust me i was the person in that crowd too.
As a French, that went straight to my heart.
So many chills TTwTT
