Thanks to F1 RUclips team, for remembering Ayrton. His passion for this sport together with his talent produced indeed remarkable stories. No matter how many times I see it, it always hits me emotionally. Was he the best F1 driver? Well, it seems so, although we can point out some weaknesses, that not all Brazilian fans would agree: Prost had better starts and, more importantly, Senna's obsession for staying ahead, using all possible means, made him go over the limit more than a couple of times. But a hero without weak points is not a true hero. Thanks again and let's celebrate, instead of being sad.
His qualifying lap in Phoenix in ‘91 was pretty special as well! His former teammate, now driving in the better handling Ferrari, had a better qualifying time late into the second session. In typical Senna fashion, he went out for his last stint with minute left, and when he drove by the Ferrari pits stuck out his forefinger at Prost. He then knocked 1.5s off his next best time, which put him over 1 second ahead of Prost. Even though Schumacher ended up with more poles, I still feel that Senna was the master of this arena, for his ability to perform when it was most needed!
You're absolutely right. And there's the fact that Senna had the indisputable best car for only 2 seasons, during which his team mate was the great Alain Prost, with the final pole positions score of 26 vs 4 in favor of Senna. And yet, a certain star was quite forgotten during the race. A very certain german, who would lose his life in the next year, was catching up to Senna from P20, with 200hp less. Bellof would eventually get disqualified from the race, as his car was underweight.
It made me wonder if it could have been an influence. If you search the Internet you will find some drawings of Goku and other DragonBall characters wearing the McLaren uniform, and even driving the car. In addition to photos of Senna with Akira Toriyama himself.

One fascinating thing about Senna. He was driving like a hooligan, he was literally on the razor's edge every single time.
