there was a two year wait between season 2 and 3 and man, did the fandom theorize. so many ideas, so many fanfics, and it was an interesting time between 2012 to 2014
Arthur Conan Doyle killed off Sherlock because he wanted to write historical novels. People were outraged. Supposedly 20,000 people cancelled their subscription to the magazine that published the stories and the magazine was nearly ruined. After several year Doyle caved and wrote The Hound of the Baskerville s which was set before Sherlock’s death in the story timeline. A couple of years later he figured out how to continue the story.
They wear wigs to court in Hong Kong as well (as an ex british colony). It looks so funny seeing all these asian women (for some reason a lot more female dominated during my time at school there) with their black straight hair ponytails poking out under their white wigs.
Moriarty is such a great adversary to Sherlock. He is the only villain that can match up to Sherlock's smartness which makes him one of the best character in this show.
Mycroft is actually the more clever of the brothers it’s just he doesn’t like or do the physical work. Fans of the original stories knew that Sherlock was still alive but the theories of how he did it went mental. Some were just totally insane and some were practical but not exactly right. Moffatt’s clue was ‘ it is possible to jump off a high storey building and survive. There was something between the roof and the floor and that’s all I’m saying ‘
The first season ending with the bomb at the pool, was because BBC hadn't commishend a new season, and the writers wanted to pressure them. So after the succes, they could make a new season, but that's when Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch where respectively filming their other projects hence the long waiting. (Also, they didn't have an idea how to finish that scene until the wife of the writer told about the akward moment of a phone left in the casket at a funeral and they used that idea) Then right before the second season airing, the writers told the public they didn't expect to keep the actors as they became big stars so everyone got thinking this was the last season. So most viewers thought they really killed of Sherlock. Until that last scene, then the writers tweeted something like: Got You!. Nevertheless, the long waiting years in between, are worth it, as is the few episodes per season.
Part of the reason the breaks between seasons were so big was because Moffat was the head writer on the _other_ big blockbuster show for BBC at the time, the mind-bending masterpiece, Doctor Who. Y'all should check it out!
Here’s the thing: if you’ve read the sir Arthur Conan Doyle books you know Sherlock isn’t dead. All of these episodes are modernized versions of those stories.
@@JerzeyBoyz I hope you enjoy it man! And just in case you ever feel a bit bored of reading the books, I'd definitely recommend checking out The Hounds of Baskerville before giving up. I have read the first 6 books (in order of publication) and it's my favorite. It's very different from the show's adaptation and keeps you hooked all the way through. Like most SH books, it's a self contained adventure/case and 100% can be read out of 'order'. Also, this is not to say that the other books are 'bad' in any way. They're all great! Hope you have a great time reading!
Just came across you guys today. Love your reactions to this fab show- and yeah, here in the UK they do wear those wigs in court, but only barristers & judges. Your every day lawyer doesn’t wear them.
Randomly wanted to see someone's reaction to Sherlock. Then I came across you two. Love how you guys are laughing through your confusion. Can see how you love the show - great actors and writing! You've got a new subscriber!
Mycroft is smarter and more cleaver then Sherlock. I love Sherlock and like Mycroft, I hate to admit that. It is a fact though Mycroft is smarter, However i think Sherlock has a tiny bit more sentimental and caring, Only for others close to him.
Before you get into season 3 you really need to watch the short called Many Happy Returns you don’t have to but it’s a great short before getting into season 3
Love you reaction. FYI - the lawyers in wigs are called barristers and they do still wear wigs, but only for certain types of hearing. (I am one!) Also - make sure you watch the teaser minisode "Many Happy Returns" before you start season 3.
Sorry to ask, but I’m extremely interested in going into law when I’m older (particularly a barrister), and I’m wondering whether I could take this chance to ask you a couple of questions?
@@stuartarmstrong5190 Thank you very much! Sorry if these are too personal, or not really terribly good questions, I am just trying to find out as much as I can. The mains ones I am curious about are: Do you really need as good grades/education as they say? Many sources say that the salary is very hard to live off until you are established. Is this true? Is there anything you regret not preparing for, or not bothering to do education wise? I have also heard that it is an incredibly draining career for some, have you found it to be that way?
@@saunteringvaguelydownwards6308 Well, it is 20 years since I qualified but it is v v competitive so you will need good grades. There's no way around that. As for salary, barristers are self-employed so there is no "salary" as such. How much you can make will depend on which chambers you get into and how lucky you are. It is, therefore, fairly tough starting out. However, I felt that it was worth taking a gamble - if it didn't work out I would have no regrets. If I didn't then I might also wonder what might have been. I worked hard and got lucky so I wouldn't do anything differently. Basically, work hard and do your best, whatever you want to do! It gives you options.
@@stuartarmstrong5190 Oh gosh...I feel so embarrassed about putting ‘salary’...I meant to put ‘income’. 😳 Thank you for your answer! It’s much appreciated; I’ve been struggling to find any actual information from an experienced individual.
I'll drop dead if I get a text, "I'm waiting... JM." Just blows my mind how they draw me in and crash every assumption I come up with. Twenty months of waiting until season 3 came out! All that time trying to piece together: is Moriority dead? And, how did Sherlock pull off this suicide? When I first watched I thought that bike accident with John was suspect, like it was supposed to delay him and dull his senses. You guys are rocking it! Catch you on the next Lucifer and Sherlock. If you are looking for a weird movie to react to consider Fantastic Planet 1973.

Honestly characters like John are my favorites.

Lawyers and Judges still wear wigs in the courtroom in GB. But just in there. They are not walking around with them outside the court :D
