  • A unique insight into a charismatic and elusive man: ruthless in a race car, surprisingly open and warm-hearted with friends and family in Brazil. An intensely spiritual man is revealed by his intimate reflections: most poignantly about the ever-present danger of death in his chosen profession. The Real Ayrton Senna - as he has never been seen before.

Looking in retrospect I really think that he had the ambition of being president of Brazil. He built a connection with Brazilians that was really impressive. I was 12 when he passed away and now at 42 I still have a deep interest in his personality. I think he knew that what makes Brazil an eternal "development country" is not only corruption (which plays a big part), but a huge amount of incompetence of our ruling elite. Being rich extremely COMPETENT and popular as he was, he could have won a election very, very easily.

His death made many Brazilians stop watching F1, for us it lost all the fun. You can understand his connection with his country by how he won the Brazilian GP, he had won every thing but never on his country, the car got stuck on 6th gear but he kept going, by the end of the race he couldn't move his arms (and the audio of him celebrating is amazing). He started a foundation that keeps helping children even after his death. His funeral was unbelievable, a casket with his helmet on top of it, the country stopped. It's hard to put everything on words. He made us very proud.

Then I realized that by inspiration anyone who wishes to can do that. That's what's so great about inspiring people - they teach us how to do the same, and they don't need to have children to do that. This man would have had such a big impact on his country: social justice, organic food production, education... this documentary is from late 80's early 90'S and whatever is talking about his now the standards. He doesn't have to be loud to literally catch our attention. So soft spoken. Brasil has lost his best ambassador.

This is some of the most illuminating footage of Ayrton I’ve ever seen, and shows he was just as great a man as he was a racing driver. And given what he achieved, that really is saying a lot about him. His humility and humanity really come across in this film. I don’t know why, but racing drivers of his era seem so much more authentic as people, and he towered above most of them. Thanks for sharing...

I’ve known good people who have died at a young age, and I’ve mourned for my loss and their family’s loss, but when I see a man like this, I mourn for what the world lost.

There's so much life in him: the thrill, the joy, the passion, the determination... He was so charismatic and burned so brightly! Phenomenal racer. To me he is the greatest of all time, incredibly special talent and the fact that he was always giving his all made you very invested. Rest in peace, Ayrton.

He seems like he was a genuinely nice, down-to-earth guy. I saw all the riches he had and thought "he deserved all of this". I guess for anyone who lived when he was Number One, his name will always mean Forma-1. (Also all that Marlboro everywhere😄It was a different time for sure!)

This is the most amazing look behind the persona that people thought was just about the racing. He was so much more than that - intelligent, thoughtful, dedicated to those who work with him, driven and, surprisingly, quite wise. Makes it all the more heartbreaking that we lost him. Brings back that sad day I watched it happen, all over again :(

My first hero in sport was Alain Prost. I grew up watching the Senna-Prost rivalry. For me, Ayrton is the greatest in history in terms of talent, effort and focus. We miss him so much here in Brazil. I'm pretty sure he would win in 94 and in some other seasons...Hill almost won in 94, and he was a bad driver.
    RIP, Legend.

I think I've seen this interview at least 20 times...it never gets old. He was such a fascinating man, so mysterious, incredibly private, and never fake.
I think if he seen the way the world is today he would be absolutely appalled, and incredibly saddened. Can't even imagine what he would think of how F1 is today. He wouldn't like it that's for sure. What an amazingly beautiful human being.
