You assembled the lower end without putting crank pin lock nut plates on crank pin. Good way to do a rebuild again soon.
Hi Tatro, are those casese painted/cleaned/sandblasted?? They look great
At 18:40 in the video you checked the crankshaft end play. You pushed it back and forth and I heard it clunk.
Will the Assembly of the timing cover and Associated gearing reduce that?
sure hope not. you want clearance or the motor will bind up and eat itself up.

Hey Tatro, Bet your military bike would run better times with two carbs on it.
no case paint to counter the porosity of that early motor cases?
no, i don't use it.
tatro
do you check to see if the crank is balanced
not always and i don't remember on this old build. truing is by far the most important thing when it comes to motor assembly. that is why i always check the alignment of the crank before i put a mot together.
tatro
Almost sounds like President Bush behind the camera.
why is there a red mark on the case, does that need to be ground off
that is where i highlighted the case scraper to see if the crank was hitting the case. i probably had a crankshaft rub when i 1st mocked up the motor.

At 7:30 you put something on the pinion shaft side but the camera man moved. What is it that you put in before you bolted the cases together 🙏🏼
either a screw in plug or a brass plug. it seals the end of the oil gallery so that the crank will oil correctly.
tatro
Are these cannonball cases or machine tech
Is threebond the same as yamabond? Looks the same.....
no but they work the same.
tatro
where can I buy new studs? is there a part number or site?
tnx
email me you wants and needs.
tatro
What is the white goo?
3 bond
Three Bond 1104?
I need crank bearing cages for my 48, do you have a part number?
that is what the parts books are for. they also show every part used and most of the time the order they are assembled in.
tatro
@@TatroMachine I have tried to order them from every parts dealer I can find and they don't list them.
you did not try tatro machine. email.

Why not use the 54 only pinon bearings, You increase bearing support by 20% and accomplish your agenda of a split bearing on the pinion bearing that you profess to be an advocate of,
as i recall the -54 bearing is just a sportster bearing that was used thru 1957 on the panhead motors. i lie that shaft because it uses the later oil pump drive gears and the solid bolt on pinion gear.
tatro
@@TatroMachine The 55-57 panhead used the long narrow bearing with a different pinion shaft. The 54 only bearing can be retrofitted to the earlier pinion shaft.
The retrofit just changes out a .600 bearing and .120 inch thick spacer with two .360 long bearings. The very same bearings that goes in the star hub.
@@TatroMachine Just interested in why you think the bolted in pinion is better.
