@@warshipsatin8764 Richmond, VA is heavy in violence but it’s not necessarily gang violence. Gangs aren’t all that popular in the city, much like nearby Washington D.C where I was born n raised near. I lived in Richmond for 8 yrs so I know a great deal about the places. Crime was worse in the 80’s & 90’s generally speaking. While there are a few gangs, it’s not like Chicago or LA which are gang-riddled. There’s a ton of hard drugs like coke and heroin, and alot of ghetto and projects, and just overpopulation in general, which stems much of the violence. Homelessness is also a big issue

Any murder is bad (outside of rightful self-defense), but there's something about the murder of a young woman just minding her own business trying to become something. Why bother her? Who are they to stop her progress through life? It's awful to happen to anyone, of course, but maybe because I can understand someone who has no drama, just minding their own business, obeying the law, living their life quietly alone, trying to be something, so I feel extra resentment towards it.

Two comments: 1) why is it that when a young woman is killed, the men involved in the case invariably say, “it’s such a shame; she’ll never get married or have children.” Yes it is a shame- of course any murder is a ‘shame!!’ But leave it at that or add in that she’ll never get to find fulfillment in her career, or pursue her passion for rock climbing etc etc. Not all women want children or marriage and even if they do, their lives are not defined by those two things, just as no man’s life is defined by parenthood and marriage. 2) Regardless of the suspect’s eventual guilty verdict, judging him for being annoyed and less cooperative every time the cops came back and then back and came back to talk to him, is kind of ridiculous. Any person would get irritated at being accused of a crime and badgered and questioned, over and over ad nauseam . I’m glad the murderer was caught but I think sometimes the investigators are a bit too quick to pin a crime on the most convenient suspect. Just my two cents. Oh, and #wewillnotgoback
