How to make the best spaghetti 'ai frutti di mare' with Guido & son Pietro | Pasta Grannies

- You're gonna love fishermen Guido and Pietro's classic recipe for spaghetti ai frutti di mare, seafood spaghetti (I'll film their nonna next time). The key is the freshness of the fish and seafood, which they catch themselves. To cook it yourself, first make friends with your fishmonger. Then you'll need around 500g decent spaghetti pasta, 400g filleted fish, diced, 400g clams, 300g mussels, 300g prawns, de shelled, heads kept, 500g cherry tomatoes, quartered, one small onion, 2 garlic cloves crushed, 1 sprig rosemary, a good handful of parsley, 1 red chilli (to taste), a glass of white wine.
And their fish-to-plate Agriturismo is now open, if you happen to be in Corniglia, Liguria. Check them out on Instagram. @cinqueterre_sp4488 (the name of their boat is SP4488) - Кино
This series is therapy for crappy workdays.
Indeed!
Yep
Most Italian men are very comfortable around a kitchen and some are excellent cooks. The great variety and freshness of ingredients also helps to achieve superb dishes. Very rarely Italian families eat prepackaged meals. Making a meal out of a few and simple ingredients is what I grew up with.
My grandfather was a good cook, better than my grandmother according to my father.
Many italian men know how to cook but then many of them don't want to do it.
@@FC-hj9ub even the hardcore murdering mafia guys were cooking in prison in goodfellas
@@FC-hj9ub That's because they have fragile masculinity
@@fanglee498 so sick of this "mafia reference". Enough!
Another gem of an episode. A father and son cooking together is a welcome sight.
What's this? A pasta daddy?
I am here for it! 😍 That spaghetti looks incredible.
Kakakaakakakkka
He´s a transgender and transage pasta granny, I guess! LOL
:D
I like how comfortable the men are with the cooking. Even if they dont do it every day, they are clearly doing it often enough to explain what and why they are doing what they are doing. There is no "well I did the fishing, you've got to do the cooking!" (it's almost "I did the fishing, who knows the fish better than me?" :))
Okay everyone, here are the ingredients for the best seafood spaghetti dish ever : gorgeous vegetables and herbs, gorgeous fish, gorgeous location, gorgeous views, gorgeous olive oil, gorgeous man (older) another gorgeous man (younger) ..... did I miss anything ? Must learn more about that wine made with grapes soaked in sea water, sounds interesting! Vicky and team, wish you could shoot some videos with small local producers of different Italian food products, and have them show your viewers how to use their products in a dish. With that wind and probably thunder I hope it did not rain on you all. Great video, will watch again. :)
Hello Souad, yes you are right: for a dish to be the 'best ever' needs more than top quality ingredients. And given the popularity of Guido and Pietro, I'll do more research into small producers. 😊🌺 best wishes, Vicky
Love this son who seems happy to follow in his father's foosteps! Great parenting.
These two are more Pasta Hotties than Pasta Grannies....
same thoughts!))) Raw sexapeal in natural habitat :)
New series: Pasta Hotties? Pasta Boys? 😂❤️
If those were two women, commenting on them being hot would be considered sexist. There would be responses like, “How dare you focus on their looks and not their skills!” Actually, I don't think anyone here would even dare to comment on their looks in the first place. Just sayin', we live in a strange world with double standards like that …
@@boruttrost5750 you may always say a compliment to person but, another`s reaction is out of my responsibility! I`m just trying to say smth nice, the truth and only if it was requested or if I can`t keep silent coz it is too emotional :)
@@anastasiyaremez8997 I hear you girl! Raw sex appeal gets me all emotional as well ;)
From sea to table, Guido is the MAN! This was an epic episode. Just stunning. Thank you so much for this!
So pleased you liked it Nancy 😊🌺 best wishes, Vicky
Well, that was a treat for young and old alike! I’m not sure what he was cooking because I wasn’t paying attention, but it will be no hardship to watch him again! Thank you very much xxx
pietro's face and knife skills improved my day in about 67%
and his strong pair of arms haha
This is true Italy! True Italian food! True Italian men! love
I loved every second of this episode! What joy they have and love of the sea and food! And Pietro is definitely a tall drink of water . . . 😉
Bless his son who is also cooking! Love the food! Bless this family ❤
I am so jealous, what a beautiful and simple dish of fresh seafood pasta. Catching your daily meal and using home grown ingredients. So much better than any Michelin star restaurant.
Now that’s an ultimate Mediterranean experience! It’s amazing to see my favourite pasta and my favourite place in the world, Manarola, in one video! 💙 🍝
Lovely Italian curls on both gents!
I love this dish. One of my favourite pasta dishes to make, and I often go to my local fishmonger and pick up whatever is freshest, bring it home and cook it. Very easy to make.
