Senna's remarkable story, charting his physical and spiritual achievements on the track and off, his quest for perfection, and the mythical status he has since attained, is the subject of SENNA, a documentary feature that spans the racing legend's years as an F1 driver, from his opening season in 1984 to his untimely death a decade later. Far more than a film for F1 fans, SENNA unfolds a remarkable story in a remarkable manner, eschewing many standard documentary techniques in favour of a more cinematic approach that makes full use of astounding footage, much of which is drawn from F1 archives and is previously unseen.

Imo Senna vs Mansell was a much better competition than Senna vs Prost. Why? Because both were fighters and both pushed their cars to the limit. There was much more action on the track between them and they respected each other. They could have had an argument about an incident at on weekend and celebrate while joking around the next weekend.

Comparing drivers through eras is almost impossible as the sport changes so much through the decades but if you look at percentages within the stats such as pole positions, fastest lap, podiums, wins etc instead of figures you’ll see Hamilton tops Senna in almost all of them. Modern day F1 is different to Senna’s years, a lot different and changing all the time, I’m not saying Senna isn’t one of the best ever, probably would have been the best ever had he lived longer, but you could say the same for Jim Clarke. Your stat is a man has started on the front row consecutively more times than Hamilton has managed to. You don’t think mechanical failures in practice or qualy, or penalty’s for the numerous parts that need replacing through a year could’ve contributed to that fact? Senna was my idol. I was hoping he'd win that day as a special present... Saddest birthday ever. I cried non-stop for the rest of the day, and through the night. I was devastated. I cried when I saw this trailer for the first time, and every time I see it. I cried when I saw the documentary at the cinema. And I cry every time I see videos of Senna or when I think of him. Ayrton, forever a legend.

Well, it’s a bank holiday (May 1sr) here in Brazil. I was 7 at the time and no one knew how to react that day (and I am not either a F1 or Senna fan 😂, have never been). We had the Wednesday school day off here in Sao Paulo at least so whoever wanted to attend could go to his funeral (spoiler alert: a lot of kids did go 😂)

I must say, reading all these comments about Senna, and being a Brazilian it's amazing, in Brazil Senna was a loved hero, it was a great loss to my country when he died. At the same time, every Brazilian who watched him race live with his Lotus and McLaren feels immense pride till today.

An incredible pilot ! most of his fellow pilots took him for a crazy/weird persone because he talked about concentration before racing, meditation and piloting extra visualisation before and during racing. His unique abilities weren't ricognized as well as today. But at that time he was the only one who speak about it freely. And what a great pilot he was because of it.
He is so much more thant than just the greatest pilot who ever lived...

@ 2:13 Seeing him lose composure and his character realizing Fangio was greeting him at the podium (Senna’s only driving idol) always gets me. 🥲 You never saw Ayrton act like that for any other driver. You could see him become a child again when he realized who he was, and embraced and kissed him like a fan would. One of my favorite moments in the history of the sport.
Michael, Damon, Jacq, and maybe even Mika all owe part of their success largely to Senna’s passing.
