We really didn't know what to expect from 21th century Sherlock, we went for it with an open mind :), And we didn't regret watching this 1st episode. Clever, funny, intriguing, we loved it and will keep watching it for sure. Another interesting show to add to our catalog :) to mix it up a lil bit ;). We hope you guys enjoy it! Thanks for watching and remember to subscribe if you haven't yet, it really encourages us to make more content
One of the saddest things about this show is that in the original Sherlock Holmes stories Dr. Watson had just got back from a war in Afghanistan and in the modern day version they didn't have to change that.
I LOVE how they introduce Mycroft like some super villain and then it turns out he's just concerned for his little brother 😍 I also love how he realized immediately what's up with John and his leg. "You're not haunted by the war Dr. Watson. You miss it!" Even his own psychologist couldn't figure that out. So...it's not just Sherlock - Mycroft is also incredibly observant.
I mean Sherlocks admits both in the original and in the shows that Mycroft is much Smarter than he is, just lack passion and motivations, that's why Sherlock does the leg work.
21st century Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson is very enjoyable. It is fast paced and very well visualised, so that the viewers can follow. „Wrong!“ The viewer thinks he can follow but is still surprised. Martin Freeman as Dr. Watson immediately found a place in my heart. Enjoy the ride, the show is brilliant.
AS A HUGE SHERLOCK HOLMES FAN THIS IS MY FAVORITE MEDIA VERSION OF SHERLOCK ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY TAKE HIM AND PUT HIM IN MODERN TIMES WITHOUT REALLY CHANGING WHAT MAKES THE CHARACTERS WHO THEY ARE
The odd thing about SherlockHolmes is we think of it as a period piece so this version is novel. However it was contemporary when it was written, so there was no intent for it to be quaint and old-timey, so modern takes might in some way be more in the spirit of the original than slavish recreations.
It's interesting to see the similarities and differences between this episode and the actual story "A Study in Scarlett" it's based on, which was the first Sherlock Holmes story written.
First LOST and now Sherlock!? I'm so in! Great reaction, already love the dynamic between Watson and Sherlock, can't wait for you to delve further into their stories!
Aww glad you like it, never know what people will want to watch with you and just have to take a leap of faith lol, feedback so far has been good enough to keep going with this though ❤
@@-gohu- It does! Both shows have great acting, beautiful set design, fantastic directing and brilliant writing. By the way, the actor who plays Mycroft is Sherlock's head writer! My dad had all the SH books when I was growing up, I totally devoured them and its so cool to see a modern take on su h a classic and to have it be as well done as this is a real treat
All the way through. Rob: "Why do people keep thinking they're a couple?! You get to a certain age and you can't have friends any more?!" Sherlock: "You'd know." Rob: "JUST KISS." 😂😂😂😂
Great, I discovered your channel two days ago and love your Lost reactions (binged them all) and now you are watching Sherlock... I'm looking forward to it!
Did Sherlock choose the right pill or the lethal one? We will probably never know... nevertheless it was an intersting moment of the episode to see how far he could go to be proven right.
The old man pushes the good pill towards the person. He wasn't a murderer, the people, including Sherlock picked the one he didn't push forward.... Like he said he gives his opponent every chance, he was dying anyway
Neither of the pills were lethal. I finally figured it out - the poison was in the water they were given to take the pill, so no matter which pill they chose, the taxi driver could take the other one safely.

Kinda miffed that uTube JUST recommended this to me today(!), but am happy because I get to binge on the rest of your episodes. SO glad someone is doing reaction vids to this gem of a series, and the two of you are both wonderful commentators at that. I'll admit there was a bit on cynicism on my part going in, but by the time they got to "Afghanistan or Iraq...?" I just had the goofiest grin on my face, and it lasted the entire episode I had to watch it again. I loved the ptsd inferred opener, followed by the "do you want to see some more?" / "Aw god yes" showing it was the trenches that put Watson in his element. Second fave bit: the cane, allowing a wonderful bonding moment for the two characters by letting Sherlock prove to Watson it really is psychosomatic; I just thought it was so classy. Sad/Fun fact: the original Dr Watson as penned by Doyle saw battle and was wounded IN Afghanistan.
Thanks for the nice comment :) Yeah this show really impressed me with its really great balance of comedy and drama. I can see why these actors got so much work after.
Glad you enjoy :) we are really loving Sherlock! We release them every other week because of recording times but we will do them all because it is so good 😊
Looked for Lost reaction, found both Lost and Sherlock. And True Blood and . . . Dexter. Oh my. Not sure who the disembodied lady is but I'm sure if I go back I will find out. Nice reaction! Going back to Lost Ep 1 now, that's the true test.
I was honestly surprised Sherlock didnt get it was a cabbie from the start of that whole scene. Some of the "brilliance" of him is a bit slow. I, an idiot, shouldn't come to the conclusions before him. It happened twice this episode. (Not knocking the show, just is kind of weird) I was thinking about the pill... What if they were the same but the guy has an antidote he takes or something?
ah! first "lost" now this? "sherlock" is one of my favorite shows of all time! it was a real pain to wait two years between every season to only get 3 episodes every time, but it's the kind of show that is worth it :)
oh wow!!! Finally someone doing this show again! It’s one of the best I’ve ever seen and your guy’s reaction was awesome!☺️ Can I ask why is Trin not there with you tho? Is it because of Covid or doesn’t she want to be on camera?🤔 And oh my god 😂 at one point you gotta watch the unreleased pilot of „A Study in Pink“ they shot a year prior to this damn it was quite different, especially the portrayal of Sherlock and how the whole mystery with the cab driver played out. In general it’s quite different from the version we eventually got which doesn’t mean it’s bad, it’s just hilarious and very different in a way😂😅
Thank you for the lovely comment! Trin lives in a different country but she helps with my nerves recording infront of a camera haha😊 I will look into that pilot though cause it sounds interesting!
Oh, yes! Love Sherlock. Such a great tv-show and wonderful actors. Writing is amazing. Can't believe you missed this show, you are a Brit, aren't you? So glad you started this reaction. Can you watch Stranger Things after Sherlock and after that Dexter, please. And after that Outlander.
All of these shows are on my list, i went with Sherlock first because it is short in regards to episodes :) I will watch all the things eventually as i do not plan to go anywhere ^^

YAY Sherlock :)
One of the saddest things about this show is that in the original Sherlock Holmes stories Dr. Watson had just got back from a war in Afghanistan and in the modern day version they didn't have to change that.
"I'm in shock. Look, I've got a blanket" is one of my favorite lines ever.
:D that was one of the funniest moments of Sherlock

That first episode was really a good introduction to Holmes abilities^^
I mean Sherlocks admits both in the original and in the shows that Mycroft is much Smarter than he is, just lack passion and motivations, that's why Sherlock does the leg work.
I loved this show. It's absolutely perfect!
Freeman, and Cumberbatch are equally brilliant in everything they do. ❤
“they made Sherlock cool!”
Sherlock and Watson have always been cool!!!
The actor who plays Mycroft Holmes (Sherlock's brother) is actually one of the writers/directors/producers that is making this show! They are great.
He is from that show i loved The League of Gentlemen haha, and wow i did not know he wrote and directed this :O

Yeah am loving this take on Sherlock very much!
The original Dr Watson was also a veteran doctor of Afghanistan.
The "rache is German for revenge" bit was a nod to the original Doyle story, where that *was* what the victim wrote in death.
It's interesting to see the similarities and differences between this episode and the actual story "A Study in Scarlett" it's based on, which was the first Sherlock Holmes story written.
If you view Moffat era Doctor Who there are occasional Sherlock Easter eggs to look for.