I have loved your Pasta Grannies videos, but this one! This one almost made my cry! This will be a Classic. The sea, the vongole, the calamari, the pesce! And to see these handsome men cook the meal! Bravissimi! I just got back from an "ocean fix" in California and had only dreamed of such a meal (which I never got). Alas, there are no fresh fish in New Mexico. I can only watch this video again and again!
Interesting that Guido said "prepariamo UN SPAGGHETTO ai fruiti di mare" - rather than the plural spaghetti. Just charming.
Lovely! Even though they aren't grannies it is still a refreshing video of sea to table with father and son. Adorable. The world needs more of this.
This was such a delight to watch! For so many reasons!
First of all because we not often get to see gentlemen at work preparing a meal on this channel. And these gentlemen did it with such skill and confidence and knowledge that it was a true pleasure. And I love how Guido and Pietro have such a great relationship and how they look like each other and have the same curly hair.
It is such a shame I will probably never get to taste their wonderful seafood pasta, because it looked delicious!
Bravo! ❤️
Why never ?! All you need is a plane ticket to Rome and only a few hours' drive and you get to meet them all and enjoy their great food! That's a restaurant kitchen they have. I'm sure they would love to welcome you at their "agriturismo". Cheers.
I'm glad you enjoyed Guido and Pietro; I like to film 'non Grannies' when there's a good story or a particular skill. I hope you do manage to visit Italy 😊🌺 best wishes, Vicky
I love the surprise when sometimes the episode is Pasta Families. Thanks for another great video.
New, #1 favourite episode!
Hard to top those pizza and focaccia episodes but you did it!
Quite literally the best farm-to-table episode. That seafood broth mixed with wine has me salivating.
Thank you Vicky and the Pasta Grannies team for a great experience.
Hi Greg, yup I'm not sure how we're going to top this one either! I am glad you enjoyed it 😀🌺 best wishes, Vicky
What a beautiful, fresh, inspired dish. Thank you to the Pasta Papas!
What a fantastic episode. Loved watching Guido process the fish. How lucky to live in the beautiful Cinque Terre!
I love love love ... what I wouldn't give to take a trip to Italy!!! I love seeing the scenery as much as watching the food be prepared!!!
Gosh. I can almost taste this seafood pasta! Thank you, Pasta Grannies - this reminds me of when I spent 5 glorious days in Cinque Terre ♥️
I have been binge watching this channel for a week and absolutely love it. It's very nostalgic and comforting, not to mention it has gotten to point I don't have to read the subtitles anymore 😆😍. Spanish and Italian are extremely similar and often catch myself practicing new words I've been learning wherever I am at lol
that's good to hear! Also it sounds like you are a good linguist 🙂🌺 best wishes, Vicky
@@pastagrannies Thank you Vicky for your lovely comment. I grew up speaking Spanish because my family is from Mexico, so it's kind of easy to learn similar languages
Complimenti per il bellissimo e buonissimo piatto preparato da Guido e Pietro! Quando cucinano gli uomini apportano spesso una nota speciale ! 👌🌻 🤗
Gli uomini sono sempre il meglio💪💪
What a beautiful life these fine people live by the sea. It’s just unbelievable how lovely the area is. I could only dream of a place like this. We have our moments of joy here as well but when winter comes hard with some days at 50 below zero with the windchill factor, you dream of the summer days out in the garden picking fresh vegetables and herbs. This was very enjoyable to watch and I can only imagine how delicious this food tasted. We get fresh fish here with one of the best being Walleye and Bluegills and my husband and brothers go sit on the ice or in their fish house. Everyone must be proud of their own culture and ways of life. It’s the variety of people and places that makes this world so wonderful.
From México! The Best pasta ever!! Thank You
Watched this again....Vicky, thank you for transporting us to such wonderful places to meet such wonderful people! Not to mention the wonderful food!
Our pleasure, Frank! Happy New Year to you. best wishes, Vicky
Delicious. Yum. I’ve always like this type of cooking and open air is fantastic! Pietro is also easy in the eyes !
Guido is not too bad either!
Simple & stunning. That would be a contender as choice for a final meal.
reminds me of sitting on deserted white coral beaches on the West coast of Scotland making a very similar dish with freshly caught produce. I can just taste those buttery clams & sweet langoustines.
That must have been a great afternoon, hope you all had fun.
hi James, I agree - the seafood off Scotland is world class, but I'd need thermals to sit on the beach for any length of time, plus insect repellent! 😀🌺 best wishes, Vicky
I am pure Ligurian on my father's side. I watch this and feel at home. I can smell the air, and feel the earth and sea on my bare feet. Liguria is home.
I just love this project, and it's amazing to think of the depth and variety of traditions that keep this series running. These videos remind me to cherish the important things in life such as our families and communities, nature and it's fruits, wisdom of our ancestors and the joy of humble labor.
Thank you so much Vicky and the team
Hello Aviv I'm delighted Pasta Grannies fans appreciate videos the way you do, 😊🌺 best wishes, Vicky
I am in love with Pietro!
Dude you're in love with every guy in this channel.
Choose one! 😅
@@doctordoom02 Not every guy. Only the HOT and YOUNG men,
That mussel cleaning technique is pure genius
But damn pietro looks soooo cute hehe
Bravissimo! - this is the best recipe for spaghetti ai frutta di mare! I saw you guys on the Liguria episode of Searching for Italy with Stanley Tucci - so happy you are getting the attention you deserve.
I love that you show all that precedes the cooking.
That just looks so amazing. I don't know why you can't get this sort of seafood dish here in New Zealand. It's either all Pacific rim or traditional NZ food. I am so leaving for Italy xxx
One of the best episodes ever..stress buster
Absolute genius! I am overwhelmed with delight!!!
This looks like it deserves a michelin star!
I just love the way you say "passta" Grannies.... This was delightful...wished I was there with you to eat everything with you guys !!!!
My Friday has been brightened ! Thank you Vicky!
Pietro, the son, is gorgeous......
Questa è l'Italia...l'Italia, quella vera..
My god.. I’m drooling.. Both for that seafood pasta & those beautiful men!
😂😍😋😜❤️☮️✌️
Oh my goodness, I enjoyed this so much. The men were gorgeous and the food was gorgeous. So awesome to see all the fresh veg and ingredients.
I had difficulty reading the white text of the subtitles against the light background so I missed half of what their commentary.
Oh wow! This was so interesting and enjoyable. Father and son and a wonderful delicious feast. What a beautiful area to live in. I wish I lived closer to the ocean, and for that great fresh fish so readily available. Great video!
Our local fresh meat / seafood market had wonderful fresh mussels today, tomorrow I am going to try combining the french recipe for moules á la Normande with pasta, already looking forward to it
Lots of ingredients from the sea, and they're all fresh and well-prepared. No wonder it's delectable
This was making my mouth water! I can't even imagine how delicious that tastes!

Absolutely delightful! Thank you for this marvelous video.
OMG my mouth is watering. This is what dinner is all about, so fresh, so good! Wow, wish I were there. ❤🇮🇹
OH, MY, granny never looked like that! Simply Scrumptious!!!
Although I missed “the grannies”, what a wonderful episode! Thank you for sharing!
What an absolutely spectacular story and video! Absolutely loved their energy and passion for the ingredients, flavors, and experience. Makes me wish I were over there in Cinque Terre to experience it with them myself!
hi Stephen I am delighted you enjoyed it 😊🌺 best wishes, Vicky
Loved this episode! If I could only have some of that delicious dish!!
Bellisimo! What a treat! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼🦐🦑🐟🍝
one of the best videos ever made
More like Pasta Papaw...🤣🤣😍😍
Seafood is always the best the less time there is between when it comes out of the water and when it goes into the pot!
I know I'm ready to get married, I just need to meet Pietro, in person.
Thanks for sharing. Recreated this amazing dish with my local fresh seafood and received lots of compliments.
Speechless and drooling 🤍 🤤
Mi piace un sacco
buonissimi gli spaghetti allo scoglio!😍
You have the best job in the world!

Grandiosas es la comida italiana 🇮🇹
Yum, pasta looks good too 😉
Pasta DADDY.
While I don't care for seafood, everything looks so fresh & good; my favorite part was how much you enjoyed it!
Looks amazing!
This is just beautiful. I am honestly moved by how poetic and connected to the food Guido is. 🤍
I cooked it for Christmas eve, I adapted putting the cherry tomatoes at the end and made it with clams, scallops and prawns. It was delicious !
Grazie
Hi Selene yes, definitely - I'm delighted it was a success - and happy holidays! best wishes, Vicky
I hope I look like the dad when I get to his age. The guy is a silver fox
This is the Life!!!! Healthy living, wonderful location, economic freedom.
The American dream.
And I have to travel to the other side of the world to find it.
The italian economy doesn't allow everyone to open the business they deserve

Looks delicious!
Can't wait to stay there💗💗💗
Ms. Vicky, this recipe looks delicious & they are not just great fisherman, but they could be professional chefs. Mullet is very popular in Appalachia, but we smoke them on red oak wood, put them in a cooler & eat them that way. We always have fresh garden vegetables, please let them know great job, God bless everyone
hi Steve, mmm smoked mullet sounds delicious; I've never tried it. 🌺😊 best wishes, Vicky
@@pastagrannies Ms. Vicky, it is delicious & although we prefer it cooled off, it is also delicious warm. I'm sure you can find one of those great fisherman that can cook to make you some. It doesn't have to be smoked on red oak wood, but just a mild wood to smoke with, I think you'll love the smoked mullet, God bless you all.
I felt like watching Luca the movie but in real life, Guido is Massimo
WOW! So envious!
This looks too good!
Ricetta buonissima 👍🤗❤️😘
